Her father, Bishop William Lort Mansel (1753-1820) was perhaps Perceval`s longest standing and closest friend, who on hearing of the latter`s murder became "deaf through shock for a year". Such few portraits of Perceval which are known are almost all based on the death mask taken by the sculptor Joseph Nollekens or, in turn, the posthumous portraits by George Francis Joseph (see R Walker, Regency Portraits, NPG, 1985, vol I pp 386 & 387). ++Even light brown time staining
