Jesus Rafael Soto (Venezuelan, 1923 - 2005) Titled: "Multiple III" (from Jai Alai Series), 1969 Signed "Soto" and numbered on base. Numbered: (141/300) Medium: Silkscreen on Plexiglas with metal rods Jesus Rafael Soto was born in Ciudad Bolivar and studied at the School of Visual and Applied Arts in Caracas. During this period he became acquainted with Los Disidentes, a group of artists that included Alejandro Otero and Carlos Cruz-Diez. In addition to his fellow compatriots, Soto's work was influenced by Kazimir Malevich and Piet Mondrian. The main artistic tenets evinced in Soto's works are pure abstraction, vibrations, progressions and geometric rigor. They can be seen through the use of lines and superimposed squares in his sculptures, made with paint and a series of industrial and synthetic materials. He spent much time in Europe, becoming a key member of the Group Zero movement, which included such artists as Lucio Fontana, Gunther Uecker and Yves Klein. As a result, Soto's work also incorporates modernist concepts such as light, time, movement, color manipulation and space. All of these facets place him as an important figure within the Kinetic and Op Art movements. Dimensions: 19.75 x 6 x 6 in.

Ed Vebell (American, 1921 - 2018) "Edison Invents Electric Light" Signed lower right. Original Acrylic painting on Hot Press Illustration Board. Provenance: Collection of James A. Helzer (1946-2008), Founder of Unicover Corporation. This painting is the original painting which was published on the Fleetwood Commemorative Cover for Epic Events in American History series issued in 1985. From the beginning, circumstances decreed that Americans would address themselves not so much to "Natural" Philosophy, as to the immediate and practical potentialities of Science. They were a new people in a new world. New methods of farming were required, now tools, even new measurements. The American Philosophical Society made this clear in its 1769 Charter: it was to address itself to agriculture, botany, navigation, and similar subjects. Benjamin Franklin -- who had seized the lightning from the skies and toppled tyrants from their thrones -- was one of the Society's first presidents, and a model to its members. Thomas Alva Edison was in many ways Franklin's legitimate successor. Like Franklin, he could not refrain from improving everything he set eyes on. Not a theoretical scientist, he was the most successful of all scientists interested in the well being and convenience, the wealth and health of the ordinary man. Everything he touched, he improved: the telegraph, the telephone, the phonograph, photography, motion pictures, and -- perhaps most important of all -- electric lighting, one of the greatest boons to mankind. When he was 80, Congress awarded Edison a Gold Medal for "inventions that revolutionized civilization." More literally than anyone else of our time, Edison merits the motto: Fiat Lux, let there be light. Image Size: 19.75 x 21 in. Overall Size: 26.5 x 26.75 in. Unframed. (B05695)
Mel Crawford (Canadian, B. 1925) "Carolling in Cathedral at Christmas" Signed lower right. Original Mixed Media painting on Illustration Board. Provenance: Collection of James A. Helzer (1946-2008), Founder of Unicover Corporation. This painting is the original painting which was published on the Fleetwood First Day Cover for the U.S. 20c NiccolinCowper Madonna, by Raphael stamp issued October 28, 1983. The magical season of Christmas is a time of merriment; but it is also a time for sincere reverence. On Christmas morning, churches all over the world hold special, joyous services to celebrate, with rich ceremony, the humble birth of the Savior of the World . . . Jesus Christ. Merriment and reverence are united by a special bond during this sacred time of the year. The sincere, yet joyful worship of Jesus Christ as the Babe of Bethlehem . . . born in humility . . . was especially stressed by St. Francis of Assisi. This Holy Saint is associated with Christmas because of his great love of the simple religious songs which were the forerunners of our modern Christmas carols. He once advised a devout Brother to mix light-hearted singing with his preaching -- "for what are the servants of God if not His minstrels, who ought to stir and incite the hearts of men to spiritual joy?" When St. Francis celebrated Christmas in Greccio in 1223 it was humble indeed . . . especially when compared with the Christmases of today, which involve diverse customs developed through two thousand years. But all Christmas customs, whether rooted in pagan festivals, folklore, or church rituals, express that "spiritual joy" of which St. Francis spoke . . . a resplendent joy to the world which we glory in manifesting, both in song and praise, during the magical season of Christmas. Mel Crawford (Canadian, B. 1925) "Bringing Home the Tree" Signed lower right. Original Mixed Media painting on Illustration Board. Provenance: Collection of James A. Helzer (1946-2008), Founder of Unicover Corporation. Imagine a lone cowboy riding the open range a hundred years ago. He's been chasing stray doggies for two weeks. He's tired, cold, and just a little bit lonely. But tonight it's Christmas Eve, so he hurries into town to pick up some gifts the shopkeeper has been holding for him. Then one last stop along the trail to cut down the little spruce tree he's been keeping his eye on for months. He heads home with his pack horse loaded with Christmas spirit. A light snow is falling and he can see through the flakes a familiar puff of smoke curling up from his cabin. Inside, his family is cooking Christmas dinner and eagerly watching out the window for his return. Christmas in the Old West was very different from Christmas today, and yet it some ways it was very much the same. Image Size: 14 x 12 in. Overall Size: 17.25 x 15 in. Unframed. (B07720)
