This copy has come directly from the BBC archive centre. The record (Blue Horizon 2931-001) is in glossy VG+ condition showing some light poly bag residue to the playing surfaces though no with few surface or other marks. With BBC library stamps to both labels and with the working title Tasting The Life crossed out with A Jug Of Love handwritten to the side 1 label. No insert. The sleeve is in VG condition; it has been placed in a protective PVC plastic wallet which has been attached to the sleeve, 4 library stickers are on top of the plastic sleeve with 2 library stickers underneath. Elsewhere the sleeve is in clean order with no rips, tears or splits.

MUSIC BOX - FUN PALACE LP (ORIGINAL SELF RELEASED COPY - FP 101). A real pleasure to be able to offer one of our favourite Underground Acid Folk rarities with the original self released copy of the 1969 LP from the then Bristol Uni students Music Box. The record (with fingerprints which are signed by the band members on white labels and humorously stamped '14 May 1964' to side 1) is in solid VG condition. Displaying some surface marks/scuffs to the playing surfaces and a couple of light feelable scratches, the record plays very well throughout with some surface noise in some of the quieter passages. Without any skips or jumps. Matrix (machine stamped): FP + 101+ A1 & FP+101 + A2 (crossed out with B2 etched). Fragile by its rudimentary stapled design, the handmade sleeve is in VG condition. With some creasing and wear to the corners, there are no rips or tears. Some of the staples have come detached though several remain and there is strong integrity to the sleeve which can still be described as intact.

This UK-supplied, right-hand drive Quattro WR has remained on a family farm for 39 years and is on offer at No Reserve. This 2,144cc in-line, five-cylinder, 10-valve Audi Quattro WR was purchased brand new in 1984 by a local farmer from Testwood Motors of Southampton. It was finished in Zermatt Silver with a Brazil cloth interior and was fitted from new with a sunroof and a Blaupunkt Atlanta radio/cassette. In 1995 (the final Tax Disc expired on 30th November 1995), he passed it down to his son at 139,000 miles but he chose never to drive it, storing it in a corner of a barn until recently. Very rare Christopher Neil Cabriolet conversion of Lotus' four-seat Elan, on offer at No Reserve. Whilst current market values often don't show it, the Elan Plus 2 was a pivotal car for Lotus when it launched in 1967. Its Ron Hickman lines and shared name may have pinned it with the petite breakthrough Elan of five years prior, but the Plus 2 was much more than a mere variant of the first mass market Lotus. It was the marque's first real concerted push towards the upmarket sports car sector it inhabits today. Where its junior sibling was aimed squarely at the enthusiastic hobbyist, the Plus 2 was conceived to tempt the affluent young family man out of his Jaguar and into a Lotus for the first time. Consequently, the Lotus was generously adorned with Walnut veneers, leather, gauges, switches and the airy interior required by arriving young executives and their families. In confirmation of this, the Plus 2 was the first Lotus not available in self-assembly form.However, despite its larger overall dimensions, the Plus 2 remained true to the Lotus 'simplify and add lightness' mantra, and the extended and widened Elan backbone chassis ensured that the Plus 2 retained the urgency and reactiveness that had proved such a hit with the original. This was something special - a light, sporty concept that was brand new to this sector of the market, and so much more than an enlarged Elan.We imagine that the management at Lotus must have discussed, at some point, the possibility of chopping the top off the Elan Plus 2, but it never happened, leaving the field wide open for enterprising Lotus dealer and marque expert, Christopher Neil, to do just that with his CN Cabriolets a few years later.First registered in 1969, XWW 50G started life as a Lotus Yellow Plus 2 Coupé before being converted to an open-top car using a Christopher Neil conversion kit. Around the year 2000, it was in need of a restoration and this was duly carried out. The work included a new chassis, sills, a full engine rebuild, new brakes, a wiring loom and finally it was refinished in a very attractive shade of Indigo Blue. Since being owned by our vendor, an ex-Formula 1 mechanic, it has been further improved by fitting new suspension from Tony Thompson Racing in 2021 with the invoice in the history file for £2,871, Sue Miller driveshafts, an aluminium fuel tank and aluminium radiator, and a new mohair roof and tonneau from Autotrim for £1,440. It's supplied with an original Christopher Neil Conversions sales brochure, multiple receipts, MOTs etc. and its V5C.Presented to a good standard, this is a rare car and you are unlikely to see another on the road. Fully rebuilt with a new chassis and extensively upgraded, this Series IIA is really rather special. Dating from April 1966, George is a Series IIA that has been fully restored and upgraded in current ownership since 2014. The 'story of George' runs to several thousand words, far too much to even paraphrase here, but our consignor, Stacey will be happy to send interested parties a copy of this charming story by email.A small extract in our vendor’s words;'I needed something that would keep me more active than normal, so my wife gave me the green light to find a classic Land Rover, but she had one condition that it must have the headlights in the centre panel. For me, I added that I wanted a petrol engine and SWB and that was it, so other than these requirements I really didn’t have a clue what to look for. So the search began, mainly looking around Ebay, I did see a couple of vehicles around my budget and then I spotted George, he was taxed and MOT’d for six months which meant I could run him and get an idea of what needed doing.A few days later, I made the train journey down to Evesham to collect George with the intention of driving back to Stoke, and made sure I had sufficient tools to cover any basic repairs should any issues come up during the drive back. When I arrived, George was standing on the drive in all his glory, he’d already been fitted with parabolic springs and Koni shocks some time back by a previous owner, the door tops were pretty much shot but usable for now, they would need replacing along with the rear tail gate and cat flap which had been joined together to make a type of safari door – not nice for sure.The sale was agreed and the journey home commenced. George was running a Weber Carburettor which was being a little temperamental on the journey home, but after a few tweaks it calmed down and the rest of the trip was relatively pain