The smoker's cabinet with the front carved panel detached and the top front of the cabinet is broken and will need restoration. Other general wear throughout.

The edge banding slightly split where the join meets and slightly gaping. General wear to legs and underside. The underside also with some damp blooming. The mirror has some spotting to the plate and general light age wear.

A Victorian carved rosewood lady's salon chair with burgundy dreylon upholstered back and seat on turned and fluted tapered legs, with fitted castors, height 89cm.Additional InformationSome light marks to the upholstery, the braiding around the seat and back of panel is loose in parts and has frayed. Some of the joints are slightly open at the top. General scuffs and wear around all four of the legs. The carved cresting bar to the top of the back is cracked to the left hand side, this may have been detached and re-glued but not recently, overall fair.

GILLOWS; a pair of Victorian carved rosewood side chairs, with scroll carved backs and floral upholstered seats, on cabriole legs, height 83cm, each chair stamped to the underside of the seat. Additional InformationOne of the chairs has three breaks to the small sea scroll sections at the top of the back. The upholstery is later, some old worm holes hear and there but nothing living. General light age wear patina to the wood throughout. One of the walnut chairs with repairs to the carved detailing below the oval splat, one a little loose to the joints of the upper section of the chair. Both with general age wear scuffs and marks.

The upholstery to the back of the sofa is torn along the back edge. Some sun fading to the wood and some light scuffs and scratches.

ANDREW VARAH (1945-2012); a unique maple and myrtle burr wood lady’s writing desk and chair, c.1998, the desk with an inlaid top set with two drawers and a compartment, each formed as a book, one leather mounted, and one removeable to access a secret compartment (a trademark of Andrew Varah’s work), on tapered legs, the underside with stamped date 11.05.98 and triangular maker's mark, height 72cm (not including books), width 62.65cm, depth 99.5cm.  This lot is subject to Artist's Resale Rights (D).Provenance: The desk and chair were privately commissioned in 1998 at a cost of £4000. The desk was awarded was awarded a Guild Mark (No 255) by the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers in 1998; the original framed certificate accompanies this lot along with a folder of original documents related to the commission.Additional InformationTop with a few light knocks and minor scratches through use. Small patch to the bottom right corner of the myrtle which has faded a little and another small patch to the inlay towards the bottom left corner. Varnish with a craquelure throughout the myrtle and inlaid section. A few light scratches and scuffs to the legs. Top flat edge may have originally had a gallery as there are six holes which are filled in. Top also with some water marks. Light patina of general age wear to surface but overall ok. Internally with no drawers and with some ink and pen marks.

A 19th century all steel flintlock muff pistol, the frame indistinctly signed to one side and stamped 'London' verso within simple foliate scrolls, with screw-off 1.5" rifled cannon barrel, overall length 15cm.Provenance: The Captain Allan Marshall Collection.Additional InformationThere is very light wear to the surface of the gun throughout. Overall in good condition. The barrel is not seized. The hammer does not hold on half cock but it does fire from half cock and full cock positions.

A 19th century French naval percussion cap pistol with 7" barrel and mounted on a dark stained stock and mounted with steel furniture, overall length 37cm.Provenance: The Captain Allan Marshall Collection.Additional InformationThe pistol fires from both the half and fully cocked position. There is surface pitting to barrel and further dulling to the lock plate and furniture. Light wear throughout on the stock with some more significant nicks and scratches to the grip area.

A 19th century East India Government percussion cap large bore pistol with 8" barrel, the lock plates stamped with a crown above a broad arrow and 'EIG', 'Birmingham 1869' and  '14', fitted with a hinged metal ramrod and mounted on a walnut stock with brass furniture, overall length 35cm.Provenance: The Captain Allan Marshall Collection.Additional InformationOverall fairly good condition with light signs of wear and tear throughout commensurate with age. The screw in question certainly is pronounced and not flush to the body of the gun, but it is similar in look and wear to the other screws that have been used - unfortunately we cannot offer any more specific information than that.

An unusual pair of 19th century flintlock over/under double barrel pocket pistols of all brass construction, with 3.5" cylindrical barrels with side lever to determine which chamber is being used, light engraving throughout the action and fitted with walnut grips, overall length 19.5cm.Provenance: The Captain Allan Marshall Collection.Additional InformationOne of the guns has a loose hammer and is latching in position but is not currently functional. It does have a mechanical safety but there is part missing but with the main spring functioning as it does, it is hard to determine that the safety works. The second gun has a gap behind the action to the left hand side where the grip is mounted. Similar issues with the hammer and main spring on this gun, although it appears that the safety is complete and functions by locking the powder cover.