Shannon Stirnweis (American, B. 1931) "Statue of Liberty" Signed center left. Original Oil painting on Illustration Board. Provenance: Collection of James A. Helzer (1946-2008), Founder of Unicover Corporation. The Lady, the Goddess, Miss Liberty -- she has been called many names, but she has always been the symbol of freedom. Our grand Lady of the Harbor evokes the hopes and dreams of all those who gaze upon her brilliant face and flock to her open shores. The Statue was a gift from France to the people of the United States -- whose striving for liberty and social justice helped inspire the French in their own search for liberty. To help bring the vision of the statue to reality, the French government enlisted the help of a young sculptor, Frederic Auguste Bartholdi. Initially given the name Liberty Enlightening the World, Bartholdi envisioned the statue to embody the everlasting spirit of Liberty, which would serve as an inspiration for all nations, for all peoples, for all times. After experimenting with several models, Bartholdi revealed the statue in her final form: a serene but forceful woman in classical garb, with an upheld torch of freedom, a crown of radiant light, with chains of bondage broken at her feet, and a sacred tablet inscribed with the date of the Declaration of Independence. Since her dedication in 1886, the Statue of Liberty has stood proudly in New York Harbor, beckoning the thousands of immigrants from faraway lands to her free and prospering shores. The story of over one hundred million Americans literally cannot be told apart from the story of the Statue of Liberty. Image Size: 13.25 x 16 in. Overall Size: 18.25 x 22 in. Unframed. (B10324)
Tom McNeely (Canadian, B. 1935) "Columbus' Ship Approaching Land" Signed lower right. Original Watercolor painting on Paper. Provenance: Collection of James A. Helzer (1946-2008), Founder of Unicover Corporation. This painting is the original which was published on the Fleetwood First Day Cover for the U.S. 29c Columbus Voyage; Approaching Land issued April 24, 1992. By the 5th century B.C., Greek astronomers and mathematicians realized the earth was spherical in shape. Several centuries later, a mathematician named Eratosthenes calculated a surprisingly accurate circumference of the earth, but his discoveries were overshadowed by Ptolemy, an Egyptian mathematician of the 2nd century B.C. whose observations of astronomy and geography guided scientific thought until the 16th century. Experienced mariners such as Columbus followed Ptolemy's dictums, but his ancient miscalculations of the earth's circumference made land masses appear much closer by sea than they actually were. Despite some popular legends, few sailors of Columbus's day believed the world was flat. When mutinous rumblings echoed below the decks of his ships, Columbus knew it was not fear of falling off the edge of the world that roused his crews' ire -- it was fear of the wind. The caravels, built to sail into the wind, had never before carried sailors so far from home. Could these sturdy ships carry them safely back to Spain against strong easterly winds? With rousing cries of "Adelante!", Columbus allayed their fears and assured them that land would soon be sighted. Events proved him right, for the Journal of the First Voyage dated October 12 recorded: "At two hours after midnight appeared the land, at a distance of two leagues." Convinced they had reached the rich Indies, Columbus and his men waited to see what manner of land sunrise brought to light. Image Size: 23.25 x 21.25 in. Overall Size: 24 x 21.25 in. Unframed. 2016 Piaggio Ape TM Transmission: automaticMileage:205The Piaggio Ape is a three-wheeled light commercial vehicle, manufactured and marketed by Piaggio as an adaption of the company's Vespa scooter. It has been in continuous production since its 1948 introduction and offered in numerous body configurations to serve a wide range of utilitarian functions.Initially marketed as the VespaCar or TriVespa, Piaggio subsequently marketed the utility vehicle as the Ape, derived from the Italian for bee; its scooter marketed as the Vespa, meaning wasp. Currently two model ranges are offered, the Ape 50 with a 49.8 cc petrol engine and the larger Ape TM which comes available with a 218cc petrol engine or a 422cc diesel engine. This particular example is the TM model which is powered by the larger 218cc engine and is presented in white with a cream interior. The doors are canvas and the roof is white canvas providing some protection to the elements but ultimately providing a lot of enjoyment to anyone travelling in it. The present owner has used this TM sparingly to go the pub in or to take his grandchildren around the garden in it for fun rides. Either way, this is something which will bring a smile to anyone’s face, it has only covered a mere 205 miles from new and comes with a V5 registration document and a current MoT test certificate which expires in February 2022 – great!Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.