free – well as best you can expect from a Land Rover. Once home I had time to make a full assessment of what I needed to replaced right away to use up the remaining six months of Tax and MOT, during this time I could plan my re-build, it was always my intention to replace the chassis and I think after the strip down I was justified in that decision.'The rest of the story is hugely detailed and fascinating. An exceptional, low-mileage, low-ownership example of Suzuki's, now rare, SJ413 - offered at No Reserve. The Suzuki Jimny, a small, simple and robust 4x4 car, became the Japanese car maker’s first global success. In 1970, the first version was introduced as the LJ ('Light Jeep') 10. With its length of less than 3.2 metres, it belonged into the tax-privileged 'Kei car' (smallest vehicle) category. Its successor LJ 20 introduced the famous vertical grille bars and a stronger engine. In 1975 the SJ series ('Suzuki Jeep') was launched, which eventually replaced the LJ, even though both models were offered simultaneously. Power upgrades followed, additional markets were won over. In Germany, the LJ was presented in 1979 and the SJ 410 available as of 1982.As it was cheap to buy and run, it quickly gained a significant market share, with Suzuki becoming market leader for 4x4 cars throughout the 1980s. Particularly popular became the SJ 413 (four-wheel drive, 1.3-litre engine), later called 'Samurai' which featured a larger 1.3-litre four-cylinder engine, 5-speed manual transmission and power brakes (disc brakes on the front and drum brakes on the rear) all around. The body and interior were also redesigned, with the introduction of a roll bar, along with a new dashboard, seats, and grille. This smart example was originally supplied by Suzuki at Highfield in January 1991 - the original Sales Invoice remains with the car. The previous owner purchased the car in 2020 and used it regularly for local journeys, storing it under cover during Lockdown and in the winter. Now over 30 years old, the car is a remarkable survivor and remains in excellent condition, a testament to its three owners.The service book documents the first main dealer service in 1991 and then 11 hand-written entries from 2002 until 2015, detailing service and maintenance work. A quantity of further maintenance records and parts invoices show just how well the little Suzuki has been looked after. Only 2,500 miles since a substantial restoration, this elegant 120 Coupé remains in fabulous condition. A car-starved Britain, still trundling around in perpendicular pre-war hangover vehicles, glimpsed the future in October 1948 with the launch of the Jaguar XK120 at the Earls Court Motor Show. Production commenced in 1949 in Coventry, and the XK's swoopy shape and stylish occupants would become a common sight on British roads over the next 15 years. It heralded the arrival of Jaguar's famous 3.4-litre twin overhead camshaft XK engine, (the basis of all their engines for the next 25 years) with an alloy cylinder head and twin side-draught SU carburettors producing nearly 160bhp. The 120 referred to the car's top speed which, at the time, made it the fastest production car in the world. Jaguar seems to have always had a flair for marketing and to illustrate that the car's top speed was not a figment of a publicist's imagination as in May 1949, on the Jabbeke to Aeltre autoroute, an XK120 with its hood and side screens in place recorded a speed of 126mph, and no less than 132mph with the hood and windscreen detached and an undertray fitted. The car was in almost instant demand and went on to spawn the famous XK lineage of fast and elegant sports cars.This splendid XK120 was delivered new to Hoffman, New York on 4th September 1951. It turned heads in the US for many years before returning to the UK in July 2004 looking very tired and in need of restoration. Renowned Jaguar restorers, Beacon Garage in Doncaster, inherited that particular task and a comprehensive last nut and bolt rebuild was completed in 2012. The car was converted to right-hand drive, fitted with a C-Type cylinder head, upgraded leather bucket seats and chrome wire wheels - there are receipts on file totalling £80,000 from this period and viewing of the extensive file is highly recommend. Inspected by the Jaguar Drivers Club at the time who confirmed it was faultless, other than some light pitting of the chrome on one rear light. They valued it at £125,000 at that time.XDN 36 was purchased by our vendor, a serious motoring connoisseur, in December 2018 and, in his care, the XK has been well-maintained and lightly but regularly used. It's been enjoyed on various Bowcliffe Drivers Club events and placed second in one of their Concours d'Elegance events. It has covered less than 2,500 miles since the restoration with the only major expense being a set of new Pirelli Cinturatos. Superbly restored, a very well-presented example of one of Chapman’s earliest designs. The Elite Type 14 was Colin Chapman’s first production sports car that he designed for Lotus Cars, debuting in 1957. Lotus' design philosophy ran contrary to the prevailing norm, making their cars lighter, more aerodynamic and therefore more nimble, rather than increasing horsepower and weight enabling Lotus cars to outmanoeuvre much more powerful vehicles on track. It was very light, weighing just 630kg utilising a monocoque construction which meant there was no separate chassis, the body was load-bearing, and whilst this was becoming accepted practice, the Elite was the first time it had been constructed in glass-fibre. There were only two strips of steel in the car — a strip for the door hinges to attach to and a very small steel frame to which the engine and suspension were attached. When combined with independent sporty suspension, a ZF gearbox, disc brakes, a Coventry Climax all-aluminium engine and a very low drag coefficient of just 0.29, it made for a great drivers car, so much so that by production end in 1963 over 1,000 had been produced. The Elite was very expensive to produce - especially the GRP monocoque which was extremely labour-intensive (the first 280 were built by Maximar then production switched to Bristol Aircraft who built a further 760+ cars). It is estimated that Colin Chapman lost c.