A scarce Bing liner A 40cm long pressed steel and tinplate single screw liner, believed made c1920. Sports a red hull, black and cream sides above the waterline and light brown representing a wooden upper deck. The superstructure comprises 2 decks with extensive fenestration, then a small open bridge at deck 3 accessed by a short ladder aft. The 4 funnels are about 2.5cm high, the one accommodating the key being missing. On the upper deck are 2 vents for’ard, bases for main masts for’ard and aft and a stowage cover aft. The masts and rudder are missing except for 2 mast stubs. A 5cm bracket secured under the hull keeps the model upright. The clockwork motor operates but does not turn the screw. GC for age, significant chipping, paintwork a little crazed in places, requires cleaning. See Plate28.

A Dinky Supertoys Slumberland Guy Van A very nice c1950 example of this famous van, no. 514, red body with red ridged hubs, black smooth tyres, spare wheel and gold lettering. Boxed, faded light blue with lift-off lid and single wrap-around label, narrow light brown lettering, van facing in from right, No. 514 in white on black roundel; some wear and minor damage, pencil price markings. Pair of Sevres porcelain Ice-Cream Pails probably from the Sir Thomas Lawrence service, each having continuous enamelled botanic decoration, bordered above and below with gilt and platinum decorated deep blue bands, gilded scroll handles, each having an internal liner and cover, each base with green painted 29 AV 24 GU followed by Ex and M in painted script, overall height including brass base 22.25cm, width 29.7cm from handle to handle These pails are thought to be from a service presented to Sir Thomas Lawrence by King Charles X in recognition of his trip to Paris in 1825 to paint portraits of both the King and his son. On Sir Thomas`s death the service was apparently offered to but turned down by the Royal Academy, however on July 5th 1834 Christie`s sold `what remained` of the service. This was split into two lots each containing seventeen pieces comprising of `a bowl on a stem, a pair of circlar dishes, a pair of ditto on stems and one dozen plates`. When the service was presented in 1825 it contained `some ninety-five pieces` of which it is known that seventy-three were plates. This would leave fourteen presumably larger pieces unaccounted for. See Sotheby`s New York 19th May 2006 and Christie`s New York 17th/18th May 2005 for examples of plates from the same service with identical decoration, borders and dating system. Examples of plates are held in both the National Museum and Gallery, Cardiff and the Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle.
