JOHN LEE HOOKER - SINGS BLUES - A ultra rare original 1st US pressing of John Lee Hooker's 1960 LP "Sings Blues" (KING 727). This pressing has the "crownless" King label with silver print. This version has the original pearls on the front- this record was later reissued in 1962 which was split in red and blue. The condition of the record is a strong VG. There are some light surface marks, but no deeper scratches or "feelable" marks. The labels are nice and clean with only minor signs of spindle wear. The sleeve is in VG condition. The heavy card sleeve shows little wear on the front, with just very light edge wear. On the rear there are two pen markings that read 1315E- these are small and are placed in the top right corner. This album shows examples of the gripping synthesis of folk blues and electric power that marks Hooker's early work, and must not be missed.
KENNY BURRELL - INTRODUCING - A fantastic 1st US pressing of the 1956 LP (Blue Note BLP 1523). This pressing is identified as having RVG etched, Plastylite P (ear) in run out groove, 161 Lexington Ave NYC on label and no "R". The record is in Ex condition with only one or two extremely light wispy marks to note. The unlaminated kakubuchi-style sleeve is in Ex condition with some light edge wear.
KENNY BURRELL - ON VIEW AT THE FIVE SPOT CAFÉ - Lovely 1st US pressing of Kenny Burrell with Art Blakey - On View At The Five Spot Café (Blue Note BLP 4021). Released in 1959, this copy is identified as having RVG stamped in deadwax, Plastylite P (ear), and 47 West 63rd NYC on the label. The record is in Ex condition with a light surface marks on side 1 track 1, but no deeper marks. The sleeve is in Ex condition with the original import stickers on the reverse sleeve.
GRANT GREEN - FEELIN' THE SPIRIT - 1st US pressing of Grant Green with Herbie Hancock, Butch Warren, Billy Higgins and Garvin Masseaux - Feelin' The Spirit (Blue Note BLP 4132). This pressing has Van Gelder stamped, Plastylite P (ear) and the New York USA address. The record is in VG+ condition with a couple of light surface marks, but no deep scratches. The sleeve is in fantastic Ex+ condition with some very slight edge wear.
LOU DONALDSON - Collection of 18 x original title LP's to include Japanese pressings. To include Light-Foot (Japanese ST-84053), New Faces-New Sounds (Japanese BLP 5021), Rough House Blues (US cadet LP 768), Sweet Slumber (Japanese GXF 3068 ltd. Edition) and Sweet Lou (BN-LA259). Condition is generally Ex to Ex+.
FREDDIE ROACH - Collection of 2 x original US Blue Note pressings. Titles are as follows: Down To Earth (BLP 4113) w/ Plastylite P "ear", VAN GELDER and "Inc" New York USA on label. The record is in brilliant Ex+ condition with only one or two extremely light wispy marks. The sleeve is VG with tape repair around the perimeter- though this may be able to be removed with care. "Brown Sugar" (BLP 4168) has the same features w/Plastylite P "ear", VAN GELDER and "Inc" New York USA on label. The record is also Ex+ with again, only one or two very light wispy marks. The sleeve is VG+ with tape repair around the perimeter, but this is not as noticeable as the other copy.
SOLOMON ILORI - Fantastic 1st US Blue Note (BLP 4136) of Solomon Ilori And His Afro-Drum Ensemble - African High Life. This pressing has the Plastylite ear, "Inc New York" address and VAN GELDER identifications. The record is in Ex condition with only a couple of very light surface marks. The thick sleeve is in Ex condition with some minor staining on the reverse.
DON RENDELL QUINTET - ROARIN' - 2 copies of Don Rendell Quintet - Roaring, both copies issued on Jazzland (JLP 51). One copy is VG+/VG with some light surface marks and tape repair (although it is not obvious that there are any tears) and the other copy is Ex/Ex with only a couple of very light marks/minor wear to sleeve.
MILES DAVIS - KIND OF BLUE - Limited edition "Supercut" pressing, which was "Mastered and pressed exclusively for readers of Hi-Fi today" by Nimbus Records (CBS BPG 62066). The record is in fantastic Ex+ condition with only one or two extremely light wispy marks, the sleeve is also Ex+ with virtually no wear.
SLIM HARPO - Collection of 2 x original LP's issued on Blue Horizon. He Knew The Blues (Post War Masters 7-63854) record is G+ with several surface marks but no deeper scratches or "feelable" marks. The sleeve is G+ with creasing to the front and a paper tear running along the top of the reverse. Trigger Finger (Post War Masters 2431013) record is VG+ with a couple of light surface marks, the sleeve is VG with a name on the front and wear on the reverse.
