A cased silver condiment set Birmingham 1920, maker Walker & Hall. CONDITION REPORT: The condiment set has had little to no use. There is light tarnishing to most of the pieces and the blue glass liners to the salts have some minor chipping to the edges. All pieces when placed onto a flat surface are steady and do not rock.
An Edwardian mahogany longcase clock, with three train fusee movement by The Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Company Regent Street London, with both Whittington and Westminster chimes, strike/silent mechanism and three brass cased weights and pendulum. Height 248 cm, maximum width 58 cm, depth 39 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: We currently have the clock running and it is chiming away nicely. The clock is generally in very good order. Showing signs of age-related wear, light dents, scratches etc but nothing massively untoward. There is however in the front panel at the base signs of historic woodworm. Internally it could do with a good clean but other than this it is good to go.
A Dresden porcelain cabinet cup and saucer, with town scene. Saucer diameter 15.5 cm, together with a coffee can and saucer and a Dresden two handled cup and saucer. CONDITION REPORT: The largest cup has rubbing to the gilded areas, the saucer has a hairline crack leading from the rim towards the base +/- 6 cm in length. The twin handled cup and saucer are good condition with no signs of any chips, cracks or restoration. The smallest cup has some light rubbing to the gilding as does the saucer.
A Victorian mahogany tilt top occasional table, raised on a turned column with four carved legs. Height 73 cm, width 51 cm, depth 40 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The top of the table shows light use with the usual bumps, scratches etc. The tilt top action works as it should and the main shaft is again in good order. The legs show signs of use nut nothing untoward.
A Zenza Bronica EC medium format camera, with Carl Zeiss Zenzanon MC f.28 80 mm lens No. 9680222. Two extra film backs, light meters, film and case (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Overall the camera looks tired. The leather is peeling at the edges. It has not been stored properly. There is no power, the battery is flat. With the back off, the shutter fires and the mirror moves as expected and because of no power fires at 60 and B. There appears to be three or four fungus spots internally in the lens. All three backs have dust and mould to the doors, hence the low estimate.
A Gillows of Lancaster breakfront desk, inlaid with burr wood, boxwood stringing etc, the top with brass gallery and tooled leather surface with central long drawer stamped 5311 Gillows, flanked on either side by five short drawers all with brass handles. Height including gallery 77 cm, width 122 cm, depth +/- 58 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The desk is generally in good condition. Te brass gallery is in good shape and the leather writing surface has been used but is still usable. There is a light scratch to the front right-hand side which goes from the front of the desk off towards the right-hand side through the leather writing surface although I am sure that a good polish would sort this out. There is general wear and tear from age and related use but nothing majorly untoward. All the handles are intact and all the drawers work as they should.
A continental mahogany and gilt metal bijouterie table, late 19th/early 20th century of shaped outline with bevelled glass top, the interior lined in a pink velvet and raised on cabriole legs. Height 74 cm, width 54 cm, depth 54 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The table is in good order. It shows signs of light use but we can see no signs of anything untoward.
A Mdina cut ice fish vase, designed by Michael Harris. Height 21.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The vase is in good order. There are some light scratches and there is a slight imperfection to the glass which is a line at the rear which is approx. 6 cm in length. Other than this there is nothing untoward.
A 19th century boulle and ormolu mounted cabinet, with single door with oval panel to the centre opening to two adjustable shelves and black marble top. Height 129 cm, width 93 cm, depth 43 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The top has various dents, light scratches etc from use and age related wear. The left-hand side of the cabinet again shows signs of age related wear. There are some woodworm holes in the rear upper section but this is long gone. There is also a section of brass stringing which is missing. The cabinet has been re-polished at some point and there are a number of splits, longest +/- 38 cm. The base has numerous woodworm holes but again this is not live. There is also some cracking to the veneer. The front of the cabinet is generally in good condition. Some of the brass metalwork is lifting to the top of the oval central panel. Towards the centre of the oval panel there are other raised sections, some of which have been pinned back into place, this continues down into the lower portion of this section. There are some woodworm holes to the front but this is long gone. The right-hand side has some sections of cracking and some woodworm holes. Right at the base there is a section of brass stringing which has become loose and is sticking out. The longest of the cracks on the right-hand side is 30 cm in length.
