Military Silver - The York and Lancaster Regiment 3rd Battalion punch bowl, the bowl of swept segmented design raised on a circular pedestal base, engraved with the regiment insignia, Sheffield hallmark dated 1899/1900 mm Joseph Rodgers (journeyman marks), approx 28 cms d x 14.5 h cms, approx 1007.9 gms Note: Major Brian Ferguson Watts (1925-2019) served with Durham Light Infantry, York and Lancaster Regiment and the 2/10 Gurkha Rifles. He was operational in Malaya, India, Nepal, Greece, Swaziland and Germany, where he met his wife. He was much admired and respected by his colleagues, becoming one of the youngest majors in the British Army at the time. After retirement from active service he work as Station Staff Officer in Detmold Germany and later was the secretary of the Weser Vale Hunt between 1969 and 1980, he was a great horseman and enjoyed riding to hounds. Minor pin dents evident.
