Artist Unknown (19th/20th Century), oil on board, The Haddon Hall steamer boat at sea, signed indistinctly 'J.Bruy...' to the lower left, framed, measuring 30cm x 45cm, & 46cm x 60cm overallUnder UV examination there doesn't appear to be anything worth noting that can't be seen in natural light. Much like lot 638, this painting is also slightly dirty but has possibly been cleaned at some stage. It appears to be in a later frame.
J.Thompson (19th Century), oil on canvas, Two countryside landscapes, one depicting figures beside a footbridge, signed indistinctly to the lower right, displayed within a moulded gilt frame, 24cm x 44cm, & 48cm x 70cm overallUnder UV light, there doesn't appear to be anything worth noting that cannot be seen in normal light. Generally both paintings are quite dirty and dull. The canvases are rigid and the paint is cracking in areas. The canvas of second painting, depicting hills to the backdrop, is split significantly in two main areas to the upper section.
William Thornley (fl.1858-1898), oil on canvas, A steamer boat at sea, signed to the lower left, framed, 38cm x 48cm, & 56cm x 64cm overallUnder UV examination, there doesn't appear to be anything worth noting that cannot be seen in normal light. It looks to have been relined and also reframed. It may be that at some point the painting has been cleaned too. There are some patches where the paint appears to be thinner, including above the bow. Generally, the canvas does look quite dirty, with spots above the mast and within the sea.
