A late 19th century diamond and pearl brooch in the Art Nouveau taste, designed as an open scrolling lyre form set throughout with old round cut and rose cut diamonds, around a similarly diamond set six petalled flowerhead with 4.5mm pearl centre (pearl not tested), with a further diamond set asymmetric scroll beneath, suspending a short pendant with two more graduated diamonds; length 5.3cm, clasp with safety catch; in a modern light blue Garrards case
A two stone diamond ring, the two round brilliant cut diamonds claw set obliquely with the plain shank tapering to curve around and between them in an S line, white precious metal stamped 'Plat', ring size N, total estimated weight of diamonds 1.85cts, cased The ring mount has light scuffs appropriate to light wear, the claws are sound and stones secure. The diamonds are good - bright and well-matched- and estimated at colour F-G, clarity VS1 or better - but the setting makes accurate assessment of the diamonds difficult; they might perhaps be worth sending to a grading lab for certification (when they would be unset for assessment).

Joseph Crawhall, RSW (British, 1861-1913) Girl with a plait and a boy charcoal 18 x 18cm (7 x 7in) Provenance: From the Figure Drawing Collection of K A T Davey, CB Born in 1861 in Morpeth, England, Joseph Crawhall worked largely in Scotland, except for the period 1884-93 when he frequently travelled to Morocco and Spain. He became closely associated with the Glasgow Boys in the 1880s and 1890s; and is traditionally grouped with these artists who emphasised the importance of light, colour and composition over minute finish and anecdotal subject matter fashionable at the time. He studied at King's College, London, before training under the French painter and sculptor, Aimé Nicolas Morot, in Paris in 1882. He specialised in painting animals - birds in particular - and is known for his inventive use and mastery of the watercolour medium. He excelled at capturing both appearance and character of his subject with such economy of line that Sir John Lavery once commented that no other artist "could say more with fewer brush strokes." Girl with a plait - a little discolouration to the background. No. 39.
Manner of Jan Asselijn (Dutch, circa 1610-1652) Landscape with sheep and peasants oil on canvas 59 x 48cm (23 x 19in) Provenance: Julius Grant Duff and by descent Very yellowed and discoloured varnish and frame has chips. Vrients (Jan Baptista), Angliae et Hiberniae Accurata Descriptio Veteribus et Recentioribus Nominibus Illustrata, published Antwerp, circa 1612, fine hand coloured engraved map, extensively decorated with a strapwork cartouche, sea monsters, mermaids and Neptune, a genealogical 'family tree' of the Kings and Queens of England from William I to James I dominates the right hand side of the map, light overall toning, 440 x 575 mm, Latin text on verso This map first appears in Abraham Ortelius's atlas of 1606. This slightly later state shows the alteration to the central circular panel on the family tree which now states that James I is king of Britain and not king of Britain and France.
