ARR Anna Katrina Zinkeisen (1901-1976)All the Colours of the Rainbow (1942)signed lower rightoil on canvas50.5cm x 61.5cm ICI Corporate Collection until 2002; Collection of Rose Grimond; Private Collection, UK. The present work was commissioned by Imperial Chemical Industries to promote the production of chemical dyes. However, Zinkeisen's execution belies the painting's commercial origins, resulting in a dreamlike and surreal piece that must be counted among her finest pictures. Framed. The painting is in good overall condition. The picture surface is stable, with some light surface dirt and other minor abrasions. Some wear is present to the graduated painted gilt frame. There is some undulation to the canvas in places, as well as some slightly more prominent areas of abrasion and scuffing around the lower right. There are some other blemishes around the upper left of the composition as photographed. There is no real craquelure. The canvas does not appear to have been relined.