1964 Triumph 5TA Transmission: manualMileage:18962The Speed Twin 5T was made by Triumph at their Coventry and, later, Meriden factories. Edward Turner, Triumph’s Chief Designer and Managing Director, launched the Triumph Speed Twin at the 1937 National Motorcycle Show. It was a 500cc OHV vertical twin in a lightweight frame and the first truly successful British parallel twin, setting the standard for many twins to follow. After World War II the Speed Twin was responsible for the survival of Triumph and every major British marque offered a 500cc twin designed on similar lines to the Speed Twin. Further development led to the 1959 model 5TA with a unit engine and gearbox construction and styling changes including the unpopular 'Bathtub' fairing which became more and more abbreviated as the model developed before disappearing altogether for the last year of production in 1966.Benefitting recently from fresh paintwork, this fine example is presented in the superb colour combination of light green and silver tank which perfectly complement this Triumph's image. Over recent years this 500cc 5TA has had a full rebuild and is described as in good running order; however, some fine fettling still may be required to improve its reliability on the road having not had much use since completion including the clutch benefitting from minor attention and a small oil leak from the rear pushrod covers. We are informed the engine and the gear box perform well and it is described as a generally well sorted example. Whilst rebuilt as a 5TA this Triumph has had panels replaced and an alternative seat fitted to move it away from the original bathtub rear; however, as a number matching example, at the heart of it, it still retains its originality whilst being tastefully altered. Offered with the UK V5C registration document and presented today as a fine-looking Triumph, this is a very usable classic that would be great for ride-outs in the summer!Guide Price £5,000 - £7,000Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. 1974 Rover P6 3500 Transmission: automaticMileage:15807The P6 was announced on 9th October 1963, just before the Earls Court Motor Show. The vehicle was marketed first as the Rover 2000 and was a complete ‘clean sheet’ design intended to appeal to a larger number of buyers than earlier models such as the P4 it replaced. The 3500 was introduced in April 1968 (one year after the Rover company was purchased by Triumph's owner, Leyland) and continued to be offered until 1977. The manufacturer asserted that the light metal V8 engine weighed the same as the four-cylinder unit of the Rover 2000, and the more powerful car's maximum speed of 114mph as well as its 10.5 second acceleration time from 0-60 mph were considered impressive, and usefully faster than most of the cars of this price and specifications. In comparison, tested by Motor magazine in the issue published on 20th April 1968, it achieved a maximum speed of 117mph, 0-60 mph in 9.5 seconds, with a standing quarter mile in 17.6 seconds. This Rover 3500 was originally registered in January 1974 and presents in blue with a black interior. The car still displays a Broadway Autos of Cricklewood dealer sticker. Although the engine has not been started for a while however it can be turned over by hand. This automatic example of the biggest engine version of the P6 is offered without reserve. It would be lovely to see this Rover back on the road. SEC 698M is an ideal restoration project that could prove extremely rewarding.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. 1961 Bedford J.O. Pick-Up Transmission: automaticMileage:Bedford Vehicles, usually shortened to just Bedford, was produced by Vauxhall Motors which was ultimately owned by General Motors. Established in 1930 and constructing commercial vehicles, Bedford Vehicles was a leading international truck brand, with substantial export sales of light, medium, and heavy trucks throughout the world. It was GM Europe's most profitable venture for several years. Perhaps the major event of the 1950's was the transfer of all non-car based commercial vehicle manufacture to the former Vauxhall shadow factory at Boscombe Road, Dunstable. Bedford's Dunstable plant, dating originally from 1942, was extensively rebuilt and extended between 1955 and 1957 when all production lines were said to be over a mile long. Subsequently, all commercial vehicle manufacture would be concentrated here with only vans and car based commercials remaining at the Luton plant. The Bedford TJ was first manufactured in 1958 and was an updated version of the TD range. The TJ was available in the United Kingdom up until 1975, after 1975 it was manufactured only for export. Production continued until 1986, after that it was manufactured by AWD into the early 1990s. Petrol and diesel engines were available; the lightest (J.O. designation) could be specified with the 2.6 litre straight six petrol engine from the Vauxhall Cresta. TJs were not large sellers within the UK, it is thought some 5,000 J.0.'s were manufactured with a mere 20 remaining in the UK.This fantastic example of this rare ‘commercial’ vehicle has just been the subject of a full frame off, nut and bolt restoration costing an eye watering £75,000 of which £15,000 was spent on the paint job alone! Being the 10th off the production line, with paperwork authenticating, this makes this particular pick-up very desirable and probably one of the finest and oldest on the market today. The exterior colours of metallic red with red/beige interior are just two of the vehicle’s highlights. It really does have to be seen to be appreciated.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.
