Bordering diamonds have slightly variable colour and clarity, some stones with chips/surface-reaching fractures, but give a lively appearance, estimated SI1 to P2 clarity and H to K colour, assessed mounted. The setting has been knocked slightly to one side and has surface wear throughout, with patchy rubbing to the claws. Diameter of setting approx. 1.2cm. Metal standard is untested. A VICTORIAN CITRINE PANEL BROOCH, the oval mixed-cut citrine in pinched collet setting, to a tiered openwork panel of foliate scrolls and beads, suspending plaited-link swags and two engraved amphora drops below, with later fitting, length 9.5cm Condition report: One bead missing to mount on right side of citrine. Mount and drops of hollow construction, with splits, holes and dents throughout, and areas of solder repair. Frame has been reinforced with solder repair at various points. Fittings are later replaced and functioning, pin is base metal. Some of the jump rings connecting to the swags appear to be replaced and gilt metal. Light surface wear, chips and scuffs to citrine, which measures approx. 26mm length x 20mm width. Metal standard of mount unknown. Gross weight approx. 20gm.

A DIAMOND AND GEM SET BAR BROOCH, designed as a line of circular mixed-cut brown zircons and yellow gemstones in millegrain collet settings, within a pierced and millegrain border of single and brilliant-cut diamonds, two colour precious metal mounted, cased by The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company Ltd, total diamond weight approximately 0.45ct, length 6.5cm Condition report: Zircons are well matched but have a hazy appearance and facet edge abrasion. The yellow stones are untested, have a fairly lively appearance and have light surface wear. Diamonds are mostly well matched with a fairly bright and lively appearance, some stones with surface-reaching fractures and nicks/chips, estimated VS2 to P2 clarity and H to J colour, assessed mounted. The mount has surface wear, nicks and scuffs. Each end of the panel has evidence of a previous fitting that has been later removed. The pin and safety catch are functioning but may be later added. Solder joins are visible at junctions within the mount and the edges of the settings have patchy wear. Metal standard is untested. Gross weight approx. 9.8gm. Heavy wear to the case.

AN AMETHYST, PEARL AND DIAMOND BROOCH, centred with a cushion-shaped amethyst in millegrain collet setting, to a tapered bar of old and lasque-cut diamonds, terminating with trios of pearls, two colour precious metal mounted, cased, (pearls untested for origin, later clasp), length 4.2cm Condition report: The amethyst has a mid-purple hue with whiteish colour zoning and contains fracture inclusions, has light surface wear, and measures approx. 10.2mmm length x 10mm width x 6.9mm depth. Diamonds are a little greyish and contain some surface-reaching fractures. Pearls have a baroque outline, with obvious blemishes and pitting to the surface, and one pearl is missing a rivet. The bar has solder joins to both ends and the mount has surface wear, scuffs and chips throughout. The pin is functioning and the safety catch is replaced. Metal standard is untested. Gross weight approx. 4.1gm. The case is heavily worn.

Chips, nicks, scuffs and scratches to all enamel panels. General surface wear, scuffs and nicks/chips throughout the mount, carved decoration is fairly crisply defined, the edges of the setting and shank have worn in places. There is a small seam/split to one side of the setting and areas of porosity to the mount interior. The inscription has light wear. Half pearls have fractures, scuffs and pitting to the surface, commensurate for use, and have discoloured to slightly varied greyish-white hues. Metal standard is untested. The smallest diamond weight is approximately 0.07ct. Synthetic sapphires have slightly variable blue hues, some stones with curved colour zoning visible to the eye, all with light surface abrasion. The bracelet fully articulates and has surface wear throughout, but some of the connecting rivets have been solder repaired, with dark solder to the sides of affected links. Engraved decoration is crisply defined. One diamond appears to have been glued back in position, with glue residue to the back of the setting. Bracelet width tapers from approx. 10mm to 8.5mm. Rivets to the links are base metal. Coral links vary in colour from light to mid hues and all have chips, nicks, scuffs, fractures and pitting. The bracelet has general surface wear and dirt traces throughout and is untested as gold/gilt metal. The clasp is functioning. A RUBY AND DIAMOND THREE STONE RING, the oval mixed-cut ruby claw set between two round brilliant-cut diamonds, two colour precious metal mounted, total diamond weight approximately 0.30ct, ring size I Condition report: The ruby has a deep purplish-red hue with fissures/fractures and needle-like inclusions visible under magnification, light surface wear and facet edge nicks/chips, with a larger chip to one end of the stone. The ruby measures approx. 6.2mm length x 4.7mm width 2.6mm depth. Diamonds are bright and lively, with estimated I to J colour and SI1 to SI3 clarity, assessed mounted. The mount has surface wear and patchy rubbing to the sides of the claw setting. Metal standard is untested. Gross weight approx. 2.5gm.

