Signed lower left corner. Mounted into a gilt glazed frame. Overall Size 27 x 19 inches.
Crimea War Period Light Dragoon Officer’s Foul Weather Shako.A good and extremely rare example of the pattern worn in the Crimea and by some of the Light Dragoon Regiments during the Charge of the Light Brigade. The body of the shako is tailored with black oilskin cloth and ornimented to each side with three small black false buttons. Gilt lion head bosses support a velvet backed interlinked gilt chinchain, with a smaller lion head and hook to the back. The interior with original soft brown leather sweatband (Stitching faults), the interior silk lining is now absent. The shako retains a very good shape.
Scottish. 1902-1918 Highland Light Infantry Militia Battalion Officer’s shako.A fine quality example, tailored by Anderson & Sons of Edinburgh . Dark blue body with diced band red-white-red and red-green-red. To the front, a regimental post 1902 shako badge (Blank Scroll) and a cord boss mounted with gilt thistle device. Black patent leather peak. The interior is with leather sweatband and silk lining with tailor’s gold stamp. Overall very good, green woollen ball tuft absent. .... Accompanied by regimental pattern Officer’s cap lines.

Black patent leather peak and chin strap. The interior with leather sweatband and original Jacobson 1900 paper label. Minor service wear, leather a little dry to sweatband. GC
German Third Reich WW2 Luftschutz ‘Gladiator’ pattern steel helmet.A good example. Dark blue painted finish with clear transfer of winged LUFTSCUTZ swastika to the front (Slight wear). The interior retains original leather lining, complete with black leather chin strap. Inside back peak of helmet stamped ‘RL2-38/31’. Minor age storage wear, light rust to parts.

Black enamel border, central translucent green enamel oak spray with red enamel scroll “HANSA PRÜFUNGS FAHRT - GAU 20 HANSA” and with enamelled shield of NSKK eagle and swastika, another with DDAC eagle and swastika and another with enamelled Arms of Hamburg. Two small fixing holes to border. VGC
Victorian North Western Provinces and Ouch Police Officer’s Sword.A very good and rare example, the sword closely follows the 1821 light cavalry pattern. The slightly curved single edged blade, with etched decoration of a crowned “VII” cypher, the reverse with “NWT & OUCH” “1857-58 POLICE FORCE”. The forte with a Calcutta retailer’s details. The hilt with three bar open guard guard with shagreen grip the latter with twist wire binding. Housed in plated scabbard with two loose rings. The blade remains in very good, near parade condition. Slight age wear to the guard and wear to plating of scabbard.

The decoration depicts a crowned GR cypher, Royal Coat of Arms, Britannia and a figure of Victory. The hilt of the regulation pattern, with steel single bar guard, the grip retaining leather covering silver binding. Housed in steel scabbard with two loose rings. The blade in good clean clear condition. The hilt and scabbard with matching dark patina.
Napoleonic War Period 1796 Light Cavalry Officer’s Sword By Gills.A good quality example, the single edged curved 32 inch blade is etched with the date 1798 and also depicts a mounted Officer, the figure of Victory, Britannia, Royal Coat of Arms etc. Also the cutler's details of “Tho Gills warranted never to fail 1798”. Etching runs 3/4 the length of the badge. The hilt of the regulation pattern, with single bar guard and leather covered grip. Housed in an all metal scabbard, this now with a black painted finish. Etching to the blade of high quality and clear.
Victorian 3rd Bn Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry Attributed Officer’s Sword By Wilkinson.A scarce levee example of the 1895 pattern sword, attributed to Major Charles Spencer Hall. The narrow blade with etched decoration depicting a reverse entwined Crown VR cypher, Regimental device of the 3rd Bn “Royal Bucks King’s Own” and initials “CH’, which is also repeated to the scabbard. The forte with the cutler’s details of Wilkinson and the blade bears the number “33859”. The hilt is the regulation pattern with shagreen grip. Housed in correct narrow scabbard. Overall GC etching clear some age wear to plating. The Wilkinson records record that the sword was ordered by Captain C Hall on the 27th February 1896. He had been commissioned into the 3rd Bn in 1888, Lt 1892 and Captain 1893. He retired with the Honorary rank of Major in 1902.

