Early 20th Century Chinese hardwood and mother-of-pearl inlaid three-tier occasional table, the rectangular top with inset pink marble panel within inlaid border over pierced and inlaid frieze and two under tiers, raised on square section supports with block feet, 65cm x 40cm x 76cm highThe pink marble top has a crack through it and shows signs of a glued repair. Some of the inset mother-of-pearl decoration is missing and has losses. The table is structurally sound but some of the panels are warped. Light surface scratches and wear from age and use.There are paint spot all over.
Early 19th Century English School - Oil on ivory - Half-length portrait miniature of a lady, circa 1830, in finely cast ormolu frame under glass, 10cm x 8cmSold with AHPA ivory permit V8VEU7YU.Successful bidders must organise shipping and any relevent documentation (including for resale if applicable)The ivory has not been removed from the frame as it is securely fixed behind a piece of board. From the front, we are unable to see any cracks. The ivory appears to be fairly flat, with just a little rippling. The colours look good, though we assume there is some slight fading. We can make out some light surface scratches to the surface of the painting.The frame has damage to the back around one of the screw fixings. Some light wear, which is heavier to the back, but the finish is generally in good order. The back has a stamped mark reading 'JA'.

We can make out some light surface scratches to the surface of the painting, most noticeably to the right of the hair.The frame has some light wear, which is heavier on the back, but the finish appears to have been replaced and is generally in good order.

Charles Robert Ashbee (1863-1942) for the Guild of Handicraft silver porringer or butter dish, in the Arts & Crafts style with elongated looping handle set at the shoulder with a green chrysoprase cabochon, London 1903, 18.5cm long, 140g approxThere is wear to the piece including several small dings and some surface scratches. Wear to the base where the item stands. The piece has been polished and there is some loss to the definition of the planished finish. Hallmarks are clear (see image). The cabochon has some light surface scratches, but does not appear to be replaced or damaged.

A pair of cloisonné vases of baluster form, each set with rose decoration, 9 cm high, housed in a fitted case CONDITION REPORTS One has a large bruise to the main body. The other has a chip to the underside rim and some cracking in the same area. He travelled home at least four times during his stay in China and these return visits were round-the-world trips in which he travelled through and visited Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Egypt and The Holy Land, the Far East, Canada and USA.On his return to the UK he lived in Northampton where he was a lay preacher and a local councillor. He gave a great many talks on his experiences in China and the many other Countries he had visited.He died in 1962.

Utagawa Kunisada (1786-1865) six Japanese woodblock prints, Kabuki actors. Frame size 46 x 38.5cm. (6)From the estate of Edward Leslie Costigan.Edward Costigan was born in London in 1939. He and his whole family were evacuated to St. Just in West Cornwall, where he spent his early years.He was educated at the Humphrey Davy Grammar School in Penzance where he won a scholarship to study English Literature at Magdalen College, Oxford through the Violet Vaughan Morgan national competition. He became a Professor after his degree, and taught both in the UK and in Europe. He went on to teach for the British Council in Africa, Canada and Japan.His interests were in film, music and architecture, and he travelled widely. He learned Japanese and particularly enjoyed walking in the mountains of Japan.Upon his retirement he returned to Cornwall, setting up home in Sancreed, West Penwith, where he continued walking and cycling until becoming ill. He died at home in February 2022.There is some discolouration to the paper and some light foxed marks on each. The margins have been irregular trimmed. One is heavily creased. The colours are good.

A pair of Edwardian hobnail cut glass grenade scent bottles with embossed silver mounts (by James Dixon & Sons, Sheffield 1901), 15 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Both stoppers are a little loose and one has a small chip to the rim. Silver has some small knocks and surface scratching as well tarnishing in areas and remains of cleaning fluid. Glass itself has a slight yellowy colour and both have condensation to the interior. One has a knock / chip to the body. Otherwise some light surface scratching and minor fritting. Both with general wear and tear conducive with age and use. See images for further detail.