2013 Jaguar XF Sportbrake Transmission: automaticMileage:82894The XF is a rear-wheel-drive executive car that was manufactured by Jaguar Cars at their Castle Bromwich assembly plant in Birmingham and was a replacement for the aging S-Type. Having been designed by Jaguar’s design director Ian Callum, the car was launched at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, with deliveries to customers commencing in March 2008. The XF was launched with a variety of trims called, depending on country, 'SE', 'Luxury', 'Premium Luxury', 'Portfolio', 'SV8' (or 'Supercharged') and 'R'. For the UK market, company car-friendly 'Executive Edition' and 'SE Business' models with lower tuned versions of the 3.0 litre and 2.2 litre diesel engines respectively were available. The interior included air conditioning vents which are flush fitting in the dash, rotating open once the engine is started, and a rotating gearshift dial, marketed as Jaguar Drive Selector, which automatically elevates from the centre console. Another departure from the traditional Jaguar cabin ambiance is the use of pale-blue backlighting to the instruments, switchgear, and around major control panels. The XF has no cloth interior option, with all trim levels featuring leathers, wood veneers are available along with aluminium, carbon fibre and piano black lacquer trims.Originally registered on 15th October 2013, this XF is a very well equipped example being the ‘Premium Luxury’ model. As a Sportbrake edition, there is ample room and oceans of flexibility with this Jaguar. It will drive like a sedate saloon car but has the capacity to be a comfortable long tourer, ideal for trips abroad or enjoying the beauty of the British countryside. Finished in the delightful colour combination of light metallic blue with cream interior, this one owner Jaguar has been well maintained with six stamps in the service book. A superb car to drive with great ergonomics, this XF is supplied with a V5C registration book and a current MoT test certificate valid until 16th August 2021. A superb practical car for a relatively modest outlay.Guide £11,000-£13,000 Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. 1968 Sunbeam Stiletto Transmission: manualMileage:9000The Stiletto is the sporty version of the Imp, the Rootes Group's innovative small car devised to take on the Mini. The new small saloon was launched in 1963 and built at a brand new factory at Linwood, Scotland. It was co-designed by Michael Parkes, a development engineer for Ferrari, and one of its most notable features was the all-aluminium, high-revving overhead camshaft engine mounted at the rear, based on the lightweight Coventry Climax racing engine. The Imp also boasted all-independent suspension, plus access to the luggage tray behind the rear seats via the opening rear window, a very early hatchback. An improved Mk. II version appeared in 1966, which did away with such oddities as the pneumatic throttle control. Sharp rack and pinion steering makes these true driver's cars, with a sprightly turn of speed thanks to a light weight of just 1560lbs. The Stiletto, introduced in 1967, is distinguished from its lesser brethren by a sloping coupé rear roofline (on these the rear window doesn't open) and quad headlights, while it used the Imp Sport engine, producing 55bhp at 6100rpm and giving 90mph and 0-50mph in just over ten seconds. About 8,900 were made. This slightly modified example is presented in blue with black interior. It is fitted with a UNI gearbox which is the same as the one fitted to the Lotus Esprit. The engine is a Rover K Series producing about 120bhp, with fast road cams, forged pistons and has a modified flywheel. It is fitted with Cobra bucket seats, Momo steering wheel and custom-made wheels. The car is tax and MoT exempt and currently SORN. The car comes with some old receipts and MoT test certificates and instructions for parts including the gearbox. A rare coupé which were often campaigned in Hill Climbing in the early 1970s.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. 2002 Renault Avantime Privilege Transmission: automaticMileage:108200So sensational was the public and motoring press reaction in 1998 at the Paris Salon unveiling of their concept design gran-turismo super-MPV, Renault poured a staggering 1.4bn francs (€285m) into development of the world’s first MPV coupé. Remarkably, true to the original design, the 'Avantime', built by Matra, was a genuine mould-breaker that offered a luxurious cabin. Add to this an option to specify the highly capable three litre, V6 engine, the Avantime really delivered a truly exciting motoring experience.First registered to Renault UK Ltd., each 'prestige' dealership was allocated a showcase Avantime. HY02 XZN is 'Limited Edition' car Number 55. Specified as a top-of-the-range, three litre, V6 in 'Nocturn' metallic purple beneath silver roof-rails with black leather and carpets. Mr. Black has been the sole private registered keeper of this car from new, with annual usage reducing each year until the car was placed into storage for four years. Some light recommissioning took place last Summer and a fresh MoT test issued last September. The car is reported to present magnificently and drives smoothly. Historics are proud to present such a desirable Avantime, complete with both original keys, leather owner's zipper wallet, original dealer number plates (retained with the history file), Limited Edition Renault UK presentation book, box, plaque and certificate. With only 452 examples having been sold in righthand drive in the UK, such fine examples are becoming increasingly difficult to find, certainly one with just one recorded owner.