A first release Quad for "Quadrophenia" (1979). Based on The Who's 1973 rock-opera album, the film harked back to the band's formative years during the Mod period 1965-66 (music, pills, girls and fights on the seafronts). The poster design is based on a simple publicity photo showing the key characters in a line, the "Q" of the title emblazoned with Mod imagery. This design has been influential and poster designs for films as diverse as "The Usual Suspects" (1995) and "This Is England" (2006) pay homage.Artist: UnknownDimensions: 30" x 40" (76 x 102 cm)Condition: GoodUnrestored and folded with light foldline wear and title written to reverse but this does NOT show through.VAT Status: M
The Polish affinity for avant-garde poster design evidenced here, Lenica's illustration perfectly communicating the woman's psycho-sexual torment, this the full-colour first release Quad. To some extent the ploy succeeded and the team followed-up with "Cul-de-Sac" (1966).Artist: Jan LenicaDimensions: 30" x 40" (76 x 102 cm)Condition: ExcellentUnrestored folded condition with 3 vertical folds and a single light horizontal fold, the poster looks unused and is in superb condition.VAT Status: M
