William James Muller (British, 1812-1845) Woman rocking a cradle outside a cottage in the Ardennes, 1834, insribed lower right "Ardennes 1834 WM", pencil, 21.50 x 28.50 cm. Provenance: From the collection of Philip Goodman Paper has slight yellowing. Quite dirty and with light foxing. Image looks very slightly smudged as if it has been in a folio.
A Victorian gold snake necklace, with graduated links, the snake's head with applied foliage, graduated emeralds and ruby eyes. From its mouth, hands and emerald set heart. Condition Report: 37.5cm not including chain (for quite a small neck.) Generally very good condition. A small repair to the underside of the snake's head. The middle emerald is light in colour and has a large chip. The link in the mouth is possibly replaced but the heart is original.
A good Georgian portrait miniature of Ralph Allen (1737-1777) of Bathampton Manor, Somerset, barrister-in-law in Middle Temple, in gold brooch mount, 3.8 x 3.1cm, inscribed to the back. Condition Report: Perfect but for light scratches to glass. Online colour is a little dull. Frame has a slot to receive a tang.
Two good quality early to mid 20th Century Paisley throws The first on black ground approx 3.06x1.78m, the second on ivory ground approx 3.32x1.72m (excluding fringing).(illustrated) CONDITION REPORT: Dark throw is fragile in places with some fraying to edges and areas of small holes, see images including an area of hand repair. Some areas of colour fading and minor staining. Light throw is in overall good condition for age. Some minor staining, small area of repair and small area of thinning fabric.
An Art Deco American silver, paste set plaque brooch Of canted rectangular form set with white and green paste stones, with black enamelling highlights, stamped 'sterling' to reverse, in associated box, 4.5cm wide CONDITION REPORT: Two paste stones deficient, otherwise good condition in line with age and light wear.
(British 20th Century) "Jockey saddled on a race course with attendant" Oil on canvas, possibly over a printed ground. 54x64cms, framed. CONDITION REPORT: Extensive yellowing to the varnish layer, discolouration to the paint layer below. Several areas of overpaint visible to both light and dark pigment areas. Cracquelere visible throughout. The painting has been re-lined and the original edges of the canvas appear to have been removed. Several areas of loss to the gesso on the frame. Extensive surface dirt to the paint layer. Scratching to the paint layer.
A fine walnut piano top mechanical Davenport The rectangular top with a pierced three quarter gallery with a lever operating the rising tier with three frieze drawers flanked by two pigeon holes above a hinged fall-front enclosing two shot drawers and a pull out slide with a Morocco leather and gilt tooled hinged writing surface flanked by pen tray and covered compartment and four plate and glass inkwells with an arrangement of four side drawers one with three divisions four faux drawers leaf carved cabriole legs flanking a panel raised upon an incurve plinth base and compressed bun feet 103cm x 58cm x 57cm. (illustrated) CONDITION REPORT: The rise and fall mechanism in good working order, two turned handles missing to lower frieze drawer, part of shaped frieze missing to inner pigeon hole, shaped fret work frieze minor chip the back panel and overall back good colour, some minor rippling to the piano front, light fading, hinge in good condition, two turn handles missing to inner frieze drawers, original Morocco and gilt writing surface, hinge writing surface good condition, divisions to right hand side but no fittings, one pen tray on left hand side, front legs in good condition, panelled front in good condition, slight shrinkage crack to the incurved frieze left hand side, four side frieze drawers one with a shrinkage crack just below the right hand handle with two glass ink wells with brass tops, plinth in good condition , minor chips to turned front legs, back two legs slightly outset but appear to be original, good condition.