£100 on each Elite, so there was a backwards switch to a separate steel backbone chassis for the successor Elan, making it much cheaper to build.Offered here is very special Elite SE, presented in the wonderful period-correct Primrose Yellow with a silver metallic roof, matching Jim Clark’s road car. It's the higher performance, 85bhp factory variant (SE) which initially came fitted with twin SU carburettors, a fabricated exhaust system, the ZF Gearbox and Lucas PL700 headlamps.Purchased new in 1962 by Viscount Gough, it was subject to a complete 'last nut and bolt' restoration by the previous owner, who was meticulous in his attention to detail. In 2005, the bodywork was stripped back to the gel coat, all traces of repairs, stress cracks, and damage were removed and repaired using glass fibre only. The entire car was then re-spayed by Proline Paint, GRP specialists, costing in excess of £8,000, and all the lights were replaced with new-old-stock Lucas items. The interior is finished in black with grey carpet, the seats having been re-trimmed by a local ex-Aston Martin trimmer in black leather and the correct Irvin black seat belts were retained as was the original instrumentation, wood-rim steering wheel and its original Snail Brand tool kit and jack.Mechanically, the engine has been fully re-built up to FWB specification with a capacity of 1,460cc, using new components supplied by the premier Coventry Climax Engines specialist. These include a new-old-stock Coventry Climax crankshaft; Carrillo con-rods; new pistons; alloy five-bearing cam carrier; high-lift camshaft; new water and oil pumps; high-torque starter motor; re-cored radiator; thermostatically controlled Kenlowe electric cooling fan; new cast inlet manifold; and refurbished Weber DCOE 18 carburettors. In addition, the cylinder head has been fully ported, gas-flowed and rebuilt with larger inlet and exhaust valves. Having been fully balanced, it's not subject to the usual vibrations and shudders of an Elite. The engine will now safely rev to 7,000rpm plus, and should develop 120-125bhp.Standard fitment was a 4-speed MG gearbox with the highly sought after ZF all-synchro box offered, as an option on S2 models, but was part of the SE package. One of the drawbacks of the MG transmission was that it was low geared (standard rear axle ratio of 4.22:1 plus a direct fourth gear) meaning that the engine ran at quite high revs when cruising. This led to the development of a 5-speed Type-9 conversion – greatly improving driveability with its 'overdrive' fifth gear. This is all achieved without any modifications to the monocoque - so is completely reversible and vastly improves the driving experience. '905 FWB' is fitted with a Type 9 5-speed gearbox complete with a new clutch cover and drive plate. New bearings and universal joints were fitted throughout, and the 4.22:1 differential fully rebuilt, while the new 60-spoke wire wheels were fitted with period-correct Pirelli Cinturato tyres.In 2014, the suspension was replaced in its entirety by Tolman Motorsport. The original rear wishbones utilised a 'rubber ball' type location at the inboard end which can wear prematurely leading to instability caused by unwanted changes in toe angle. This Elite had the rear wishbones converted to rose joints in place of the 'ball & socket' arrangement, along with the Tolman Motorsport adjustable suspension set-up.Despite being MOT exempt, our vendor put the car through a voluntary MOT which it passed with no advisories, valid until 8th October 2024.Built in very small numbers (circa 1,040), and presenting in fabulous condition, this very well-sorted Elite is a delightful example. One of only 500 UK-supplied right-hand drive examples, this Taiga Green CSL boasts low-ownership and an impressive history file. The 3.0 CSL is a lightweight, performance-oriented version of the standard 3.0 CS/3.0 CSi coupé. Utilising the E9 platform, the 3.0 CSL was unveiled at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show and was introduced in May 1972 as an homologation model for the German Touring Car Championship developed by a separate division within BMW AG, a division that would later become BMW Motorsport GmbH.The CSL achieved some great results, with wins at Le Mans in the touring car class in 1973 and 1974, the IMSA GT Championship in 1975, and winning the European Touring Car Championships every year from 1973 to 1979 (apart from a minor blip in 1974).The 'L' in the designation meant leicht (light), unlike in other BMW designations, where it meant lang (long).A total of 1,096 CSLs were built, with just 500 of these being imported into the UK. The great majority of UK cars had the 'City Package' option fitted, designed to make the 3.0 CSL more usable as a daily driver. These versions retained the standard interior trim, negating the total weight saving somewhat, but the other benefits were retained, including aero kit, thinner gauge steel and aluminium parts. Early CSLs, produced in late 1971 and early 1972, utilised the standard 2,985cc M30 inline-six engine with twin carburettors and were only offered in left-hand drive. They were replaced by a fuel-injected model displacing 3,003cc available in right-hand drive during late 1972 and early 1973. Fuel-injected CSLs with the 3-litre motor have VINs that run from 2275001 through 2275429 (left-hand drive version) and 2285-001 through 2285-500 (right-hand drive UK cars).The fabulous CSL on offer here, finished in Taiga Green with a black interior, is #2285-469, indicating that it was built right at the end of the UK-allocated cars. Much of the early servicing was carried out by BMW dealer, Fairfield Garage of Leigh on Sea, at the instruction of of Mr. Hudson of the Facet Group. Multiple invoices show he used the CSL up to a mileage of 47,000. It then resided in Hertfordshire for nearly 21 years with its new lady owner, who obviously used it lightly as she covered less than 12,000 miles during that period. There is a record of some renovation work taking place in the mid-1980s prior to it being sold in 2003 at a mileage of 61,900, corroborated by past MOTs. In 2005, it was purchased by our vendor who has used and maintained it, with a full account of his expenditure on repairs and maintenance fastidiously kept in the comprehensive history file. The majority of the servicing from 2006 was conducted by our vendor's hometown garage, J.J. Griffiths of Lllandrindod Wells, with any bodywork attention by King of Cool Classic Cars and the front seats were retrimmed by West Country Trimmers in 2017. More hyped than any production car we can remember and currently unavailable in the UK, this Platinum White Circuit Pack car has covered just over 3,500 miles. When Toyota decided that they wanted their many years of success in International Rallying to continue, the initial problem was selecting a model that was going to be competitive in coming years. The regulations that govern WRC rallying dictate that your car has to be based on an existing road car, a process known as ‘homologation’, and although your rally car can deviate from the road formula in many areas, in most key ones it can’t. In the past, manufacturers were able to get around this because the regs didn’t insist on too many road-going versions, maybe 2,000 or even less, however