WW1 Imperial German Prussian Reserves Feldmutze “Pork Pie” Cap, fine quality example of the field grey feldmutze with red piping to the crown and central band. Original reichs cockade and state cockade having reserve cross to the centre. Interior with cloth lining which appears to have one time been re-stitched. Some light fading and wear but generally a good example.
Victorian Crimea 1854-56 Medal 17th Lancers, medal with single clasp Sebastopol, officially impressed naming, “E LATHAM 17TH LANCERS”, complete with original ribbon and top mount bar. 1487 Edward Latham was born in Doncaster in 1835. He enlisted in the 17th Lancers in January 1855. He joined the regiment in the Crimea from Cork in July 1855. He was awarded the Crimea campaign medal with single clasp Sebastopol and Turkish Crimea medal. He was discharged in August 1856. The 17th Lancers were famous for being the centre during the Charge of the Light Brigade during the battle of Balaclava in the Crimean War.

Scarce 16 Bore Regulation Flintlock Holster Pistol for Police or Coastguard, barrel with flat top struck with military proofs, stepped bolted lock engraved with crowned GR and Tower on tail, roller bearing frizzen spring (cracked), regulation brass mounts, swivel ram rod, stock with BO broad arrows and government inspector’s stamps. Good condition, some light age wear, cock restored, lanyard ring removed. Overall 9.75”, barrel 4.5”.
WW2 Royal Air Force Distinguished Flying Cross and Bar Winners Tunic Attributed to Squadron Leader D W Trotter, fine example of the four pocket service dress tunic with brass kings crown buttons and fixed waist belt. Embroidered kings crown RAF pilots wings above medal ribbons which include the Distinguished Flying Cross with silvered rosette indicating the 2nd award bar. Interior pocket having tailors label with inked name “D W Trotter Esq 2.7.40”. Remains in very good overall condition showing just light service wear.
1901 CUP FINAL Official programme, matchcard, 1901 Cup Final, Tottenham Hotspurs( sic) v Sheffield United, 20/4/1901 at The Crystal Palace. The game ended in a 2-2 draw in front of 110, 820 spectators although the replay a week later had only 20, 470 spectators at Bolton to see Spurs win 3-1. This matchcard measures just under 5" x 7" and has Official Programme at the top, English Cup Final Tie below that, Tottenham Hotspurs v Sheffield United below that with Crystal Palace and Saturday April 20th 1901 Kick off 3-30pm being in lines below. The bottom half of the matchcard has the teams listed in 1-2-3-5 formation with the three match officials below the teams. The colour of the card is light blue and we have had the card tested by a leading forensic analyst who has stated that the card is definitely from that period, to the extent that under extreme magnification a piece of wood chipping can be seen under the surface. He further stated that it was a top quality item and had to have been produced by a commercial printer as at least ten different typefaces had been used including an ornate , rare typeface for "English Cup". We feel that it is likely to have been produced for the VIP guests and officials attending the Final as there is no price on the card but it was illegal to use the wording "Official Programme " if it was not. It was certainly not unusual in those days for Tottenham to be called Hotspurs with the additional "s". This was the first time that Spurs won the FA Cup and they were members of the Southern League at the time. The reverse side is blank and there is a tape mark across the card close to the top edge where it has been laid down at some time , perhaps in a scrapbook. Minor crease with slight tear and the vendors family bought it at a leading auction house a number of years ago for a five figure sum. Generally good
EXETER / CHELSEA Very scarce 4 Page programme for the friendly between Exeter City and Chelsea 14/8/1973 played at Dawlish at short notice after the local side were refused permission by the FA to play Chelsea. Dawlish crossed out the word Dawlish on the front cover and replaced it with Exeter in green. Each programme was given a number also written in green on the right hand corner. Light fold. Generally good

A Victorian coromandel and brass inlaid vanity case, opening to reveal a fitted interior, with Bramah lock CONDITION REPORTS Width 33cm x 18cm high x depth 24.5 approx. Numerous light surface scratches to the wood, some tarnishing to the brass edging, possibly some areas of fading and discolouration. There are two splits appearing across the top and a possible old repair to one of them. The velvet to the interior has some wear and some areas of fading. There is a tear to the velvet on the inside of the lid and a small tear to the inside right of the lid. The leather to the interior has some scuffs and scratches. Accretions and wear. Some light surface scratches to the metal tops of the bottles and jars. Some light surface scratches and scuffs to the glass and some nibbles to the edges of a couple of them. The end of the penknife blade is missing. There is a knock to the wood on the inside edge of the lid. General wear and tear commensurate with age and use. See photos for more details.
An oak cased long case clock, the eight day movement with square brass dial, the chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals enclosing a subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture inscribed "John Smith, Chester" CONDITION REPORTS There are numerous scratches and scuffs to the case, areas of loss to the veneer, some fading and discolouration in areas of the case, some splits to the wood at the base. Accretions, etc. The dial has light surface scratches, accretions, some tarnishing to the metal. The movement also has some tarnishing to the metal, dust, accretions, etc. Unable to state whether in full working order. General wear and tear commensurate with age and use. A box containing assorted plated wares to include candlestick, hot water jug, pistol grip knives, etc CONDITION REPORTS There are eight pistol grip knives. Blades have areas of rust and tarnishing. Surface scratches and scuffs to both blades and handles. Some minor dents and knocks to the handles and wear to the blades. The length of the pistol grip knives is approx 22 cm. There are also eight pistol grip forks approx 18.5 cm. Numerous light surface scratches, some minor small dents to the handles, tarnishing to the metal. Sven Berlin (1911-99) was a well-known figure in the art world; an artist, dancer, poet & author. Berlin caused considerable outrage with the original publication of this work, the number of libel cases brought against him as a result forced the book to be withdrawn, and very few copies survive today. The work comprises many thinly-veiled character assassinations on the artists, writers &c. from the period, focusing on St Ives, including Barbara Hepworth, Ben Nicholson, Patrick Heron and Peter Lanyon.
Atwood (Magaret) The Handmaid's Tale, first edition, signed by the author on title, original boards, dust-jacket, some light fading to spine light creasing to head and foot, excellent otherwise, 8vo, 1985.⁂ The first edition of Atwood's dystopian classic, the basis for the hugely successful television series. The sequel, published this year, has been shortlisted for the Booker Prize.

Grace thanks his correspondent for their kind invitation and informs him 'I believe arrangements have already been made for putting me up', continuing 'I am very anxious to know all about the late Australian trip, so would prefer staying with the other cricketers on this occasion'. Accompanied by the original envelope hand addressed by Grace. Some light age toning to the base of the first page, lightly affecting two lines of text, otherwise VG The England cricket team (also known as Alfred Shaw's XI) had toured Australia in 1884-85, playing eight first class matches, including five matches in the Test series, winning six and losing two.

Seifert asks his correspondents to kindly send Knizni novinky (book news) to the journal Ranni Noviny, explaining 'We do have rather a large column on culture and, if possible, we cover all the literature news of greater importance right after they have been published' and adding 'We would really like to inform our readers about the book of Fallada already. If you would be so kind to enclose with the editorial copy the facsimile of Wolker's poem as you have promised, we would very much appreciate it'.
