A possibly unique in the U.K. Dinky Supertoys American issue Foden 14-Ton Tanker (504). A Californian promotional in dark blue and mid blue with `Aurora Coast to Coast Gasoline` applied decals to tank and an outline of California to cab doors, and `ACE` with safety markings to rear of tank. Boxed with Hudson Dobson applied label. Some fading to box lid. Vehicle GC-VGC. Some light wear/rusting to tank. One of only a few known to exist. Plate. See front cover.
A rare pre-production Dinky colour trial Morris Commercial Van `Capstan` (465). An example in standard production dark blue and light blue on one side and in light blue on the other, `Have a Capstan` to both. Wheel hubs are in standard mid blue. Boxed. A Geo silver plated centre device of the 13th Light Dragoons, XIII/LD within motto strap and wreath, crown / "Peninsula" scroll above, "Waterloo" below, 2 short studs; a crowned brass star puggaree (?) badge "13" in motto strap of 13th Hussars, 2 loops as for HP centre; an ERII RSG grenade and an ER WBC 16th/5th Lancers. †A 5 shot 54 bore Tranter 3rd Model double trigger percussion revolver, 11" overall, barrel 6", B`ham proved, the frame sparsely engraved with scrolls and "No 13138.T", the rammer stamped "Tranter`s Patent", chequered walnut butt with lanyard loop on butt cap. GWO & C, retaining traces of original blued finish (small patches of light pitting overall). Plate 10
†A Belgian 6 shot 12mm closed frame DA PF revolver, 10½" overall, octagonal barrel 6" with sighting rib, Liege proved, numbered 4555, the frame and cylinder deeply engraved with panels of flowers and scrolls and inlaid with fine gold lines, moulded chequered composition grips embossed with scallops and scrolls, lanyard ring. GWO & C, retaining faint hints of original finish (small patches of light pitting) Plate 11
Carriage Prints, a pair, both in original, glazed frames, comprising `Ben Loyal, Sutherland` by W. Douglas McCleod from the LNER series and `Langdale Valley nr Ambleside` by Greene from the LMR series (D). Together with Carriage Prints, qty 5 `Travel In` series by Hamilton Ellis comprising: Burton & Ashby Light Railway; Furness Railway Ulverston; North London Railway for Broad Street; Blackpool & Manchester Train; Lancashire & Yorkshire Liverpool Express; West Lancashire Railway Train. The first one is loose, the rest are with the original glass. The original frames are loosely wrapped and accompany. Accompanying this lot is a pair of C/I Carriage Data plates and one other circular plate.
The Yale & Towne Mfg Co., Ltd. double - sided, alloy Advertising Sign in the shape of a giant Yale Key. Measures 31½" in length and retains 80% of original, light brown paint on one side, silver paint the other. Most unusual and undoubtedly used over the door of a Locksmith. Together with an Enamel Advertising Sign `Very, Very Good Shoes, Swan And Health Brands At Howcrofts Fold Street, 1st Turning Left` (with pointing hand). Curved to fit lamp posts, white and black lettering on a dark blue and green ground. Measures 10" x 10" and is in excellent condition. Possibly from Wolverhampton.
Worksplate Fried Krupp Locomotivfabrik Essen, Germany 1953 No. 3057. Rectangular brass, ex SAR 3` 6`` gauge Class S2 0-8-0 No. 3792. One hundred of this class were built specifically for light harbour work in Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. Not popular with crews because of poor steaming nature. All were withdrawn by 1983.
GWR 3 aspect brass collared Handlamp complete with original reservoir fitted with a BRW burner. Stamped on the side with company initials, the lamp is totally unrestored. Comes with a pair of brass cased Signal Indicators, one showing a home signal arm (case loose) the other showing ‘No Light’ and a Wooden Telephone with bakelite earpiece, fixed mouthpiece and bell beneath. Ex Ryford Signal Box. Together with a Midland Railway saltglaze Inkwell marked on the top ‘MRCo’ and a BR(M) totem shaped Capbadge ‘Porter’, also ex Ryford.
