A white metal ring set with a large hand-cut light-blue stone (possibly aquamarine/zircon), total weight approx. 6.78g CONDITION REPORT: There does not appear to be significant damage to the stone although looking at it under a jeweller's loop there appears to be some inclusions and very minor fritting and some small chips to the very edge of the extremity (widest part). The inclusions look like very small bubbles within the stone. We do not know what the white metal is as there are no hallmarks but under the jeweller's loop it look like the metal has sustained some scratches and dents. The blue stone is mounted horizontally and the width is approx. 15mm x height approx. 11mm x depth is difficult as the stone is hidden behind the pierced mount but a guess would be 8/9mm.
An early/mid 20th century demi-lune side cabinet profusely hand-gilded and lacquered with chinoiseries; the top with a gilded running guilloche and with two outset columns headed with rams' masks over harebells, central convex drawer above a conforming lower cupboard door, the whole gilded and decorated with figures, birds and buildings etc., raised on four short gilded tapering fluted legs terminating in ebonised and gilded spade feet, 128cm wide CONDITION REPORT: The piece appears in generally overall good original condition although looking at the top from an angle with a light the lacquer is lightly scratched in places and there are some indentations where items have been placed upon the top over the years. In our view this does not particularly detract from the look of the piece and although scratches, scuffs and one or two minor “holes” the size of a match head are visible the eye is not immediately drawn to them. Some rubbing of gilding is noticeable under scrutiny, mostly to extremities to include one of the ram's head noses, some running guilloche style gilded moulding around the top and naturally enough scuffing and paint away etc., to the tapering square block feet. The door does not appear to be warped although there is some scuffing to the left hand side of the vertical where the escutcheon is visible, presumable where the lock has not been retracted fully and has caused minor damage. In our view this could be rectified fairly easily. No breakages, splits, cracks or major problems are noted and the auctioneer asks that prospective bidders (of which there are a few) refer to the images published to include all angles with front, top, underside, interior and drawer close ups etc. The panels to the left and right of the central panel appear in very generally very good overall decorative order and it is a nice effect that the gilding has dulled down in most places. The Demi Lune commode has a black painted panelled back affixed with largish screws to the side verticals which have evidently been in place for a good period of years. Overall good general original condition commensurate with age. Dimensions: 126cm wide x 56.5cm deep x 94cm high. We can't see any plywood used in the piece.
A heavy 19th century style three-light floor-standing lamp standard, gilt and dark metal (possibly bronze) CONDITION REPORT: The main lamp appears to be in good general order, there is some staining/tarnishing to the circular brass base that the five feet six under. The metalwork looks generally in good condition with no fractures, splits, damage or restoration noted. The lamp is very heavy and appears in good general overall order. The pleat shade has been on there for a long time, is probably original and as such has some small holes in places. The gilded finial at the top holding on the shade appears to be in good order and original.
A fine 9-carat yellow gold case with hinged cover, unusual 'wavy' engine-turned decoration and the clasp with a firey cabouchon oval opal, 8.75cm high, approx. 79.7g CONDITION REPORT: The date letter looks like g We think this is 1962 and presuming that the assay office is London. There is no assay office mark on it. There are three cartouches, the first is 9, the second one is .375 and the third assay mark is the letter g. There are no splits. Being “super critical” in natural light you can see two very very minor indentations although at arms length these are hardly visible.
A 19th century French ormolu-mounted, ovoid two-handled porcelain urn (now as a lamp); egg- and-dart style moulding to the top rim above acanthus casting and two ornately scrolling handles, the main body decorated in enamels with female muses and a reverse vignette allegorical of music with a lyre, foliage etc., raised on square plinth style base with re-entrant style corners, the urn 38cm high (not including light fittings)
A very fine matched pair of Persian silk mixture carpets with a very high density of knots per square, the slightly larger with a black border, the other carpet (signed to the top) with a light green border, each central rectangular panel decorated with a tree of life style design and with birds, a hare, a deer etc., together with a profusion of different coloured flowers etc., the slightly larger carpet approx. 214cm x 136cm CONDITION REPORT: These have come privately and were with them for many years, they have been hung on the wall. There are no real issues and appear to be in good original condition with no tears, repairs, stains or any other problems noted. They were purchased originally in Persia by the present vendors and only ever hung on the walls. These are in good and genuine original condition.
A large 19th Century gilt framed overmantle the top section with scrolling foliage above two terminals with 'C' scrolls and further fan shaped foliate, 160cm (widest) x 88cm (highest) CONDITION REPORT: This looks as if it has been repainted at some stage although the back of the piece looks fairly dark and original and the two end verticals at the back exhibit quite a few holes where over the years brackets have been put on it to hang. The glass plate itself is in reasonable condition although with small “specks” of distressing can be seen including a thumbnail sized piece about 8/10cm down from the middle of the top part of the frame. Commensurate with age are chips and scratches where the gilt has been knocked off and the white gesso is showing underneath. There are no “major” problems to the piece although the top right hand scrolling foliate acanthus style decoration is below what looks like a crack to the wood and gilt gesso. There is an approx. 2/3cm horizontal crack just above this acanthus decoration as evident on the frame and further around the top left hand area to this there is an approx. 3/4cm slim section of gilding away with the white gesso and wood showing beneath. In our opinion these “faults” could be rectified fairly easily. There are other minor places of gilding away with the gesso wood showing below but again in our opinion these would easily disappear with a light “touch up” of gilding/paint.

Boxing Doug Jones 10x8 signed colour photo pictured during his fight with Cassius Clay in 1963. Doug Pugilism Jones started off his career successfully with 18 consecutive wins against mostly lightly regarded opponents, until his first loss occurred at the hands of Eddie Machen. He lost his next two fights, and the third a draw. Jones fought for the world light-heavyweight championship against Harold Johnson but lost a 15-round decision. He then moved up to the heavyweight division. Jones won his next two fights against Bob Foster, who was in his ninth professional fight and Zora Folley. Jones also split two fights with Billy Daniels. His best known fight was against a young Cassius Clay in March 1963, when he lost a ten-round decision in front of a sold-out crowd in Madison Square Garden. Many thought Jones deserved the decision, which was loudly booed by the Garden Crowd. Of 25 boxing writers at the Garden that night, 13 scored it for Jones, 10 favoured Clay, and two called it even.