that figure is now 25,000. Few manufacturers would even countenance building 25,000 seriously focussed rally cars and hope to find homes for them, but Toyota, always up for a challenge, did just that. Based on their successful little Yaris, and developed alongside their Gazoo Racing World Rally Team, the GR Yaris made its debut in late 2020.This technological miracle may look like a Yaris but the similarities are few and far between. The roof is carbon fibre saving 3.5kg, the door skins, bonnet and tailgate are aluminium, removing another 24kg and the front half of the chassis is Yaris but the rear is adapted from the Corolla and CH-R. It has the Yaris’ 2,560mm wheelbase, its light clusters, door mirrors and roof fin but that’s about it. Under the bonnet is the world’s most powerful production three-cylinder engine, a 1.6-litre with 257bhp and 266lb/ft. It features a unique block, bespoke pistons and a single-scroll, ball-bearing turbo to reduce weight with the engine itself being hydraulically mounted on one side to reduce vibration and unwanted movement. All cars were fitted with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a remarkably light, four-wheel drive system with an aluminium central transfer case and Sport and Track Modes. At the rear, there’s an electronically-controlled clutch pack to divide torque between the wheels.When new, the GR Yaris was available with a Convenience Pack or, as here, the Circuit Pack (£3,500) designed for drivers who want the ultimate in handling response and precision. One of only 80 right-hand drive examples of these contemporary classic Jaguars with just 488 miles from new. In 2012, nearly 40 years after the E-Type's demise, Jaguar finally got around to announcing the long-awaited and much-rumoured F-Type, which would turn out to be a more worthy spiritual successor to its illustrious forbearer than either the preceding XK8 or, before that, the XJS. A front-engined, rear-wheel-drive two-seater, the F-Type is built on an aluminium chassis, cleverly configured to minimise the transmission of noise and vibration to the passenger compartment, while its suspension is the supercar-standard arrangement of double wishbones all round, with adaptive dampers and adjustable settings. Multiple driving modes cater for different road conditions and driving styles.Unlike the E-Type, the F-Type was available with a wide variety of different power plants, ranging from a turbocharged 2-litre four via a 3-litre turbo V6 to a supercharged 5.0-litre V8. A ZF 8-speed paddle-shift semi-automatic transmission was standard on all models at first, with a 6-speed manual available later on the V6. The F-Type debuted at the Paris Motor Sow in September 2012 in convertible form, with the fixed-head coupé following in 2014. Nowadays it is de rigeur for car stylists to reference past models in their latest creations, and to some observers, the coupé's rear recalled that of one of the rarest of E-Types: the low-drag factory racer.To cater for the sports car market's seemingly insatiable appetite for limited edition models, Jaguar launched the 400 Sport – produced for just one year – and Project 7, which would be built in a run of only 250 cars. Project 7 had first seen the light of day as a single-seater concept car shown at Goodwood, and so favourable was the reception that it was decided to press ahead with making a more practical two-seater production version. They soon sold out, with 80 assigned to customers in the UK. The 'Project 7' designation referenced Jaguar's seven Le Mans wins, while the 'Aero Haunch' behind the driver's head was an obvious nod towards the D-Type sports-racer responsible for three of those victories.An aggressive-looking shallow-screen 'barchetta', Project 7 has all-aluminium bodywork and is powered by the 5-litre supercharged V8, up-rated to produce 567bhp, 25bhp more than in the F-Type R. Coupled with a 45kg weight reduction, this makes Project 7 the fastest accelerating F-Type yet, with a 0-60mph (0-97km/h) time of 3.8 seconds. Like many of the current crop of supercars, Project 7 is electronically limited to a top speed of 186mph (300kph). With the exhaust butterflies open (there's a special console switch), the car emits a superb growl-bark that turns into a magnificent crackle on the overrun. It's the one thing that makes you want to slow down.The 'top-end running gear' includes the 8-speed paddle-shift auto 'box; electronic differential; carbon ceramic brakes; specially tuned suspension; and unique settings for engine management and chassis stability control. SVO engineers also rebalanced and improved the car's rear-biased aerodynamic downforce by fitting side skirts and a large front splitter, while slightly reducing the effectiveness (and drag) of the boot lid wing. The result of Project 7's unique set of characteristics is a track-focused car capable of satisfying even the quickest of drivers.Supplied new by Stratstone of Mayfair, the fabulous Project 7 on offer here was first registered on 1st March 2016 as PRO7 JUR and is finished in the rather striking, special order hue of Metallic Goodwood Blue with a triple white stripe across the nose. Fabulous second-generation Interceptor with recent improvements and an outstanding, comprehensive restoration. Jensen's C-V8 replacement debuted in 1966, reviving a name first employed in the 1950s. However, several of the firm's traditions were broken in that the design was outsourced to Carrozzeria Touring and the bodies made of steel rather than glass fibre. Early shells were built by Vignale in Italy prior to production being established at Jensen's Kelvin Way plant in West Bromwich. Power came from a 6,276cc (383ci) Chrysler V8, driving through either a 4-speed manual or 3-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission, mated to an LSD Salisbury rear axle. Specification included electric windows, reclining seats, wood-rim steering wheel, radio with twin speakers, electric clock and reversing lights.Production of the Interceptor II (occasionally called the MkII or Series II) commenced in October 1969 and lasted for two years. This particular car has a chassis prefix, #123, so was one of 694 right-hand drive UK cars powered by the E-Series 383ci V8 generating around 330bhp. Pleasingly, it still wears its original registration number, HMK 6K, and from the history file we can see that it left the factory on 9th August 1971, finished in Silver Grey over black leather and optioned from new with Sundym Glass, Voxon Radio Cartridge Player, air-con, and Town & Country horns.The rebuild of this exquisite Jensen, undertaken by Kestrel Classic Cars of Redditch, Jensen marque specialists, commenced in 2013 but unfortunately stalled in late 2014 due to the owner's ill health, with the Interceptor not