A 19th Century Continental Kingwood, Marquetry and Gilt Metal Mounted Commode of shaped outline, with grey and white veined marble slab and moulded edge to top, fitted two deep drawers, shaped apron and on cabriole legs with sabots, 41.5ins wide x 16.5ins deep x 34ins highSome light scattered scratching to the marble top. The front right and left hand side are unevenly faded. The metal components are slightly oxidised. To the left and right hand sides there is some slight veneer bubbling. The drawers run free and easily with minimal resistance. General heavier wear to the feet and legs commensurate with age. Overall the item is structurally sound with little to no movement in the joints and appears to be in relatively good condition.

Charles Ricketts (1866 - 1931) - Watercolour - Costume design for "The Three Kings - The Coming of Christ", from a play by John Masefield for the 1928 play at Canterbury Cathedral, with artist's pencil inscription to lower right "To Mrs Bell from C. Ricketts Whitsuntide 1928", 19ins x 13.5ins, framed and glazed Provenance: Donated by the artist to Mrs Bell, wife of Dean Bell, Whitsuntide, 1928, thence gifted to Cannon Ingram Hill by Mrs Bell, and thence to the current vendor circa 2003 The painting and outer slip are heavily discoloured and there is a white shadow around the slip where is has been placed on the paper. There is some light foxing. On the left hand corner there is an area of paint loss around 1/8th ins diameter. The adhesive on the back of the mount has dropped. When inspected under a UV light there appears to be no areas of obvious damage, loss or restoration and the piece, apart from what has already been mentioned appears to be in relatively good overall condition.

A George V Silver Water Jug by Mappin and Webb, London 1915, with flat pivot lid, tapered body engraved with initial "H" and cane covered handle 7.5ins high, gross weight 14ozsGood gauge of silver. Charles Bilger Spalding (1810 - 1871) - Oil painting - Two horses and a dog in a yard, signed and indistinctly dated, canvas, 28ins x 41ins, in gilt moulded frameThe frame is showing signs of general wear with scattered paint loss and shrinkage to the gesso inner frame and all four corners of the frame the joints are beginning to open up. The painting itself on the top right left and bottom edges has rubbing where from the frame. There is some light scattered scratching to the painting itself and general craquelure. It appears to have been repolished quite recently. When inspected under UV light there are scattered areas of retouching. There is an area of repair/restoration just above the white horse's neck and to the left of the brown horse's head and when inspected on the back there is a patch where the restoration has taken place.

A Set of Four Late Victorian Silver Oval Salts and Mixed Condiments, the oval salts maker's mark rubbed, Birmingham 1898, with shaped rims on scroll feet 1.5ins high, four silver urn pattern pepper pots, two silver cylindrical pepper pots and a mixed selection of salt and pepper pots, some continental, combined weight of English silver 15ozs Four Victorian salts - these are of a light gauge of silver. Some general misshaping to the rims. Extensive rubbing to the hallmarks and some misshaping to feet. Of the four pepper urn pepper pots, two are a pair and then there are two others. They are all of a relatively light gauge of silver and appear to be in reasonable condition. The other two have some rubbing to the hallmarks. The two cylindrical pepper pots - one has several dents to the body and lid, the other more minor dents and the marks are very rubbed. The remainder of the lot includes a silver rectangular mustard pot and a matching salt, a small oval salt, as pepper pot, a shaker - all of a light gauge of silver, all with signs of use with dents, surface scratch marks, movement to hinges and rubbing to hallmarks. Three 800 standard oval dishes, a small continental rectangular salt and eight Continental white metal oval salts of neo-classical design, six have blue glass liners, two of which have high bases. The metal of those appears to be in good order and appears to be unmarked.

A William IV Silver Circular Mustard Pot and Mixed Silverware, the mustard pot by Robert Hennell III, London 1834, with gadroon mounts, shell pattern thumb piece and part-reeded body engraved with crest to lid 2.75ins high, a George V silver circular mustard pot, London 1921, of plain bulbous form 2.5ins high, a pair of late Victorian silver circular salts, Birmingham 1892, and a small silver jug combined weight 11ozs Mustard pot - this is of a good gauge of silver. The lid is engraved with a crest to centre in the form of a seated lion - slightly rubbed. There are two small vertical lines on the handle where the thumbpiece has marked it. The hinge is loose. Very minor misshaping around the spoon hole. Scattered light surface scratches all over. Hallmarks struck on the plain part of the body near the handle and are somewhat rubbed. Further marks struck on the inside of the lid - date letter a little rubbed. On its own it weighs 5ozs and is has a blue glass liner.The other mustard pot is of a lighter gauge of silver. The gadroon mounts are slightly rubbed. Light surface scratches all over. Some movement to the hinge. Hallmarks struck on the side of the body are quite rubbed and those struck on the inside of the lid are clear. On its own it weighs 3ozs and it has a blue glass liner. The pair of late Victorian circular salts - these are of a light gauge of silver. They appear to be in overall good condition and have their matching spoons. Hallmarks are struck on the side of the bodies within the embossed decoration and on the backs of the bowls of the spoons. The case has some scattered scuff marks and some fading to the base and some dirt to the interior. The small silver jug is London 1911 - some minor scattered dents to the body and some rubbing to the hallmarks on the side - the base is impressed Vincent silversmith Weymouth.