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder Transmission: paddleMileage:18657Manufactured from 2003 to 2013 the Lamborghini Gallardo is important in the history of the Sant Agata firm as it represents the most successful model in their history. Both eminently usable and importantly, reliable, the V10 sportscar had total Audi backup which made it hugely desirable and subsequently, the most successful sportscar built from this particular Carrozzeria. Its secret lies in its light but stiff space frame chassis mounted to a five litre, V10 engine powering all four wheels on demand. Offered with two choices of transmission; a conventional six-speed manual transmission and an advanced six-speed electro-hydraulically controlled, semi-automatic which Lamborghini abbreviates to 'E-gear'. This allows the driver to make gear changes much faster than they could with a manual gearbox. This fastidiously maintained 2008, low mileage, right hand drive low ratio 'E-gear' car is offered in near faultless Grigio Lynx with Nero black leather trim. Well optioned from new with the Lamborghini branding package, it also features front nose lifting system, unicolour sportive interior, leather package 1, heated seats, heated wing mirrors, Bluetooth, anti-theft system, satellite navigation and a rear-view camera. Originally supplied by Lamborghini London, this Gallardo was first registered on 1st March 2008 and has benefited ever since from full main Lamborghini dealer service history; the last service being a comprehensive one with less than a thousand miles covered subsequently. The car looks and sounds as spectacular as any Lamborghini should with the performance to match and the vendor reports it to be just as incredible to drive as you would imagine.Supplied with a fully stamped service history, original book pack, a V5C registration document, previous MoT test certificates, many receipts and two keys. The condition of the car speaks for itself; it has wanted for nothing and looks incredibly handsome in Grigio Lynx. A true supercar and with a price tag of over £135,000 when new, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a properly maintained example. It would indeed be difficult to find a Gallardo in better condition.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. 2000 Renault Clio II RS (172 Phase 1) Transmission: manualMileage:44900The Renault Clio is a supermini car and was launched in 1990, and entered its fifth generation in 2019. The Clio has had substantial critical and commercial success, being consistently one of Europe's top-selling cars since its launch and it is largely credited with restoring Renault's reputation and stature after a difficult second half of the 1980s. The Clio is one of only two cars, the other being the Volkswagen Golf, to have been voted European Car of the Year twice, in 1991 and 2006. In 1998, Renault launched the Clio Renault Sport (also known as Clio RS for short, named Clio Renault Sport 172; 172 coming from the DIN method metric horsepower measurement), with a 2.0 L 16-valve engine and a top speed of 137 mph and only 1357 were produced. This lovely example of this rare model is presented in Titanium Silver with blue/grey leather and Alcantara interior. It was one of the first UK registered cars of this type and one of only 1,357 produced and being the early model, it has an aluminum body and gear shift light. The car comes with a good service history, Brembo HC front discs, air conditioning, power steering and had its cambelt change at 42,863 miles. These are rare ‘hot hatches’ and this particular example will not disappoint in any respect.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. 1971 Jaguar E-Type Series III 2+2 Coupé Transmission: manualMileage:76220By the mid-1960s, the Jaguar E-Type was appealing to the man with a young family but who were restricted by the size of the current Jaguar E-Type Coupé and its open topped sibling. This prompted Jaguar to offer a third option in the form of a 2+2 Coupé. By adding nine inches to the wheelbase and two inches in height, it was then possible to fit a rear seat capable of seating two adults in tolerable comfort. Of course the rear seat was more suited to children or, as 'The Motor' put it at the time, the car could 'extend Dad's youth for another seven years'. Robert Bell in Motor was quoted as saying at the time that all we expected to try was a new engine but what in fact we drove was a new car. Not a yowling, aggressive Ferrari-like machine with which, perhaps, most people associate a V12 engine but a very smooth, quiet and refined grand touring sports car.Manufactured on 3rd March 1971, this E-Type was built as a left hand drive model and was intended to be sold in Italy. However as the Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirms, this order was cancelled and the car remained with Jaguar Cars. The car appears to have undergone a colour change from light blue to British Racing Green and converted to right hand drive before it was finally despatched to Coombs in Guildford on 30th March 1973. Presenting now in very good order throughout, this E-Type starts on the button and runs exceedingly well; these long-legged tourers are ideal for a trip to the coast or to the South of France. With only four previous keepers, this Jaguar has clearly been very well cared for. The beige leather trim complements the exterior colour and she also has a full length Webasto sunroof. