FLY WALLET: A fine Army & navy London brown leather fly wallet, stamped to outside & underside of flap Major-General Spencer William Scarse Dickins (1862-1919) Eton, Sandhurst, Highland Light Infantry, (full biography included with lot) measuring 9" x4" x2" with original strap and buckle, parchment leaves with felt pads, hook scale to rear containing approx 50 early salmon flies, most to gut, some with loops and a selection of early trout flies, pockets to wallet rear cover, file and disgorger to front (F).

REEL: A rare Hardy the Davy reel in alloy, 3.5" diameter, correct ribbed alloy foot, rim tension regulator, twin black handle, light weight check latch, internal check with spares, silvery lead finish, runs well. Illus. Note: Hardy`s were commissioned by Mr Martin Davy to manufacture a fly reel suited to his 8`9" trout fly rod, the Davy reel was coursed in many ways from the Eureka trotting reel design, a total of only 187 Davy reels were made between 1930-37 making one of the most sought after lightweight fly reels. AN ARCHIVE OF ITEMS RELATING TO GENERAL SIR LEWIS STRATFORD TOLLEMARCHE HALLIDAY, V.C, K.C.B., D.L. of The Royal Marines (b.1870-d.1966), the archive including a group of General Halliday`s medals in miniature including the Victoria Cross, his uniform with bars, swagger stick, riding boots, Sam Brown, epaulettes, artillery beret, a feathered plume and further items including kit bag, bowler hats, various ephemera including photographs of General Halliday next to George VI, various invitations to the Royal Marines annual dinner, garden parties at Buckingham Palace, various newspaper cuttings, taking the salute at Trouping the Colour by Plymouth Royal Marines in 1938 and further items. (See Part Illustration). General Halliday won his Victoria Cross during the 1900 Boxer Uprising in China when at that stage, a Captain in the Royal Marine Light Infantry and on June 24th Captain Halliday in command of 20 marines whilst their compound was surrounded, engaged a party of the enemy but before he could use his revolver he was shot through the left shoulder at point blank range, the bullet fracturing the shoulder and carrying away part of the lung, despite the severity of his wound Captain Halliday killed four of his assailants and told his men to carry on while he walked back unaided to the hospital refusing escort and aid so as not to diminish the number of men engaged in the saute.

Canton enamel vase ornately decorated vase" one side depicting two girls resting from picking bananas to read the Little Red Book the other side depicting two girls picking tea enamel on copper 254mm. high Canton c.1968-71. ***Cultural Revolution enamel and cloisonné is very rare as the workshops were turned to mass production of light engineering such as electric motors vehicle parts and tannoy systems. This vase in fine condition " would have been made in Canton specifically for sale in the Chinese-owned Arts and Crafts stores in Hong Kong and Macao.
