Note: Charles Reginald Aston R.I. (1832-1908) was the third son of Mr John Aston of Westfield, Edgbaston, and Rowington Hall, Worcestershire; his mother was a niece of Sir Thomas Lawrence. He studied architecture for three years in London, but at the end of that time abandoned it for landscape painting. He spent many years in sketching in Wales, Scotland, and Cornwall; but it was in Italy that his talent found its widest scope. For many years a member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists and of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water-Colours. He frequently exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1862 and 1878. *CR light occasional spotting.