The Royal Berkshire Regiment Garrison HQ was at Reading indicating most likely carried by an Officer of the Regiment.
WW2 2nd pattern Fairbairn-Sykes ‘56’ Nickel Commando fighting knife.A scarce example. The hilt with nickel finished to the chequered grip. The crossguard with a stamped WD arrow with “56”. Double edged spear point blade. Housed in brown leather scabbard with nickel rounded chape. This dagger with some age wear, light pitting to the blade and small areas of plating loss. The scabbard has had tangs removed and is now in two parts, retaining elasticised strap absent. Blade length 17.5 cm
WW1 1st Bn Somerset Light Infantry 1914 Star Group of Three.Awarded to “9603 PTE C.C. HUMPHRIES 1/SOM L I”. Comprising: 1914 Star, with clasp, British War Medal, Victory Medal. Mounted as originally worn. Private Charles C Humphries landed in France on the 21st August 1914. He later served with the Devonshire Regiment and Labour Corps and was awarded the Silver War Badge.
Boer War Somerset Light Infantry Queen’s South Africa Medal Four Clasps.Awarded to “6908 PTE S SYMES SOMERSET LT INFY.”, Bearing the clasps “South Africa 1901”, “Cape Colony”, “Orange Free State”, “Transvaal”. Suspension slightly slack. Private Sydney Symes enlisted on the 21st March 1900 and landed in South Africa in May 1900, he returned to England and was discharged in July 1901.
Boer War Somerset Light Infantry Queen’s South Africa Medal.Awarded to “5367 CPL C. JIMBY SOMERSET LT INTY”. Bearing three clasps “Cape Colony”, “Orange Free State”, “Transvaal”. Attributed to 5367 Charles William Jimby who served in South Africa and was also awarded the King’s South Africa Medal. Remaining with the 2nd Somerset Light Infantry during the Great War he saw service in India and on the 1st January 1917 was granted a commission with the Regiment. He was awarded the BWM and IGS clasp “Afghanistan NWF 1919.

HALLETT SOMERSET L.I.” Comprising: Queen’s South Africa Medal, three clasps “Natal”, “Orange Free State”, “Transvaal”, “PTE SOMERSET LT INFT”, King’s South Africa Medal, clasps “South Africa 1901”, “South Africa 1902”, “PTE SOMERSET L.I”. Medals loose. Private John Hallett enlisted into the Somerset Light Infantry in 1887. He served in South Africa from February 1900 until February 1902 when he was discharged as unfit for further service. He died in 1907.

Comprising: 1914/15 Star, “L.CPL SOM:L.I.”, British War Medal, Victory Medal, “SJT SOM L.I.”. Medals loose. Sergeant Sidney George Charles Baker landed in France on the 19th January 1915. He died of wounds on the 16th April 1917. He was a resident of Bruton, Somerset.

He had formally served with the BEF 1940 with the Royal Sussex Regiment and later Commando units, before joining the SAS in August 1942.Comprising: 1939/45 Star, Africa Star, France & Germany Star, Defence Medal, War Medal, Territorial Efficiency Medal (GVIR) “6399236 PTE F CASEY R. SUSSEX”. The medals are loose the campaign medals contained in original forwarding box addressed to Mr F Casey 30 Grenville Place Brighton Sussex” The box with date sent “18.11.49” and details to the back confirm sent by Infantry & AAC Records ... framed and glazed 21st Army Certificate “4979461 TPR CASEY F 1 SPECIAL AIR SERVICE REGIMENT” dated “2nd March 1945” ... Accompanied by an original portrait photograph of Fred wearing battledress uniform with SAS wings and medal ribbons. He also wears his SAS beret ... 1946 SAS pocket diary with various pencil inscriptions ... Photocopies, of service papers etc. Part of the Fred Casey SAS ArchivePrivate Fred Casey was a pre war territorial joining the 4th Bn Royal Sussex Regiment in October 1936, in the pre war years he attended the annual camps and at the outbreak of war 1939 was mobilised. He saw action in France with the BEF and was evacuated from France on the 30th May 1940. On home duties he volunteered for Commando training and on the 10th July 1940 was posted to F Troop 3 Commando, with a further posting in November to 4 Special Service Brigade. After training in February 1941 he found himself with 8 Commando and embarked with this unit to Egypt in April and served with the Middle East Commando. In August 1942 he was posted to the 1st Special Air Service. In March 1943 he was posted to the Special Raiding Squadron 1st SAS. The following month he was admitted to hospital and was discharged from the Raiding Support Squadron, possible for light duties. In December 1943 he was posted back to the UK and reported to 1st SAS on the 7th January 1944. As he prepared for the invasion of Europe he married and on the 18th August 1944 embarked to France. He was awarded the C-in-C certificate for gallantry January 1945. He served in Europe until May 1945 and was then posted with his unit to Norway. On the 20th March 1946 he was discharged to the Reserve.