seeing light of day for the next seven years until the time was right to finish the build. Superbly presented in Stratosphere Blue with a full black hide interior, the ground-up rebuild shows excellent attention to detail throughout, setting this particular Interceptor II at a level that few achieve. The detailed restoration has left no stone unturned, including a complete, bare-metal body refurbishment, an engine, gearbox and drivetrain rebuild by American V8 Specialist David Gilliver, a total rewire, re-chroming by Derby Plating, a full retrim - in hide of course, all finished to the very highest of levels. The car has been sensibly upgraded for modern day usage including uprated cooling, a high-torque starter, an alternator and a modern air conditioning system.Previously purchased from us at Supercar Fest in 2022, the car has been further improved with the fitting of electronic ignition, electronic fuel pump, new alloy radiator and air conditioning condenser, as well as a rolling-road carb set-up to ensure the car runs and operates as well as it looks.Having been undervalued for many years, the Interceptor has recently seen somewhat of a resurgence with interest and demand for correctly restored examples increasing at a pace. One of only two Vanden Plas Allweather Tourers built as a special-order for His Highness the Jam Sahib of Nawanagar, an important 'Maharaja' car. Lanchester displayed an impressive array of cars at the Olympia Motor Show in October 1930. However, just weeks later, financial troubles culminated in the company's bank calling in its overdraft of £38,000 forcing immediate liquidation of the company's assets. A buyer was sought by the bank and, given the company's proximity to BSA's Armourer Mills in Sparkbrook, a sale to BSA seemed a perfect fit. The acquisition was completed in January 1931 for just £26,000, significantly lower than the value of the firms assets. However, despite promises to the contrary, BSA aggressively asset-stripped the Lanchester factory and moved production to Sandy Lane in Coventry, the home of Daimler.George Lanchester's services were retained as a Senior Designer, with Frank becoming the Sales Director and the reborn company's first new model, the Lanchester Eighteen, was designed by George but, in reality, was a version of the Daimler Light Twenty, as was to be the case with the following models.Lanchesters customers were particularly loyal and werent impressed with, what we would now call, 'badge engineering'. One fiercely loyal customer was His Highness the Maharajah Ranjitsinhji, the Jam Sahib of Nawanagar (known to his friends as Ranji). Ranji fell in love with the Lanchester marque when he went to play cricket in India in the early 1900s, during the days of the British Raj. He befriended Lanchester brothers Frederick and George, who were the first to manufacture an all-British car in 1896, and shared their enthusiasm for this new form of transport. He bought his first Lanchester, a 9kW two-cylinder model, in 1904 and after that, whenever a new model was introduced, at least one was shipped to India to add to his collection.We have no record of Ranji's expanding fleet of Lanchesters (no doubt there will be one somewhere) apart from #3462, a 1936 Daimler V-type chassis bodied by Vanden Plas and 'dressed' as a Lanchester which was gifted to Ranji's great nephew, Maharaja Durgapratapsinh, as an 18th birthday present in 1964 and which came up for auction in New Zealand in 2010.The arrival of World War II changed everything, and Lanchester look-alike Daimlers were no longer steaming their way across the Indian Ocean. However, in 1946, Ranji felt the need to add a couple of more cars to his fleet. The war-hardened management at Daimler were not really in the mood to start painting cars in Cambridge Blue (all Ranji's cars were painted in that colour as thats where he went to University) and have their diminished number of time-served craftsmen spend time creating special grilles etc. to turn their DE 27s into a Lanchester model that never existed but, inevitably, they capitulated as long as Ranji ordered four.Four DE 27, 4-litre, six-cylinder Daimlers (coded LE27) were duly commissioned with two of them, chassis numbers #51049 and #51050, being bodied by Vanden Plas as Allweathers (Body nos. 4031 and 4032) and LE27, #51050, is the car we are privileged to be able to offer today.We now move forward over 40 years, when it appears that #51050 returned to the UK and was first registered as KYM 544 on 20th September 1988. It was subsequently purchased by Gerry Wheeler, our vendor's late father, on 1st February 2008 and there is a photograph within the history file of the car on a trailer, finished in cream and red, and looking a bit sorry for itself. There followed a gentle restoration to Gerrys particularly high standards over several years, returning the car to top form prior to it joining the family's fleet of very impressively-presented vintage and PVT cars, available for special occasions, birthdays, proms, and weddings etc.As you can see from our images, the Lanchester has been returned to Cambridge Blue with Royal Blue wings and detailing and a matching soft-top. The interior has been fully retrimmed and re-upholstered in a delightful pastel blue leather, and is now Maharajah quality. With a fleet of around 20 early cars, and having fully restored it, all maintenance and servicing requirements were carried out in-house.The car is accompanied by its current V5C, old insurance and DVLA documents, a variety of MOTs with the oldest from 1988, wiring diagrams, correspondence and a number of photographs.We understand that #51050's LE27 Allweather twin sister, #51049, was shipped to the USA in the 1990s and, assuming it still survives, it would be wonderful to reunite them at Pebble Beach one day. A must-have for any car collector, the genesis of motorised transport. A painstakingly accurate replica in fantastic condition. Karl Benz, the brilliant German mechanical engineer, forever etched his name in the annals of automotive history in 1885 when he conceived and brought to life the world’s inaugural automobile, powered by an internal-combustion engine. Despite the existence of a handful of mechanically propelled contraptions across the globe at the time, it’s the Benz Motorwagen that stands as the indisputable pioneer. This innovative marvel took the form of a tricycle with two imposing rear wheels, propelled by a chain-drive single-speed drivetrain. The engine was equipped with a substantial horizontal flywheel to maintain the rotations churned out by a 954cc single-cylinder engine, delivering an awe-inspiring 0.9 horsepower. With this newfound power, the 3-wheeled wonder could hurtle down the road at an astonishing 16kph, an astounding feat for its