Each titled and initialed by the artist TW, approx. 35 x 45cms. (7)April Sale There is very light foxing to three of the watercolours, some minor creasing to the extremities of two. The watercolours were framed before so there is evidence of colour loss to the watercolours, evident largely by darker extremities where the paintings sat under the frame.

the wooden rectangular box covered in green stained shagreen with silver gilt piano hinge and pierced silver mounted corners and thumbpiece, mark of Charles & Richard Comyns, London 1926, 14 x 9.5cm, the cylindrical table-top spirit lighter similarly covered, with friction fitting top and steel fittings, 5cm diameter, 9cm in height (2)Condition report: Box: Silver fittings would benefit from a polish. Feet are very slightly bent in, but the box stands firm on a flat surface with no wobble. The hinge is in order, but the cover is a little warped so does not completely close to the front left hand corner. Very minor loss to the shagreen to the right hand side of the hinge to the reverse of the box. Interior in good order.Lighter: Metalware with some light surface scratches as to be expected. Some further scratches and scuffing to the underside. Shagreen in good order. Cover a tight fit. Replacement wick in situ, but the mechanism is in need of a flint. Striker rotates satisfactorily.

mark of Thomas Johnson II, London 1882, of oval form and designed as a fisherman’s creel, chased and engraved to represent wicker, part marked piano hinged cover similarly decorated, interior gilded with a hinged plate with push button release (button now lacking) featuring an oval miniature reverse polychrome intaglio of two trout lying on grass, under which is a compartment for matches, the underside of the plate forming the strike (currently jammed in the closed position), 5.5 x 4.5cm, 3cm in height, 3ozt gross Condition report: Exterior: in good condition with just some minor surface scratches as to be expected. Cover opens and closes firmly, and the hinge does not appear strained.Interior: Fish and glazing in good condition with no obvious sign of damage. The hinged plate under the fish is currently stuck in the down position, and the button release is missing, so the fish cannot be lifted to see the interior. Some light scratching around the outer of the plate. The outer rim of the creel looks to very very slightly out of shape which is maybe why the plate will not lift but not misshapen enough to prevent the cover closing and opening as it should.
mark indecipherable, Birmingham 1919, of plain rectangular form, part marked piano hinged cover with applied thumbpiece, the top inlaid with tortoiseshell, cedar lined interior with two dividers, 27.5 x 8.5cmCondition report: Overall in good condition with no obvious sign of damage or repair. Some minor surface scratches, dents and dings to the silver as to be expected. The tortoiseshell top would greatly benefit from restoration. It is currently a matt finish, 'orange peely' in reflected light, though the very edges have more lustre. A very minor break to the shell in the bottom left hand corner, at the very edge. Interior in good condition though the two dividers are a little loose. Cover opens and closes well and the hinge does not appear to be strained. Hallmarks a little worn but readable