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a good history folder, this classically dynamic design is still a head turner. Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. 1991 Honda NSX Transmission: automaticMileage:34772The Honda NSX was produced between 1990 and 2005 and is equipped with a mid-engined, rear-wheel drive layout powered by an all-aluminium V6 featuring Honda's Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC) system. In 1984, Honda commissioned the Italian car designer Pininfarina to design the HPX (Honda Pininfarina Experimental), which had a mid-mounted 2.0 litre, V6 configuration. Following Honda's decision to pursue the project, the management informed the engineers that the new car would have to be as good as anything coming from both Italy and Germany. The HPX concept car evolved into the NSX (New Sportscar experimental). The original performance target for the NSX was the Ferrari 328; subsequently revised to the 348 as the design neared completion. The bodywork design had been specifically researched after studying the 360° visibility inside an F-16 fighter jet. The car's strong chassis, rigidity and handling capabilities were the results of Ayrton Senna's input with NSX's chief engineers while testing the prototype car at Honda's Suzuka Circuit during the development stages. Today, the NSX is still considered by owners of the marque as one of the most reliable exotic cars ever manufactured with many examples comfortably exceeding 100,000 miles without serious reliability issues. This superb example is presented in black with a black leather and Alcantara interior which is in wonderful original condition. The car has covered only 34,772 Kms from new and is powered by the smooth 3.0 litre Honda engine which is mated to an automatic gearbox. The car was imported from Japan (as were many of these models) and has been lovingly looked after and lightly used ever since. It was purchased by the present owner in 2017 from a well-known garage in London. The car comes with its original Japanese history as well as a fully stamped service book from the UK and all MoT test certificates which confirms light and consistent use over the last few years. A recent service was carried out at a Honda main dealer which included a cambelt service. Its superb and totally relevant registration number is included with the car and it is fitted with a Global Telemetrics tracker which can be monitored via an app. This car is an appreciating classic that can be driven every day, without the problems associated with many classic sports cars. Equally capable of being driven from home to the shops on a Sunday morning, or a blast down to the South of France. The car has also recently undergone a meticulous and thorough detailing, which has resulted in it looking absolutely stunning throughout.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. 1922 Studebaker Light Six Tourer Transmission: manualMileage:Established as a buggy company before the Civil War, Studebaker entered the automotive business in 1904, building bodies for chassis supplied by Garford of Elyria, Ohio. By 1913, the company was building its own cars, beginning a tradition of well-built automobiles from South Bend, Indiana, that would continue for the next 51 years. By the time Studebaker moved to Canada in 1964, it was the country’s oldest automobile manufacturer and among the longest surviving car manufactures in the world. The Light Six was in production for seven years, with modern bodywork and styling making this a highly desirable vehicle to own. More than 200,000 were manufactured by Studebaker. This interesting Studebaker was stripped down to the bare chassis by a father and son. It was then fully rebuilt to a very good standard using either new or remanufactured parts. At the same time, a Morris Minor 1000 A-series engine was fitted together with an alternator. This modification means this Studebaker is very reliable and fun to drive. She has been wrapped in blue as the car was required for some film work; underneath the wrapping the colour is white. The blue wrap can easily be removed and the car could be a great edition to a wedding car company, particularly in view of the engine modification. This great looking American classic is UK registered, tax exempt and ready to enjoy immediately.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. 1989 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster Transmission: manualMileage:74000Mercedes-Benz have been producing an SL model or range of models since 1954. The similarly styled but mechanically unrelated 190 followed in 1955, completing the first generation of cars. The second generation SL's began with the 230 in 1963. It was distinguished by its lower waistline, big curved screens and a distinctive optional hardtop that earned the model its nickname of `pagoda top'. Over its nine years of production, the second generation SL's engine grew in capacity from 2.3 litre (230 SL) to 2.5 litre (250 SL) and finally to a 2.8 litre (280 SL). The larger, third generation SL was launched in 1971, initially with just a 3.5-litre engine (350 SL) mated to four-speed automatic transmission. The car featured a two-door monocoque body shell with independent suspension all round, coil springs and anti-roll