era.Remarkably, it was Karl Benz’s wife, Bertha, who played an instrumental role in propelling the Motorwagen into the spotlight. In 1888, she embarked on a pioneering journey, the first documented long-distance trek by a vehicle driven by an internal combustion engine. Her expedition covered approximately 65 miles, spanning from Mannheim to her birthplace in Pforzheim. This arduous odyssey consumed around 13 gruelling hours and was executed without her husband Karl’s knowledge or the blessings of the authorities. The triumphant and well-documented voyage undoubtedly thrust the Benz Motorwagen into the global limelight.Given the international acclaim surrounding the Benz vehicle and Bertha’s historic journey, it was only a matter of time before a plethora of faithful running replicas emerged. Access to the original machine was generously granted, facilitating the acquisition of critical data and measurements, resulting in replicas that were genuine toolroom copies. So authentic were these reproductions that Mercedes-Benz Classic, the custodians of this automotive legacy, themselves commissioned around 100 of them. Ex-Ford press/promotion vehicle with just one private keeper since and a genuine 12,530 miles - offered fresh to market after almost 34 years of continuous ownership. With a known history from day one, this particular Sierra Cosworth, D64 XVX, arrived with Aston Martin Tickford Limited on the 22nd April 1987 and left as a fully fledged RS500 on 23rd June 1987, believed to be the 13th produced, prior to being immediately road-registered by its first custodian/keeper, the Ford Motor Company of Eagle Way in Brentford. It remained with Ford for the following 12 months and was pressed into service as a press/promotional vehicle illustrated, by its appearance in What Car magazine (September 1987) within an article entitled Ford’s 500, a copy of which will accompany the vehicle.Once duties with Ford were completed, the Sierra changed hands, arriving with its second and current owner on 1st June 1988. His intention was to use the car for promotional purposes once again, however after some 12 months, work commitments dictated a move abroad, and the RS500 was placed into storage, on stands, with wheels removed and covers in place, and there it has remained until this very day.Within the knowledgeable RS500 community, the car was thought to have disappeared many years ago, although a number of attempts to trace it were made over the years without success. With the upsurge in interest in these rare cars, the decision was recently made by our vendor to find a new custodian for the increasingly desirable 1980s homologation special, with it seeing light of day for the very first time since being interred all those years ago. With wheels refitted and covers removed, the Sierra rolled freely out of the garage to facilitate the photo shoot which accompanies this listing with the condition externally and internally being exceptional with no obvious deterioration. It is simply quite remarkable and should be considered as a benchmark example with an incredibly low, and warranted, 12,530 miles from new.After much consideration, the decision has been taken to offer D64 XVX exactly as it rolled out of storage after 32 years with no attempt being made to start, run or enhance the vehicle in any way, so it should be noted that, if the new owner’s intention is to put the Sierra back on the road, a full recommissioning will be required. Everything that a sports car should be - dynamic, rewarding and stimulating. The legendary Honda NSX (New Sportscar Experimental) was developed by the Honda Motor Corporation between 1984 and its eventual launch in 1990. With the NSX, Honda produced the world’s first everyday usable supercar, which left the Italian competition for dead in terms of reliability, practicality and build quality. These same qualities make it a joy to drive and own today. Its revolutionary chassis and suspension – all aluminium like the bodywork – making the car very light and extremely strong, were perfected at Suzuka with input from three-time F1 World Champion, Ayrton Senna.The NSX featured a state-of-the-art 3-litre 24-valve V6 'VTEC' engine (Variable Valve Timing), and despite being developed during F1's turbo-era, the engine was normally aspirated. Equipped with this new valve timing technology, the free-revving all-alloy unit produced 270bhp initially, which was good enough for a top speed of 168mph and a 0-60mph time of less than six seconds. Those performance figures put the NSX on a par with Ferrari's 348 GTB, but in terms of comfort, ergonomics, driving dynamics, and build quality, the NSX was in a different league entirely. Sadly, this superiority was not translated into sales, and by the time production ceased in 2005, fewer than 20,000 NSXs had been sold – consequently making them relatively rare and much sought after today.Ticking all the boxes, this particular first-generation Honda NSX Press Car is an original UK-registered, right-hand drive Targa with the desirable manual gearbox, finished in Sebring Silver with a Claret hide interior. Superbly presented, rare four-door 321bhp M3 Evolution on offer from the Private Collection of rock legend, Jay Kay. Based on the critically acclaimed E36 platform, BMW’s second generation M3 was unveiled in 1992 and featured a straight-six under the bonnet for the first time. Initially based on the stylish coupé model of the new 3-series, with its slippery new shape and fresh corporate face, the M3 employed some seriously sophisticated hardware, marking the first use of BMW’s new double VANOS system to adjust both inlet and exhaust camshafts. The sublime 3-litre engine boasted 24-valve technology, twin overhead camshafts along with the variable valve timing system, controlled by the latest Bosch Motronic fuel injection. Power was significantly boosted over the old four-cylinder model, rising to 286 horses at 7,000rpm. Already lauded as one of the finest-handling chassis on the market, in M3 guise the E36 became a world beater, capable of out-performing many exotics. Things continued to improve with the expansion of the range in 1994 to include a four-door saloon, and the arrival of the second generation Evolution cars powered by the new S52 B32, 3.2-litre straight-six with a raised compression ratio to 11.3:1, which significantly upped the power output to 321bhp at 7,400rpm. A 6-speed manual gearbox was fitted and the sequential DSG transmission was an option. With success came fast cars and a classic Aston Martin or two, but one day, an interest for improving a certain type of Land Rover began and became a passion that has grown into a private workshop with skilled technicians who do take their time when restoring the cars and maintaining our vendor’s