An oil painting on canvas, full length portrait of a young girl with flowers. 127 cm x 53.5 cm in gilt frame. CONDITION REPORT: The painting is behind glass and is relatively clean, however there is some slight mould to the left-hand side and at the bottom right-hand side. There is also looking under UV light some patches towards the base which appear to have been touched up at some point. On the lower half of the canvas the paint is quite crackled. The frame is relatively modern but has some slight cracks but nothing majorly untoward and looking at the canvas from the rear it appears to be relatively clean and tight.
A George III oak press cupboard, in two sections the top half with moulded cornice above a pair of panelled doors opening to hanging space and with bone lock escutcheons, the base with two dummy above two short and one long drawer with wooden knob handles and all raised on bracket feet. Height 200 cm, width 133 cm, depth 56 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The press is in excellent condition. It has the usual dents, bumps, light scratches, age-related wear etc but the colour is very good. Some of the beading to the left-hand side has been replaced but this has been done to a high standard and is barely noticeable.
A George III oak side table or lowboy, fitted with two frieze drawers and raised on moulded legs. Height 72 cm, width 81 cm, depth 45 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The lowboy is in good order. It shows signs of use, light water staining, ring marks to the top and an old scratch which has been worn smooth but runs from the left-hand side nearly the full length, but this is barely visible from an angle. The legs are solid and are in good condition, there is a small loss to the rear right-hand leg in the centre but again this is barely noticeable. The drawers work as they should, however there is a modern alteration to the rear of both drawers which stops them from being pulled all the way out unless placed at an angle. The left-hand drawer base also has a full length split which is very slightly open.
An Edwardian inlaid rosewood small Sutherland table. Height 56 cm, width 54 cm, depth flaps down 13.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table is in very good order. It has light scratches, marks, etc. but nothing untoward. It is solid and still a good colour. It has more than likely been gently restored at some point but this has been to a good standard.
One volume "Modern Farriery" by WJ Miles MRCVSL, London published William McKenzie Ludgate Hill. CONDITION REPORT: The front of the book has some water staining and the edges are bumped and rubbed. The lower spine of the book is split and is coming away and the rear is also rubbed and split. Internally there are some light foxing marks but nothing particularly untoward and all the pages appear to be complete.
A set of fourteen Chippendale style dining chairs, each with yoke shaped top rail, pierced and carved splat back with stuffover seat upholstered in green leather and raised on moulded legs. Height to top of back 97 cm, width across front of seat 54 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The chairs are all generally in very good order, showing signs of use, age related wear etc, light scratches, dent. There are two seats with scratches to the leather although these are not particularly visible and would hopefully buff out. There are three chairs which have had the cross stretchers glued back into place and one is possibly a replacement. These would benefit in our opinion from being taken apart and re-glued.
Edward Horace Thompson (1879-1949), a watercolour Derwentwater and Friars Crag. 18 x 25 cm, framed and mounted. CONDITION REPORT: The painting is generally in good order. There is a slight speck, possibly some foxing, to the top right-hand corner in the sky and there is a slight ripple to the paper, however it is neatly presented and in a good mount and frame. The glass to the right-hand side of the mount has an air bubble and the frame has some very light chipping.
Harry Stinton Royal Worcester vase, decorated with highland cattle in a mountainous landscape, signed H Stinton with puce mark to the bottom, circa 1923. Height 16 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The vase is in very good order, however on the underside there is a dark line leading towards the tip of one of the downward pointing gilt finials. This is also marked with the letter R, we are unsure as to whether this is a crack or just a simple firing flaw of some sort. After looking at it under UV light we cannot see anything glowing at all. Other than this there are no signs of any chips, cracks or restoration.
A large key wind silver pocket watch by Waltham, together with a silver Albert chain. Case diameter 55 mm. CONDITION REPORT: The watch will wind and ticks away nicely. The outer case has general wear and tear as you would expect and the engraving to the rear has been worn smooth around the edges. There is some very light denting to the rear at the top right-hand side. The dial is a little grubby in places but nothing untoward. The fob has slight bends to the tips of the outer edges. Other than this everything is in good working order.
JHP Tamlin (flourished 1903 died 1911), an oil on canvas "Shipwrecks at Kings Lynn", signed and dated 1909. 44 x 59 cm, framed. CONDITION REPORT: The picture has some light crazing particularly around the sky which has a couple of patches of lost flaky paint. There is also a very slight dent or hole to the left-hand side near the tallest building to the left. Other than this it is in good order but may benefit from a light clean.
