Rare & Fine Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner stainless steel gentleman's bracelet watch with the 3-6-9 'underline' Explorer dial, ref. 5513, circa 1964, serial no. 1182xxx, the black Swiss dial with double 'T *This watch was purchased in 1976 by the present owner who did sub-aqua diving during the 1970s, with dives to include the Great Barrier Reef and much later, Honduras, accompanying a group of senior students whilst in his role of an English teacher at an independent West Country school. Whilst there are no papers or box, it comes with a number of scanned family photographs depicting the owner wearing the watch. It has been serviced three times during this period with the last service undertaken by Rolex in 1999 and confirmed from their digital archive system. An insurance valuation was also undertaken in 1989 for £1,219.00! These rare Rolex Submariners with Explorer dials were believed to have been produced in very small numbers during the late 1950s and early 1960s. Following the success of Gardiner Houlgate selling three similar examples in 2016 and 2017, this fine example with private provenance is now offered for sale.Further enhanced by the 'underline' Swiss dial, and also the double printing of the 'T Condition Report: Movement - clean and currently working.