bar at the front, semi-trailing arms, coil springs and anti-roll bar at the rear. The power assisted steering was Daimler-Benz's own re-circulating ball system. Over its 17 year reign, the R107 range was powered by no less than eight different engines - two sizes of straight-six unit and six versions of 90-degree V8 including the three litre straight six we have offered here produced from 1985.Originally registered on 25th January 1989, this Mercedes-Benz presents in very good order throughout. The light metallic blue coachwork is in very good order and is complemented by a blue interior that is again in exceedingly good order. The wheels are unmarked having been recently refurbished at the same time new tyres were fitted. The blue mohair hood appears to have been replaced quite recently; clearly this is a car that has been very well cared for throughout its life. A well stamped service book accompanies this 300 SL, as does a V5C registration document, 21 previous MoT test certificates and invoices dating back to when the car was first registered. The 2962cc straight-six engine is a very reliable unit and offers reasonable economy figures. Manufactured in the final year of 107 production, these cars were fully galvanised, therefore did not suffer from the corrosion issues of early models. Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. 1990 Mini Mayfair Transmission: manualMileage:22298The Mini was a made by the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and its successors from 1959 until 2000. The original is considered a British icon of the 1960’s, and its space-saving front-wheel drive layout which allowed 80% of the car's floorpan to be used for passengers and luggage, influenced a generation of car makers. In 1999 the Mini was voted the second most influential car of the 20th century, behind the Ford Model T. The Mini Mk. I had three major UK updates; the Mk. II, the Clubman and the Mk. III. The Mini Cooper and Cooper ‘S’ were sportier versions that were successful as rally cars, winning the Monte Carlo Rally four times from 1964 through to 1967. Initially Minis were marketed under the Austin and Morris names, as the Austin Seven and Morris Mini Minor, until Mini became a marque in its own right in 1969. Throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s the British market received numerous ‘special editions’ of the Mini, which shifted the car from a mass-market car into a fashionable icon.Supplied originally by Wadham Stringer in Guildford on 1st April 1990 at a cost of £6,075.00. The only optional extra fitted to the car was automatic transmission which at the time cost £718.39 plus VAT. This one owner vehicle has only covered 22,298 miles from new and presents in very good original condition. This particular car has the front and rear bumpers and door handles painted in grey, which was a rare specification order at the time. Finished in Henley Blue with a light blue velour interior, this delightful one owner Mini Mayfair is supplied with the original sales invoice and a number of invoices, together with two sets of keys, a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 19th February 2022.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. 1979 Range Rover Classic Transmission: manualMileage:33506Although now responsible for a whole lifestyle movement, the Range Rover had more humble beginnings. The first generation Range Rover was introduced in 1970 and was not designed as a luxury 4x4; whilst certainly up-market compared to preceding Land Rover models, the early Range Rovers had fairly basic, utilitarian interiors with vinyl seats and plastic dashboards that were designed to be washed down with a hose. Convenience features such as power assisted steering, carpeted floors, air conditioning, cloth or leather seats and wooden interior trim were fitted later in the production run or as options. Marketed as 'A Car For All Reasons', the Range Rover was more capable off-road than the Land Rover but was much more comfortable, offering a top speed in excess of 100mph.This handsome three-door Range Rover was built in 1979 and was imported by its car enthusiast vendor in 2014. Presenting extremely well in the period colour of Bahama Gold with a retrimmed beige interior, we are informed that a £5,000 recommissioning and light restoration was undertaken by the owner at the start of his tenure. This appears to be money well spent. Since then, this Range Rover has been dry stored. The vendor states that this classic 4x4 from the world famous Solihull factory is a joy to drive and is as comfortable as it is practical. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document, this MoT exempt Land Rover is sensibly estimated given the huge popularity of what is considered by many as the best 4x4 by far.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. 