AN 18CT GOLD MOUNTED DISH BY COLLINGWOOD & CO., of circular form with reeded border, inset to the centre with an oval metal plaque, depicting Odysseus, the Greek king of Ithaca, killing Eurymachus, an Ithacan nobleman, from Homer's Odyssey, the dish hallmarked for London 1967, in maker's case, diameter 12cm By repute, this dish was commissioned by John Louis Marden (1919 - 1999) from Collingwood & Co. as a gift to the vendor's father. After graduating from Cambridge in Economics and Law, Marden moved to Hong Kong in 1947, joining his father's trading company, Wheelock Marden & Co. Ltd., which specialised in shipping, lighterage and storage. In 1959, Marden succeeded his father as chairman of the firm, and later sat on the boards of the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC), the Cross-Harbour Tunnel and the Hongkong Electric Company (HK Electric), amongst others. This dish was designed to incorporate a plaque that was cast from a hardstone intaglio in Marden's possession. Condition report: Light surface wear throughout dish, scuffs to base, patchy tarnishing. Light wear to case. Approx. gross weight: 213.5gm (weight of metal plaque to centre unknown).

Diamonds are well matched and fairly bright, some stones with small chips/surface-reaching fractures. The brooch mount has light surface wear and the clasp is functioning. Metal standard is untested. A SAPPHIRE SET TIE PIN, the quatrefoil-shaped panel centred with an oval mixed-cut sapphire in claw setting, bordered by four smaller circular mixed-cut sapphires, yellow precious metal mounted, stamped '750', length 1.6cm Condition report: The sapphires have mid to dark blue hues. The largest sapphire contains straight colour zoning that is visible under magnification and measures approx. 4.9mm length x 4mm width. Some of the outer stones have faint whiteish colour zoning. All sapphires have light surface wear, scuffs, small chips and nicks that are not obvious to the naked eye. The mount has surface wear, scuffs and nicks, with heavier scratches to the post fitting. Metal standard is untested. Gross weight approx. 1.8gm.

A SYNTHETIC SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND CLUSTER RING, the octagonal mixed-cut synthetic sapphire collet set within a border of single-cut diamonds, between fleur-de-lys shoulders, white precious metal mounted, total diamond weight approximately 0.30ct, ring size P Condition report: Synthetic sapphire of purplish-blue hue, with light surface wear. Diamonds have variable colour and clarity but give an overall lively appearance, some stones with chips or surface-reaching fractures, estimated H to L colour and VS2 to P2 clarity, assessed mounted. The ring mount has general surface wear, patchy thinning to the edges of the setting, filing marks to the back of the shank, and has been re-sized. Panel measures approx. 1.8cm x 1.55cm. A SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND THREE STONE RING, the oval mixed-cut sapphire claw set between two round brilliant-cut diamonds, 18ct two colour gold mounted, total diamond weight approximately 0.15ct, ring size M½ Condition report: Sapphire of dark inky-blue hue with faint colour zoning, light surface wear and scuffs. Diamonds are fairly bright and lively, but one stone is chipped to the girdle and has a surface-reaching fracture. Estimated SI2 to P2 clarity and I to J colour, assessed mounted. One of the claws needs re-tipping and the mount has general wear throughout, with heavier wear and patchy tarnishing to the sides of the setting. Gross weight approx. 3.2gm.