An Omega tank Art Deco wristwatch, knob wind and with subsidiary seconds hand, case dimensions excluding lugs 20 mm x 30 mm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The case length is 5 cm and the width excluding the crown is 2.1 cm. The watch winds and ticks. There are age and use related light scratches to both the metalwork and glass, there is also some dirt accumulated in the corners.
A Victorian walnut and inlaid corner whatnot, with fretwork decoration and turned carved pillars, with three shelves and cupboard to the bottom section raised on turned legs and castors. Height 146 cm, width at the base 81 cm, depth +/- 54 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The fretwork in the upper section has some repairs. The first shelf is in good condition with some minor losses to the inlay but nothing untoward. Below this shelf there should be an apron but this is missing. The second tier down has damage to the fretwork which has been glued back into position and the shelf is in a similar condition with minor losses to the inlay and also some bubbling and losses to the veneer. The next section down has fretwork in good order with no damage but the shelf has some very light water damage and discolouration to the front section. The cupboard to the bottom is in good order. The lock works as it should but would benefit from some oil.
A pair of mahogany lamp standards, formerly early 19th century bedposts, each with circular base. CONDITION REPORT: Both stands have had sections of timber broken from the tops and have been glued into place although this has been done a long time ago and is barely noticeable. The main shafts and bases show signs of wear and tear, general use. The shades externally are in good condition for their age, but internally the lining fabric has started to disintegrate. Both shades would be serviceable but would benefit from a light clean.
A William IV rosewood turnover top tea table, with faceted column, quatreform base and scroll legs with castors beneath. Height 74 cm, width 89 cm, depth 44 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The tabletop is very slightly faded and there are numerous light scratches and some ring marks. To the right-hand side edge there is a loss of veneer which is approximately 2 x 1 cm and to the left-hand side there is also a loss of veneer approx. 1 x 1 cm. Opening the table the interior is a rich dark colour, there are signs of dust, light use etc. Also, on the edge on the rear left-hand side there is a loss of veneer which is approximately 4 x 1 cm. The column of the table is again slightly faded and has some splits, the worst of which is at the rear and goes from the upper quarter of the column down through the main section and towards the base nearly the full length and this is slightly open. The table base again has a crack possibly the full length going from side to side underneath the column and the feet show signs of age-related wear. There are some veneer losses to the base at the front which should be visible on the photograph but the largest of which is approx. 6 x 2 cm.
A William IV flame mahogany segmented breakfast table, with snap action and circular base raised on three scroll feet with castors. Diameter 138 cm, height 75 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The table is generally in good order. There are signs of use, wear, light dents etc. There is some cracking to one side which matches up with the planks to the underside. The column and base have splits and cracks to the veneer but nothing that is particularly open or untoward, just general drying out. The feet have age related wear, rubbing etc. which have been touched up at some point. Generally the table is in good order and has a very nice colour.
A classical guitar by AA Jones of Norwich, with gold label inscribed Concert Guitar and Flute Maker 1976, with rosewood backboard with A10 Certificate No. 24GBA10H1730C. There is also a fine smattering of emulsion paint although this will scrape off. We can see no splits, cracks or holes. The diapason is 65 cm and the nut has a width of 5.5 cm.

Feiling, sent during the Moscow Conference with Stalin, regarding a biography of Neville Chamberlain and asking Feilig to consider “the requirements of official secrecy”, some light staining and soiling, and a light diagonal crease to the upper left corner Churchill writes:I shall certainly be very glad to see you after my return. Meanwhile, I see no objection to your using the proposed extracts, so long as their context is made clear. I must say however that I feel that end of next year is very early for the publication of a book of this kind. I am glad that you are showing the text to Bridges for examination from the point of view of the requirements of official secrecy. The letter probably refers to Feiling's The Life of Neville Chamberlain, eventually published in 1946. First edition, extremely rare, the only known complete copy of this 18th-century triple-decker Bildungsroman, previously thought to be extant solely in the form of a copy of the first volume only at the John D. Rockefeller Colonial Williamsburg Library in Virginia, USA; a German translation was published in 1777 with the title Der Rechtschaffene oder Geschichte des Herrn Heinrich Waters. The author was once thought to have been John Cleland, author of Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure, better known to posterity as Fanny Hill, on the basis of a remark in a contemporary obituary of Cleland, but the reference is now understood to be an obvious mistake for Cleland's 1768 work The Woman of Honour, and an issue of the London Chronicle (17-19 October 1771) names the author of The Man of Honour as J. H. Wynne, a hack writer who had spent time in the service of the East India Company.