1964 MG B Roadster Transmission: manualMileage:60700The MGB was launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA and was introduced as a four-cylinder roadster with a coupé added in 1965. It was a relatively modern design at the time of its introduction, utilising a monocoque structure instead of the traditional 'body-on-frame' construction used on both the MGA and MG T-types. The lightweight design reduced manufacturing costs while adding to overall vehicle strength. Manual windows were standard and a comfortable driver's compartment offered plenty of legroom. The MGB's performance was considered brisk at the time of its introduction with a 0-60mph time of just over 11 seconds; this was aided by the relatively light weight of the car. Handling was one of MGB's strong points. The three-bearing 1798cc, B-Series engine produced 95bhp at 5,400rpm with the engine upgraded in October 1964 to a five-bearing crankshaft to improve reliability. This very good 1964 MGB Roadster is a sought-after pull-handle model and has the benefit of being fitted with overdrive. Fully restored between 2009 and 2012 this car has only covered 8,000 miles since. During the restoration the engine was replaced with a later, rebuilt, five bearing crank engine and the gearbox with overdrive was overhauled. Recent work carried out included overhauling the carburettors, fitting the correct cooling fan, new hoses and new spark plugs. Finished in dark blue with black interior, this MGB roadster is supplied with a virtually unused black hood, its original black tonneau cover, a V5 registration document, a Heritage Certificate and a file containing old MoT test certificates going back to 1985 and invoices from the restoration that took place around 2010. This represents an opportunity to purchase a car that will give the new owner good, reliable motoring in this popular marque.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. 2002 Mercedes-Benz CL500 Transmission: automaticMileage:97584The name CL stands for the German ‘Coupé Leicht’ or Coupé Light. The CL-Class is based on the S-Class full-size luxury car known at first as the SEC and later S coupé. It was spun off into its own, current name in 1996. The CL continued to follow the same development cycle as the S, although riding on a shorter wheelbase and sharing the same engines albeit with less choice as only the higher-output power trains were offered. CL coupés come equipped with the very latest in Mercedes-Benz technology and, along with the S-Class saloons, the CL coupés received all new technological features. This luxury Mercedes-Benz gives S-Class equipment with coupé looks and pillarless lines. Powered by a 5.0 litre V8, this epitome of German engineering presents in metallic silver with a black leather interior. Contained within the history file for this car is the V5C registration document, a stamped service book, and a fresh MoT test certificate. Offered to auction without reserve, these large engine Mercedes’ represent a lot of car and a future classic at a fraction of its original cost.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. 1961 Rover P4 100 Saloon Transmission: manualMileage:36211Manufactured from 1949 through to 1964, the Rover P4 series of cars were produced in several different models; the Rover 60, 75, 80, 90, 95 100, 105 and 110. Apart from the 60 and 80, the models all had inline six-cylinder engines with overhead inlet valves and side exhaust valves. Various transmissions were used including either a manual overdrive box or, until 1959, the option of the manual gearbox with a free wheel unit. The bodies were mounted on a separate chassis with independent suspension by coil springs at the front and semi-elliptical leaf springs at the rear. By 1950 the brakes were fully hydraulic with discs at the front being standard from 1959. The P4 90 was replaced by the more powerful 100 in 1960. The car was luxurious with its silky 2.6 litre straight six engine and stopping power via the power assisted Girling brakes with discs fitted at the front. The coachwork featured an alloy bonnet, doors and boot lid with the interior finished in wood and leather. The Rover P4 100 on offer here was purchased by the current vendor in 1984 and has been used regularly throughout their ownership, mainly during weekends and summer months. Dry stored for a number of years, this Rover has recently been treated to a light recommissioning and is currently in good running condition, however it would benefit from further work to bring it back to its very best. The grey paintwork is flat in places and the interior is showing some signs of age. This two owner from new example is showing a mere 36,211 miles on the odometer and comes with a history file including the V5 registration document and sundry invoices. We are sure this car will be a lot of fun for the new owner!Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. The poster features a painting depicting a dark stormy sea with Japanese boats with Imperial War flags shining light on the sinking armoured cruiser Rurik engulfed in smoke, with explosions and smoke in the background. The Russian Empire and the Empire of Japan fought the Russo-Japanese War during 1904 and 1905 over rival imperial ambitions in Manchuria and Korea. The major theatres of military operations were the Liaodong Peninsula and Mukden in Southern Manchuria, and the seas around Korea, Japan, and the Yellow Sea. The complete victory of the Japanese military surprised international observers and transformed the balance of power in both East Asia and Eastern Europe, resulting in Japan's emergence as a great power and Russia's decline in prestige and influence in Eastern Europe. The loss of life without victory and the humiliating defeat for the Russian Empire contributed to growing domestic unrest which culminated in the 1905 Russian Revolution and accelerated the disintegration of the Russian autocracy. Fair condition, creasing, staining, tears, foxing, small paper loss on bottom margin. Country of issue: Japan, designer: Unknown, size (cm): 47x64, year of printing: 1904
