Gross, the figure moulded with a belt embellished with five opal style mounts, signed and with impressed marks, height 58cm.Additional InformationThe outer handle has been broken off and glued back, some rubbing to the gilding and decoration here and there with some scratching, etc, but overall appearance ok, some light wear around the base.
FULHAM POTTERY; three Art Pottery flower vases comprising two fan vases and a three tier bowl with wavy edge, height of largest 29.5cm (3).Additional InformationCrazing throughout, light scratches throughout. The two fan-shaped vases have scuffs, marks and dirt, staining, one with a firing crack/fault to one of the openings.
CLARICE CLIFF; a Newport Pottery tea for two set painted with floral sprays, printed marks.Additional InformationAll pieces are very dirty, the teapot lid has been cracked in several places and also has a chip to the finial, the base is stained to the interior and also with staining to the handle and crazing throughout, the jug is again stained, very dirty but otherwise ok, the bowl the same, the two cups ring true and again apart from dirty seem ok, the two saucers have some light crazing but otherwise ok.
HUGH CASSON FOR MIDWINTER; a 'Cannes' pattern sixty piece part dinner, tea and coffee service comprising six dinner plates, seven smaller plates, six dessert plates, eleven side plates, five cups and five saucers, four coffee cups and five saucers, two sugar bowls, two milk jugs, an oval plate, two tureens and covers, a coffee pot, a gravy boat and a four piece cruet.Additional InformationAll of the teacups with crazing to the glaze in the bottom of the cup. The tureen covers with some crazing to the glaze. Two of the coffee cup saucers with crazing to the glaze. Three of the teacup saucers with a chip to the rim and all with crazing. All of the large dinner plates with some light glaze scratches. The oval sandwich plate also with a few minor glaze scratches. Two of the smaller sized plates with some crazing to the glaze, all with a few minor glaze scratches. Two of the smaller dessert plates with slight glaze scratches. Three of the side plates with crazing. A further three with a chip to the rim.

London Gazette 8 March 1918: ‘In recognition of valuable services in connection with the War.’ James Ridgeway Dyas was born on 11 March 1862, the only son of Lieutenant-Colonel Joseph Dyas, Royal Engineers, and was educated at Wellington College and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the 67th Regiment of Foot on 22 January 1881, and served with the Regiment (later the 2nd Battalion, Hampshire Regiment) in India from 10 March 1881. He was promoted Lieutenant on 1 July 1881, and served in the Sudan campaign in 1885, and then with the Burmese Expedition in 1885-86 (Mentioned in Despatches) and again in 1887-89. Promoted Captain on 4 September 1889, he transferred to the Royal Warwickshire Regiment, and served in the campaign in the Sudan under Sir Herbert Kitchener with the 1st Battalion, and was present at the Battle of Khartoum. He was promoted Major on 1 April 1899, and saw further service in South Africa during the Boer War from February to June 1900. He was appointed Second in Command of the 2nd Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment, on 6 April 1902, and was promoted Lieutenant-Colonel on 22 December 1905. Promoted Brevet Colonel on 22 December 1908, he was placed on half pay on completion of his tenure of command of the battalion the following year. Dyas rejoined for the Great War on 21 September 1913, and was appointed to the command of the 11th Battalion, Cheshire Regiment. He transferred to the command of the 9th Battalion, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry on 6 August 1915, and then to the command of the 36th Training Reserve Battalion on 1 September 1916. He reverted to retired pay on 24 July 1919, and subsequently served as Librarian at the Staff College, Camberley. For his services during the Great War he was created a Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George, and received the British War Medal only. He died on 23 January 1933. Pair: Able Seaman F. J. Ellis, Royal Navy Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, no clasp (F. J. Ellis, A.B., H.M.S. Terpsichore.); Africa General Service 1902-56, 1 clasp, Jubaland (F. J. Ellis, A.B., H.M.S. Terpsichore.) mounted for display, light contact marks, otherwise very fine (2) £500-£700 --- 45 clasps for Jubaland issued to H.M.S. Terpsichore. Francis John Ellis was born at Hythe, Hampshire, on 13 April 1879, and joined the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class on 18 May 1894; Boy 1st Class, 25 April 1895; Ordinary Seaman, 13 April 1897; Able Seaman, 24 October 1899; Leading Seaman, 18 August 1904. He served aboard H.M.S. Terpsichore from 17 February 1901 until 25 April 1904, seeing service in South Africa and in Jubaland. He was invalided out with a tubercle of lung on 4 June 1908. Sold with copied record of service and medal roll entry for Jubaland clasp.
