A Meiji period Japanese Satsuma ware bowl decorated with figures in an interior, raised on a circular foot, bearing black on gold seal mark to base, 12 cm diameter CONDITION REPORTS Overall with light general wear, craqueleur, some slight rubbing to gilt rim but overall appears in good condition.
IN THE MANNER OF ROWLAND WARD - assorted glassware to include jug, bowl, decanter, eight deep wine glasses, eight shallow bowled wine glasses, seven tumblers, eight liqueur glasses and four other glasses, all with etched African animals, jug 24.5 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Bowl : diameter 22 cm, height approx. 16.75 cm. All items with some light general wear, bowl with a few paint-like deposits to rim, wine glasses appear sound, tumblers appear sound although one of them does appear to have a band of clouding. Jug : height approx. 24.5 cm, generally appears sound. Tots have some blemishes and small vertical scratch to one, and some paint-like deposits. Cylindrical shaped glasses : one is cracked and chipped, and another has frits to rim. Shallow stemmed wine glasses have some paint-like deposits but otherwise appear OK. Decanter : stopper appears to be stuck and not currently able to remove this, has some condensation to interior, externally decanter appears OK although not able to inspect stopper and neck fully.
A circa 1910 mahogany long case clock, the arched brass and silvered dial inscribed "Stokes Kensington", with brass Arabic numerals and subsidiary seconds dial, chime/silent and Whittington/Westminster dials and eight day musical movement, with nine gongs, the case with all over blind fretwork carved decoration, the hood surmounted by lion mask, raised on claw and ball feet, 247 cm tall CONDITION REPORTS Overall with some light general wear, a few small knocks and scuffs, and some wear where the glazed arched door opens, and some scuffs around key escutcheon, some slight polish deposits to the blind fretwork, a few scratches, some knocks and scuffs to the mouldings around the base section and to the feet, but generally overall the colour appears good and it appears in good order. It is not known whether or not the mechanism is in full working order - please see photos for details of mechanism. A few chips to the carved decoration including part of a petal missing to the carved decoration to the panel to the base section. Width of base section approx. 52.5 cm, depth of base section approx 40 cm. Height of clock excluding feet (ie from top of horns, to bottom of plinth base) approx 235cm.
A 20th Century brass and marble cased clock garniture in the Louis XV style, the movement by EHS of Germany No'd. "130-070", the circular enamelled dial with Roman and Arabic numerals inscribed "Regnault à Paris", housed in a lyre shaped case with putti faun embellishments, flanked by two six branch seven light candelabra, the metalwork stamped "Brevattato" to underside, 36 cm wide x 61 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Floating balance tin-tang striking. Date c. 1970's - 1980's.
A Rolex Cellini 18 carat gold wristwatch, the textured dial set with Roman numerals, the back stamped "5115 K653105 18K", housed in a Rolex case with handkerchief and guarantee CONDITION REPORTS Watch strap has wear, creases and dirt, back of watch has some wear, and scuffs, and a large scratch, watch case generally has some wear and scuffs, dial, hands and glass appear in good condition. Watch is not currently ticking and it is not known whether in working order. Black case has some light wear and scuffs and a scratch to top. Cardboard Rolex box has some wear, scuffs and bumps.
An early 20th Century silk evening bag with enamelled decorated gilt metal clasp, an early 20th Century embroidered purse, and an early 20th Century make-up compact with bird and floral decoration CONDITION REPORTS Silk bag with enamelled clasp : some light general wear and a little tarnish, some of the marcasite type decoration is missing from the enamelled clasp, however otherwise appears in reasonably good condition, size approx. 22 x 18 cm including clasp. Embroidered purse : has wear and fraying, some discolouration and dirt, size approx. 12 x 20 cm. Compact : with some wear, scuffs and scratches, some tarnish and a few knocks to edges, size approx. 12.5 cm x 7.75 cm.
A Caucasian carpet, the centre field with repeating floral and foliate design in light red, blue and cream on a dark blue ground, within pale red, blue, brown and cream borders, 312 cm x 247 cm CONDITION REPORTS Overall with wear and dirt, some losses to ends and fringing, large areas of the carpet have the pile completely worn away with the structure showing, there are a few areas (possibly which have been beneath furniture) which do have pile remaining - please see photos for examples, quite a lot of dirt and stains, some losses and fraying to sides.
A Caucasian rug, the centre field with two rows of five medallions in madder, pale red, green blue and cream on a cream diamond decorated ground within mustard, pale red, green, blue, cream and madder geometric and stylised floral decorated borders, 179 cm x 132 cm CONDITION REPORTS Overall rug is very thin an threadbare, when held to the light the light shines through it, pile is mostly worn away to majority of the rug although there are still some areas where pile is still present, overall with some fading, and much of the colour has been retouched/recoloured, some holes and stitched repairs, and some very stringy areas, some losses and fraying, large tear/split down the centre lengthwise which extends through about a third of the length of the rug and has been stitched back together and various touching/colouring in, some wrinkling and irregularities to shape, a piece of binding sewn to reverse along one side.

A fretted clavichord by Johann Jacob Bodechtel, Nuremberg, circa 1790, the pine case painted light green, the interior of the main section of the lid overlaid with paper decorated with flowers and foliage on a matt gold ground, the four and a half octave keyboard, C to f3, with ebony naturals and bone overlaid accidentals, bichord brass stringing with open-wound strings in the bass, the fretting commencing at d sharp/e and with unfretted d's and a's except for f3/d3 sharp. Inscribed in ink on a paper label on the bass hitchpin rail Johann Jacob Bodechtel, Orgel- und Instrumentenmacher, in Nürnberg. Length 4ft 4¾in, 134cm; width 1ft 2?in, 37.7cm Provenance Purchased by Christopher Hogwood in 1998 from Colin Tilney who had purchased it at Christie's on 12th June 1974, the vendor then being Miss Margaret Stevenson. Boalch2 records just one instrument by Bodechtel, most probably this one. The owner then was recorded as Alexander Helman. Boalch also suggests that it was probably the same instrument that was purchased by Messrs Morley at Puttick & Simpson's on 18th June 1931.