An Edwardian Inlaid Satinwood Kidney Shaped Display Table, on four bold cabriole legs, 25ins wide x 16ins deep x 30ins highTo the top of the glass there is light scattered scratching and on the outer edge of the top there are various areas of veneer loss, each in rectangular sections around 2ins long horizontally. General rubbing on the edge all the way round. The lined interior - the fabric is present however it is loose and is quite stained. The legs and lower tier have general heavier staining and heavier wear commensurate with age. Flight holes present to one of the legs evidence of historic woodworm. Overall the item is structurally sound however there is some movement in the joints.
A Small Collection of Chinese Porcelain, 19th/20th Century, including - a pair of blue and white plates, later clobbered in coloured enamels and gilt, double concentric circle mark to underside, 8.5ins (21.6cm) diameter, and a two-handled blue and white bowl and cover decorated with an extensive landscape, 4.75ins (12.1cm) high Pair of blue and white clobbered plates - one plate - some enamel loss to the branches on either side of centre. Some rubbing to enamels again mainly in the centre. A few scattered pitted marks. Flake chip to underside of rim. Several flake chips to foot rim. Other plate - scattered rubbing to enamels, both in centre and on rim. A few minor pitted marks. A few minor flake chips to rim from which there is a hairline crack running from one which measures approximately 13mm long. Some flake chips to foot rim.Two handled blue and white bowl and cover - gilding to finial, rims and handles very rubbed. Small hairline crack to back of floral bud finial. Minor flake chips to glaze on foot rim. The other items include:Cantonese cylindrical teapot and cover, 14cm high - scattered pitting to glaze particularly on lid. Some rubbing to gilding particularly on the rims. Vertical firing fault to lower part of spout on one side measuring approximately 20mm. Some light scattered rubbing to enamels. Tea bowl and saucer decorated in blue, white, red and gilt - flake chip to rim from which a hairline crack is running down the whole side of the body. Extensive rubbing to the gilding within the decoration of the tea bowl and saucer. Plate decorated in red, blue, green with stylised flowers and scrolls in shaped panels, 23.5cm diameter - rubbing to gilding particularly on rim. Surface scratches to enamels particularly the red ground. Pitting to glaze on underside. Blue and white plate decorated with flowers, 22.5cm diameter - two flake chips and three hairline cracks to rim. Hairline crack to one side of centre. Further glaze to chips to rim. Two 18th century porcelain enamel plates - one extensively damaged and with rivet repair. The other with several flake chips and hairline cracks. Three blue and white cups and saucers, the cups - all the gilded rims are quite rubbed. Small flake chip to rim of one. Saucers - two are extensively damaged and crudely re-glued with some extensive losses. The third has some flake chips and several hairline cracks to rim. A late blue and white bulbous teapot and cover - chip to spout and generally dirty.
John Emms (1843-1912) - Oil painting - "Foreman", portrait head of a foxhound, signed, titled and dated 1904, canvas 14.5ins x 12.75ins, in partially gilt moulded frameThe frame has some light scattered scratching and general rubbing. Signs of shrinkage on all four edges. The painting is slightly faded. On the bottom left hand corner there is a small area of paint loss and some slight bubbling to the paint in the same area. When inspected under UV light there are no real areas of damage or restoration and this item appears to be in fairly good condition
A George II Silver Mug, by Richard Gurney and Thomas Cook, London 1737, of baluster form engraved with leaf spray, with moulded rim and footrim and leaf capped scroll handle, 4ins high, weight 7.3ozsThis is of a good gauge of silver. Some light rubbing to the moulded rim. A few very minor scattered dents particularly around the bulbous section of the base of the body. There is one almost horizontal dent in the middle of the body. It is engraved with a leaf spray on one side with no other personalised engraving. Some minor rubbing to the moulded rim. Foot rim slightly misshapen. Interior is gilded with some scattered rubbing particularly around the rim. Hall marks struck to the underside, some only partially.
***Michael John Hunt (born 1941) - Oil painting - "Back of Broad Street, Canterbury", signed, board 9ins x 13ins, in gilt frame and glazed The frame is heavily distressed with signs of shrinkage commensurate with age on all four corners and inner edges. The painting itself is in good overall condition with no obvious damage or paint loss. When inspected under UV light there are minor scattered areas of retouching, but other than that appears to be in good overall condition. Please note this item has not been inspected out of its frame.
A Pair of Victorian Low Nursing Chairs, upholstered in floral pattern cloth, on turned and fluted legs, and a Victorian stool on x-pattern supports, 22ins wide x 23ins deep x 16ins high Both chairs - the upholstery appears to be clean with no obvious damage/loss/tears, rips or stains. There is no foul odour emitting from either of the chairs. General heavier wear to the feet and legs commensurate with age. Castors run freely. There is some slight movement with the joints from the back to the seat however it is structurally sound and both chairs appear to be in good overall condition.The stool - the needlework upholstery is heavily worn, stained and faded, various areas of wear and holes present. Around all four edges there are signs of fraying and the upholstery is heavily worn. Light scattered scratching to the base, darker staining and uneven fading and general heavier wear to the feet. Two areas of moulding loss on the left hand side at the front and a similar on the right hand side of the of the base of the back.
