Four of Spades. Michael Tarr, watercolour on paper, signed to the front, unframed. Artwork size: 22.3cm x 15.7cm, overall size: 29.7cm x 24cm. Michael Tarr artist profile - Heavily influenced by the various charms of Italy, his work draws on his background as an architectural illustrator, where he worked for 12 years after leaving Somerset College of Art. Mundane or commonplace subjects are viewed in a different or unexpected light. Recently he has been working on a series of ombrellone paintings, depicting Italian beach umbrellas, playing with their shapes, colours and patterns. Chairs, their pattern, design and the shadows that they create present the perfect subject for his fascination with finding abstraction in everyday forms. He has had work selected on numerous occasions (inc. catalogue illustration 2013) at the RA Summer Exhibition and the RWA Autumn Exhibitions (prizewinner 2009) as well as many solo and mixed shows in London, the South West and Yorkshire. He is included in Whos who in Art 2010 34th edition Social Media www.facebook.com/michaeltarrpaintings www.saatchiart.com/michaeltarr Please note that Ewbank's are charging no buyers premium for any lots sold in this auction.

Queen of Hearts. Aimee Jewitt-Harris. 'Nyx and Hemera', pencil drawing on paper. Signed to the front, unframed, artwork size: 37cm x 26.5cm, overall size: 59cm x 42cm. Aimee Jewitt-Harris, as well as being the CEO of Transplant Links Community, is an artist who trained at Falmouth University where she studied Illustration. Aimee enjoys the spontaneous nature of collage work, often combining her drawing skills with her love for the random outcomes created with artistic play. The Queen of Hearts draws inspiration from the traditional layout of the Queen card and focuses on two queens who are based on the mother and daughter team who run the charity: Aimee herself, and Jennie her mother. "The Queen of Hearts represents a force of unconditional love, and deep enduring bonds, something that I wanted to portray in this image of Jennie and I. Our similarities and differences are reflected in the yin and yang element of night and day, light and shade. The figures draw inspiration from Nyx (the Goddess of Night) and Hemera, Goddess of Day and daughter of Nyx. Symbols of darkness and light from each figure intertwine with the other, as they weave their story together and can never be parted." She teaches at South Hill Park Arts Centre, where she ran the Ceramics Studio for 10 years. Karen takes inspiration from a range of sources, capturing ideas in her sketchbooks on location and then further developing her themes. She is delighted to contribute to the Deck of Cards for this years TLC Auction. Karen says We are all on different journeys, some planned and some unplanned, and sometimes events can seem overwhelming. I was travelling home a while ago, along a dark, shady tree-lined avenue, and then realised that I could always see light through the trees sometimes just a glimpse, sometimes joyous bursts. It made me realise there was always light ahead, however many trees there were. I hope that the artworks that are donated to the TLC auction provide some of the sunlight for the people who are waiting for organ transplants." There is a loss of to the board support approximately half way up the right hand side edge, this loss is rectangular in shape and is around 0.5x2cm. On the same side of the board, towards the bottom there is a fine crack of the board support, though this has not resulted in any loss of medium. There is some fluorescence under UV, though this appears to be due to the nature of the pigments used rather than the result of any overpainting, other areas of fluorescence show some drip marks that are not visible to the naked eye. Please see additional images.
