A diamond and rock crystal star brooch, a cental cabochon rock crystal engraved with a monogram, within a star frame set throughout with old cut and rose cut diamonds, total estimated diamond weight 1.80 carat approximately, measures 3.5cm in diameter NB: Two outer diamonds deficientThere are two very small diamonds deficient from the tips of two radial arms. There is light surface scratching to the rock crystal. It fastens with a later pin and safety catch. Gross weight 9.7 grams. Condition Report made 31st October 2017.
A gem set monogram pendant, an interlocked 'MR' monogram set with calibré cut garnets and seed pearls suspended from a coronet set with pearls, emeralds and diamonds, measures 6cm by 4cm The brooch is in good condition. There is some very light wear to the seed pearls. The base of the mongram includes three hoops, which May have once suspended aditional pendant drops, which are now deficient. It is not hallmarked or stamped but in our opinion would test as gold. Gross weight 32.6 grams. Condition Report made 31st October 2017.
Martyn Brewster (b.1952) - Lakeside No.20, signed Brewster and dated 1988, also inscribed verso, oil on canvas, 36" x 36" *The artist lives and works in Dorset, his work explores the coastal light of the county. Robert Organ (b.1933) - 'Sparkle of Light on the Sea', signed and dated 2001, also inscribed with the title verso 'Sudden Sparkle of Light', oil on canvas, 35.75" x 29" **The painting also bears the remains of an exhibition label to the frame **Provenance: Black Swan Guild Ltd. The original purchase price being £3150 in 2002. **The artist was born in Somerset and studied at The Royal West of England College of Art, Bristol and at the Slade School of Fine Art under the tutelage of George Sweet and Claude Rogers. He moved to Cornwall in 1957 and taught painting at Falmouth School of Art alongside his old Slade friend, Francis Hewlett. He later became interested in architecture and the preservation of ancient buildings. After several years, he turned his attention to painting full-time and, in 1978, became artist in residence at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter, who hold a number of large paintings in their permanent collection. He has held numerous exhibitions at Beaux Arts in Bath, the Newlyn Orion Gallery in Cornwall and has a particular longstanding relationship with the dealers Browse & Darby of Cork Street, London. An Art Deco wall light, reputedly from the Criterion Cinema, Hull, the gold painted steel body of stepped fan shaped form, the centre pierced with a silhouette study of a female dancer with mottled fawn backing, flanked by two panels with mottled purple and fawn backing, encasing a single light fitting, 40 cm high, 41 cm wide.