FOTHERBY; a 19th century double barrel percussion cap pistol with revolving over/under barrel, maker's name to one side of the action and foliate scrolls verso, fitted with a checkered walnut grips and steel furniture, the percussion nipple section stamped with broad arrows to both barrels, overall length 20cm.Provenance: The Captain Allan Marshall Collection.Additional InformationThe barrels are a little bit loose when in the set positions. The grip is slightly offset to the action behind the hammer. Holds from the half cocked position and fires from the fully cocked position. The hammer is a little bit loose. There is light surface pitting throughout.

A Belgian pinfire brevet six shot revolver, the 6" barrel stamped 'E. Lefaucheux' and fitted with a foliate engraved cylinder and frame and mounted with a well-figured walnut grip, overall length 31cm, bearing various Belgian proof marks throughout and to the lower section of the frame in front of the trigger guard it is stamped 'FW', SN:174043.Provenance: The Captain Allan Marshall Collection.Additional InformationThe main spring is not holding the hammer correctly although it is intermittently functional. The lanyard loop is very loose. There is very light surface wear throughout the metalwork and slightly more significant wear through the walnut grips.

The extractor rod is missing its front lug. General wear and tear throughout.

A French large bore percussion cap big game rifle, the lock plate inscribed 'St Etienne', the 34" barrel fitted with bladed front sight and V-band rear sight, the breech being hexagonal to the end of the fore end and then transforming to a round tube, overall length 130cm.Provenance: The Captain Allan Marshall Collection.Additional InformationThe woodwork is quite worn with significant scuffs, nicks and scratches throughout. The calibre of the gun at the muzzle end is approx.approx. The barrel has light surface pitting externally and internally is grubby but the rifling is fairly visible.

WINCHESTER; a model 23 XTR 'Pigeon Grade' 12 bore side-by-side boxlock single trigger ejector shotgun with selective fire, the 28" barrels with 3" chambers mounted with a raised vented textured rib stamped 'Pigeon Grade', the action with foliate scrolling detail and mounted on a checkered walnut stock with a beaver tail fore end, SN:PWK005619.Provenance: The Captain Allan Marshall Collection.Additional InformationOverall very good condition, showing very little signs of use, with only very light surface wear in small areas to the metalwork and the woodwork alike. Length of pull 14". The barrels are choked at 1/4 & 3/4. It is stamped 'Winchester Proof Steel'.

Greener; a 12 bore side-by-side hammer gun, the 30" barrels with 2.5" chambers and mounted with a flat textured rib bearing the maker's name and the address '68 Haymarket, London, Winner at the London Gun Trials 1875, 1877, 1878 & 1879' and further stamped 'Patent Treble Wedge Fast No.3084', the lock plates engraved with the maker's name within tight foliate scrolling decoration and mounted on a checkered walnut stock inlaid with a white metal poncoin, SN:36431.Provenance: The Captain Allan Marshall Collection.Additional InformationOverall worn but solid condition with light surface dulling throughout, various scuffs and scrapes to the stock with a small area behind the top lever which appears to have been spliced in and fitted with an ebonite butt plate which has minor losses to the side. Length of pull 14.75" and the barrels are choked at cylinder and 3/4.

AYA; a 12 bore side-by-side sidelock hammer gun, the 30" barrels chambered with 2.75" chambers, and mounted with a raised textured flat rib, the lock plates engraved with tight foliate scrolls, and mounted with a checkered walnut stock, SN:55291.Provenance: The Captain Allan Marshall Collection.Additional InformationOverall very good condition showing little sign of use,. There is one small area of grazing to the blued finish on the barrels half way down the right hand side of the fore end. There is light wear to some of the checkering which has potentially been re-done at some point. Overall good condition with no head rattle. Length of pull 14.75" and the barrels are choked at 1/2 & Full.

Barrels choked at 1/4 & 3/4.

A large 8 bore side-by-side double trigger hammer gun, the 36" Damascus barrels with 3.25" chambers and mounted with a textured concave rib, the plain black action mounted onto a checkered walnut stock with inlaid white metal shield to the underside, SN:NVN.Provenance: The Captain Allan Marshall Collection.Additional InformationOverall very clean condition, showing very little sign of use, but some very light surface wear to the stock and action. the fore end has a very minor loss to a couple of places on the top edge and some very minor wear to the finish on the underside of the action. No name, there are remnants of a possible engraved name which is now lost. It has been proofed for black powder, not for nitro.