fleet of classic Astons, Jensens and more. Finally, when asked by this consignor of the significance of Kinlee, our vendor referred us to his favourite song by The Kinks: I’m Not Like Everybody Else.First registered on 16th December 2005, our vendor bought this 110 Defender Double Cab in May 2021. Unlike the Wolf Defenders, he decided to have a bit of fun with a standard car, enhancing a utility vehicle to give it a more of an aggressive stance. The vehicle was stripped down to the chassis and completely rebuilt with each panel painted separately before reassembly. The chassis was cleaned and treated professionally. Our vendor tells us that a lot of thought went into the styling, with parts supplied by Uproar 4x4 with lots of bespoke stainless steel parts fitted to the double cab to give a bit of a stealth look. It’s fitted with an Alisport intercooler, Stealth rock sliders, bespoke bumper, light bar with Stealth bonnet armour and billet air vents to match to give that cool, aggressive stance.The rear load bay is fitted with a Bison Design 80mm diameter roll cage and a Willis Systems load bay kit. Wipac smoked glass LED lights fitted all-round are finished, with bespoke light guards to give that added protection. A complete, new, genuine XS second-row seating package was supplied by JLR Parts Ltd. with matching modular front seats, a cubby box by Exmoor Trim, and the effect is finished off with a Momo steering wheel and a new Alcantara roof lining. Sitting on a new set of BF Goodrich All-Terrain tyres on new black Sawtooth wheels and ready to face any challenge. It was far stronger and more reliable than the standard car on which it was based as a result. An order for some 8,000 Wolf Defenders was placed in 1996 by the Ministry of Defence at a cost of some £40,000 each for the basic Wolf. Some 97 variants were produced and they included the Air Drop, Ambulance, Helicopter Support Platform, Tropical Field Ambulance, Waterised Weapons Mounted Installation Kit and Winterised/Waterproofed Field Ambulance.The Wolf’s mechanical list is extensive but, in brief, it featured a 113bhp, 300TDi engine with no electronics except for the fuel pump solenoid, rust proofed chassis from new, gearbox cooling system, reinforced front bulkhead, rails and sills, reinforced Salisbury rear axle and standard reinforced front axle with uprated differentials. It's not known how many Ministry of Defence Wolf Defenders were scrapped due to combat damage, or quietly sold to foreign armies and NGOs, but most open-topped 'canvas tilt' Defenders rarely survived Army use, and Royal Navy cars suffered from their proximity to the sea. Far outnumbered in production by their hard-topped siblings, the canvas-backed Wolf rarely saw domestic service, as the hard top was better suited to the British weather and most were therefore in left-hand drive for overseas use.This 90 Wolf was originally registered in 1997 to the Ministry of Defence on 30th October and was decommissioned in 2020. Affectionally known as the 'Cappuccino', it has undergone a full body-off restoration, with each panel painted separately before reassembly. The heavy-duty chassis has been cleaned and treated ready to meet any challenges put before it. The inspiration for this build was to make it cool and simple at the same time, retaining its muscular military heritage and take it back to its Land Rover roots for its new civilian life. All the cappings have been galvanised to compliment the cappuccino colour along with the white powder-coated roll-cage when the top is removed.The dark chocolate leather interior by Exmoor Trim, Willis Systems load bay kit and the bespoke All Wheel Trim chocolate brown mohair soft top perfectly matches the white and cappuccino colour scheme. An LED upgrade light kit has been added to complete the look. Like all MoD Land Rovers, the odometer is in kilometres and the current reading is a shade under 104,000km or 64,622 miles. Our vendor has requested the Wolf’s history from the Ministry of Defence under the Freedom of Information Act and it should be available by the auction.The Design philosophy for this build was to keep it simple, and so the pioneer kit was retained along with its original heavy duty Wolf wheels which were repainted and fitted with new Michelin XZL tyres. Each car is special, whether it's the vastly improved 1973 Ford Escort, the last production Sierra RS Cosworth showing more than 21,000 miles, the fabulous 12,000km 'Group N' Escort Cosworth, the well-maintained Clio V6, the one-owner, low-mileage Evo VI GSR to, perhaps, the best 2005 Honda Civic Type R on the market.This highly celebrated car started out as an Escort 1300E on 18th December 1973 and according to the September issue of Classic Ford Magazine in 2016, where the car was glowingly reviewed, it took nearly a decade of patience, hard work and skill to get to what we see today. Not just rebuilt to be shown at the UK’s finest classic shows, Mr Penney, the owner, wanted the best combination of classic and modern. Details of the restoration are extensive, as are the sourcing of NOS parts, from critical components such as panels to the often overlooked trim. 'Detail and Finish' were the guiding principals throughout the process.New panels were fitted as required including the rear quarters, inner and outer sills, front and rear panel, slam panel, turrets, full length inner wing tops, door skins, front floor pans with the addition of strut-top strengthening plates. Other new parts included the windscreen, drop glasses, dash switches, boot trim and hockey sticks, front indicator lenses, rear light lenses, front quarter and rear bumpers with re-chromed door handles and rear light surrounds. Finished in Stardust Silver (Sikkens Autowave Waterbase and Crystal Lacquer), new roof vinyl and a fully rebuilt Britax Weathershield sunroof.The 2-litre Zetec (Silvertop) had covered 6,000 miles and was treated to new rings, a skimmed head, new head gasket and new valve seats before fitting with standard cams all painted in Satin Plastikote , 'BDA-style' rocker cover, new Weber 45s with braided fuel lines, Omex ECU, new painted copper radiator, Kenlowe fan, full 2.5" stainless exhaust including a 4-2-1 manifold. A 'Type 9' gearbox with Quaife shift was fitted with a fully rebuilt 3.77 English diff within a powder-coated rear axle, new front and half-shaft bearings, Bilstein adjustable coil-over front struts, with the front suspension powder-coated throughout. Bias box fed in braided hose to new M16 calipers, Mintex pads and vented discs. New rear dampers, powder-coated multi leaves with lowering blocks and new poly-bushes throughout. New banded Lotus 5.5J wheels and chrome centre caps with Falken 185/60/13sThe interior was treated to new RS 'Scheel'-specification Beta cloth