PERCY MAYFIELD/JOHN LEE HOOKER - 2 x original 1st pressing LP's. Titles are Percy Mayfield - My Jug And I (original red/black HMV - CLP 3572 - Ex/VG+ w/ light staining on the reverse) and John Lee Hooker - Blue! (original Fontana pressing FJL.119 lovely Ex vinyl with very few marks/VG+ w/ old price sticker on the front cover).
THE GRAHAM BOND ORGANIZATION - Very well presented 1st UK pressing of There's A Bond Between Us issued on black/blue Columbia (33SX 1750). The record is in VG+ condition. There are only a couple of quite light surface marks, and no deeper scratches. The labels are clean, though there are signs of spindle wear. The sleeve is in Ex condition. The front laminated design is clean with little wear, the rear (flip back design) has some light wear to the lamination and some minor staining.
PETER GREEN'S FLEETWOOD MAC - A delightful 1st UK mono pressing of the celebrated self titled 1968 album (Blue Horizon 7-63200). The record is in Ex condition with only one or two quite light wispy marks. The sleeve is in Ex+ condition. There is virtually no sign of wear apart from very slight ring wear on the front and perhaps some very slight edge wear. A1/B1 matrix codes.
MICHAEL GIBBS - Collection of 4 x original title LP's. Titles are Tanglewood 63 (SML 1087 quite lovely Ex+ vinyl with very few marks/Ex w/ extremely minor ring wear), S/T (1st UK Stereo SML 1063 again great Ex+ vinyl with only one or two very light marks/VG+ with some minor creasing), In The Public Interest (Super 2383 252 VG+ with heavy poly bag residue/Ex) and Just Ahead 2384-042 Ex/Ex with some poly bag residue).
THE NEWLANDERS - Extremely obscure 7" EP by The Newlanders, who in their own words "..constantly changing its style, beginning with rock, changing to R & B, attempting a few folk members, and now they prefer the Hames Brown, Wilson Pickett, Ottis Redding type numbers.." Privately pressed on Zeus records (Z S 6614), the record is in VG condition with some light surface marks, but nothing deep. The picture sleeve is in VG condition with some ring wear and some pink marker pen on the front (though this is not too obtrusive). A highly unusual side!
HAROLD MCNAIR AND RELATED - Collection of 2 x original LP's. Off Centre (John Cameron Quartet) is a 1st Stereo pressing on Deram (SML 1044). The record is VG+ with only a few quite light surface marks, the laminated sleeve is Ex with only some minor wear to the front lamination. The Fence (B & C Records CAS1016) record is Ex with very few markings, the sleeve can only be graded as G+; there are no major markings but the front "balloon" pocket has been torn away and as such, there is no balloon.
BLUES - Collection of 4 x original title LP's. Titles are John Mayall/Eric Clapton - Blues Breakers 1st Decca ffrr mono pressing (LK.4804 - VG w/ several light surface marks/VG), The Butterfield Blues Band - East-West (ED 212 - VG+/Ex), The Paul Butterfield Blues Band - S/T on early "Outstanding High Fidelity Recordings" Elektra label (EKL-294 VG/VG+) and Cream - Wheels Of Fire original Polydor UK mono pressing (G+/G+ with many surface marks on record 1 but nothing too deep and repaired sleeve).
HAROLD MCNAIR - 1st UK pressing of the S/T LP from Harold Mcnair from 1972 (B & C Records CAS 1045) "This self-titled album was issued posthumously in 1972 by the B&C label, which mixed tracks from the 1968 RCA self-titled album with later, unreleased recordings." The record is Ex with only one or two very light surface marks, the sleeve is VG with no rips or tears but some ring wear.
TUBBY HAYES - A lovely 1st UK pressing of The Tubby Hayes Quintet - Mexican Green issued on Fontana in 1968 (SFJL.911). The album was recorded on 2nd February, 1967, and 7th March, 1967, in London. The record is in Ex+ condition with perhaps one or two extremely light wispy marks. The sleeve is Ex with some very minor creasing on the rear.
Attributed to THOMAS HUDSON (1701-1779) British Portrait of a Gentleman, half-length, wearing a brown jacket and green overcoat Oil 59 x 74 cm, framed CONDITION REPORTS: Generally in good condition, expected wear, could do with a light clean, re-lined at some stage, various chalk numbers to verso, old catalogue label inscribed Christie's 23 Feb. 1977.
