This pick-up was registered in June 1992 and now shows 46,997 miles on its odometer, albeit not warranted. It is MoT'd until July 2023. The vendor acquired the vehicle in 2019 and ran it for around a year before taking it off the road to give it a 'light makeover', including new old stock pick-up back panels. He describes it as a 'good runner' with 'good body and interior'. The paperwork file includes the V5C, current MoT through to July 2023, owner's handbook and Haynes workshop manual. 1971 Rover P6 2200 TC Make: Contact AuctioneerModel: Rover Year: 1971Mileage: 58260VIN: 44102503AConfiguration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: ABW186KTransmission: ManualAlthough shown on its V5C as with a 2205cc engine model, and now wearing 2200 TC badges, this Mexico Brown Rover P6, with black leather interior, sunroof and boot-mounted spare wheel, started life as a 2000 SC, being registered in August 1971, over two years before the twin-carb 2200 model was launched by Rover. The chassis plate denotes a home market Series 2 car, but the engine number is that of a 2.2-litre unit. It's unknown when any conversion or restoration was carried out, as the vendor purchased the car in 2017 with no history (save for the dealer stating that it had recently had a new clutch, reconditioned starter motor, new gear stick bushes, ignition switch, rear brake calipers and reconditioned main bearings in the gearbox). However, a colour change was recorded in March 2016. The vendor covered approximately 3000 miles in three years with no serious issues, but has not used the car for the last two years and now feels it would benefit from some light recommissioning, including a new bonnet release cable as the current one is broken. However, the vendor believes that the car is 'generally in good condition for its age and a very useable classic'. The P6's odometer shows 58,260 miles, although this isn't warranted. The Rover's last MoT expired in October 2019, although as an historic vehicle, it no longer requires annual testing. The paperwork file contains the V5C, old MoT certificates from 2016 to 2018 and a copy of the purchase invoice from 2018. There's also a Rover 2200 owner's manual.

The vendor advises that the underside has never been welded and that the car has been wax-oyled and the door A&B posts have been protected. The extensive history file covers from 1997 to the present including details of works and parts used over the years, bills of sale including from 1997 when imported, a large quantity of receipts and MoTs from 1997 when the mileage was recorded at 33,000 to the present. The MoT certificates date from 2021 right the way back to 1996 and so, in combination with the service book, warrant the mileage. The vehicle also comes with a spare set of keys. The car gives the impression of an older restoration. It appears solid but there is some 'orange peel' in the paint in places as well as some minor bubbling here and there, along with some tarnishing to the brightwork and light pitting on the Mazak parts. The window bottom weatherstrips are missing on both doors. The interior is complete but shows wear in places, with some bits of loose trim apparent. A modern face-off stereo is fitted, as are competition-style harness belts. It is a useable and presentable example that would benefit from improvement - including extra securing in place of the GT hard-top roof. The paperwork folder runs to just the V5C, the current MoT certificate and a print-out of the online MoT history summary back to May 2006 when the mileage was recorded as 57,884 miles.

The vehicle is on a Q-plate as the DVLA will require proof of age to issue a period registration, but evidence is supplied with the paperwork. The vendor tells us that the vehicle was restored in Cornwall, although it isn't clear from the paperwork precisely when this was. Some work seems to have been carried out during 2018, with more following in 2022. This includes new brake components; there are receipts for work from these two years in the folder. The vendor tells us that the wheels and tyres are also new. The logos and lettering on the truck are hand-painted rather than transfers. Beyond the V5C and the various invoices, there is a dating letter from the Wisconsin Historical Society confirming the International was built in 1973.