interior, fully stripped, re-veneered dash and cappings, new door cards and footwell panels. New black Moonstone headlining and sunroof lining, original rear quarter panels and a new rear parcel shelf were also fitted. Previously, the Sierra Cosworth had maintained a competitive presence in world rallying but a new genre of rally cars was emerging. The brief now called for a smaller, lighter car to challenge the rapidly emerging cars from Japan. Indeed, Turner had cited that nearly a third of all cars entered in a previous national rally were Japanese in order to encourage the Ford decision-makers in Detroit to 'sign off' the Escort Cosworth rally program. They still took some robust persuading, as the production model was only available in front wheel drive, and the RS Escort was going to be far removed from the production item destined for the 'masses'. Worse still, production would have to be outsourced to Karmann, Germany. Two major considerations swayed Ford's decision to go ahead, firstly the new Escort was being labeled 'rather bland' by the press and needed a 'halo/hero car' and secondly the drivetrain for the new rally car was the well-proven, world-beater system from the Sierra Cosworth. Turner's plan had been to produce a 'pizza' rally car; Sierra Cosworth base with an Escort body-shell topping. A prototype was entered in a somewhat obscure rally in Spain, it won, and Ford's Marketing machine quickly seized the opportunity with an advertising campaign that meant they could only continue wholesale with the program, spawning the mantra, 'Everything we do is driven by you'. On its WRC debut 1993 Monte Carlo Rally, the RS Escorts of Miki Biasion and Francois Delacour led until the final stages. It was a success and provided Ford with ten WRC victories from 1993 - 1997 for Miki Biasion, Francois Delacour, Franco Cunico, Tommi Mäkinen and Carlos Sainz.Joining the Cheshire Collection when purchased from us in 2014 is this Ford Escort Cosworth 'Group N' Rally Car, built by R&M Motorsport in Frankfurt from a trimmed, LHD 909 Bodyshell in March 1995. It was brought into the UK and used by Neil Thompson of Performance Parts in Luton under the guise of its German number plate. In 1997, it was sold to its previous keeper and registered in the UK on a 'Q' plate and used in a Rally Sprint and RSOC shows. Purchased by our previous owner in 2011 and recommissioned for stage rallying with upgrades that then included; new fuel lines, installation of an FIA fuel drain, FIA-approved Motordrive fibreglass seats and FIA belts (which are currently out of date) replaced cambelt, current-spec restrictor to the turbo fitted, and professionally set up to suit by Dave Griffiths of InterPro producing 297bhp and 317ft/lb at the time.Used as a show car, it competed in the 2011 Regency Stages Tarmacadam Rally. On offer from the Barton J Hubert No Reserve Collection - with the hammer price (plus Buyers Premium) going to the Kids Club Kampala Charity; a simply stunning Collector-quality Series 1 with just under 1,900 miles from new. Purity is a fragile and vulnerable thing and in August 1996, the revolutionary new Lotus Elise seemed to ooze purity from every extruded anodised aluminium and epoxy resin crevice, with nothing superfluous subtracting from the essence of this truly minimalist, focused little sports car. Although 'beautiful to behold' it certainly was, the time-honoured relationship between 'form and function' was clearly evident in the way it went and handled, with its lightweight chassis-tub at 731kg failing to daunt the enthusiasm of the mid-mounted, 1.8-litre K-series engine and its 118bhp was enough for a 0-60mph time in the low sixes, allied to decent torque in the higher ratios. Clothed in two-piece 'clamshell' fibreglass bodywork, the featherweight two-door also featured all round double-wishbone, independent coil-over suspension, rack and pinion steering, four-wheel ventilated disc brakes and a 5-speed gearbox.Designer Julian Thomson and engineer Richard Rackham were keen to create a car with something of a motorcycle's feel and they undoubtedly succeeded; as is evident as much in the aluminium-and-rubber interior and neat little Stack instrument panel, as in the car's dynamic intimacy with the road, the wind and the weather. The Elise was a reaction to the corpulent world of leather, luxury and levers becoming increasingly evident in Lotus road cars, and was an attempt to recreate Colin Chapman’s early principles before he abandoned them in a move upmarket.Introduced at the 1995 Frankfurt Motor Show, just over 10,600 S1 Elises were built before the arrival of the S2 in 2001. It’s a testimony to the concept that, almost 27 years on from launch, the original 118bhp S1 still delivers. As with other great drivers' cars such as the E30 M3 and the original Elan, all things feel in balance – power, grip, handling and mass, making for a uniquely satisfying experience. The Series 2 naturally benefitted from further years of development, however the more demure Series 1 still defines the breed.The car presented here is a 1997 Lotus Elise S1 which was supplied new by long-established Lotus dealers Bell & Colvill to Robert ‘Robs’ Lamplough, the well-known 1960s racing driver and prominent member of the BRDC. Remarkably, it has covered just 1,900 miles from new, supported by its incredible condition and its detailed history file. This is a 'museum-quality' modern-classic, but it has been used and exercised sparingly, ensuring its fitness. Coincidentally, our very own ambassador, Harry Metcalfe, drove this actual car in October 2022, saying 'Nothing to see here, just an 1,800 miles from new 1996 Lotus Elise I was in today. Felt so light on its feet (K-Series was the perfect engine for the Elise) and steering was a reminder of how good a no-power assist rack can be. Pretty car too.'This little Lotus presents superbly in Racing Green Metallic with Magnolia hide, and is fitted with a 'Momo' steering wheel, built in driving lights and Perspex headlamp covers. A mid-20th century hand made carpet/large rug with light sage green ground. Decorated with birds, animals, floral and foliate decoration with blues, red, mustard, light brown, cream, 420cm x 295cm Condition Report: just a nice thing with no visible faults. tassels are only 1 inch long but that is how they were, they are not cut, the pile is good and even.

With 8-day movement, seconds and calendar inset dials (rubbed), circular hooded white painted 32cm dial, in a mahogany case featuring a long trunk door with quarter columns to trunk and flame mahogany sections. H210cm Condition Report: there are only two veneer losses, both by the hinge, the dial needs re painting as only when I 'torch light it' can I make out he writing on the dial. Otherwise it seemsfine !
