We have only been able to trace one other copy at auction (Sotheby`s 17th June 1999). The work is divided into 67 chapters and provides much information on the wines table manners banquets and feasts of earlier generations. In 1629 he was appointed Constable of Windsor and High Steward to the Queen. At this time he was high in her favour was her political adviser and leader of her party at court. During the Civil War he was appointed Captain General of the royal forces north of the Trent and was frequently used as an intermediary between the king queen and their enemies.
