A wonderful double header here from the legendary Ernest Ranglin with a superb instrumental on the A side with a Rocksteady winner from The Coolers (Dufton Taylor) on the flip. Original UK release on Pama Records (P.M.B. 711). The record is in neatly presented Ex condition with just a couple of rather light, minor and rather wispy surface markings. Los 316

JAZZ/BLUES 78s/10". Eclectic collection of around 90 x 10" 78RPM recordings with some 10" too. Los 317

TUBBY HAYES QUARTET - TUBBY'S GROOVE LP (UK TEMPO TAP 29). Most certainly in the groove with Tubby here with this seldom seen Tempo LP from 1960 (TAP 29). The LP is in Ex condition. Clean and glossy, there are just a few rather minor and light surface markings to note when viewed under stronger light. The deep grooved labels are in exceptional condition. Matrix/stampers: VMGT-1636-1B 1 U & 1637-1B 1 C. The fully laminated flipback sleeve is in neat VG+ condition - a well presented example, there is the start of some (light) peeling to the opening edge on the front. The flipback tabs on the back cover are in lovely clean order. Hayes said of this LP, his first since the break-up of the highly successful Jazz Couriers: "We started doing this not as a sort of 'gimmick', but as a way of giving the group a different sound... I find it a tremendous personal challenge, too, as an instrumentalist to be able to swing on my own." We're happy that Tubby, indeed, kept it swingin' and very much in the groove.

Los 38

THE RONETTES - PRESENTING THE FABULOUS RONETTES LP (1ST US STEREO ST-4006). A fabulous original US copy of the indeed fabulous 1964 debut LP from The Ronettes featuring Veronica... 1st US stereo pressing on Philles Records (ST-4006 , PHLP 4006). Side 1 is in clean Ex condition with just a rather light and faint hairline mark towards the end of the side. Side 2 is in superb Ex+ condition with just a couple of extremely faint and very fine wispy markings. Matrix: SLP-4006 A & B ? on both sides. The sleeve is in great Ex condition with only very minor wear indeed; there is a small import notch on the top left (front) or top right (reverse), this has possibly cause a very small tear on the edge.

Los 39

SMOKEY SMOTHERS - SINGS THE BACKPORCH BLUES LP (KING 779). The original US pressing and one of the hardest to find releases on the legendary King Records from 'Big Smokey' (779). Side 1 is in VG+ condition - glossy and only with a couple of light surface markings, there is a very small (perhaps needle marking) at the very end of the side which causes 2 small pops in the last 2 seconds of the track 'Smokey's Love Sick Blues'. Side 2 is in cool Ex condition with again, just a couple quite light and minor surface markings. The sleeve is in very well presented VG+ condition. Considering the age (1962) I would suggest it would be harder to find another like this, superb colour on the front and very little discoloration to the reverse - there is just a seam split measuring 10cm along the bottom edge that leads to the opening side. With care, a future owner could possibly repair this.

Los 44
