Japanese B1 Advance "Foil" Poster for Octopussy (1983). This is an extremely rare poster. The B1 poster format is far scarcer than corresponding B2 formats, but in addition this is an Advance poster printed on foil. We have not seen another poster like this in the ten years since this item was acquired at auction.28 1/2" x 40 1/2" (72.3 x 102.8 cm)Condition: GoodUnrestored with light foldlines and now rolled. There are a few minor scuffs and single pin holes to corners. Foil posters are notoriously difficult to photograph but this poster is in very good condition and displays to great effect.Artist: Unknown Artist£500 - 700VAT Status: M

US One-Sheet "Domestic" poster for the penultimate Sean Connery James Bond film "Diamonds Are Forever" (1971). The poster design pictures Bond with two glamorous women against a background of explosive and colourful action. The "Domestic" variant One-Sheet was designed for use in the home American market (it carries a ratings box lower right).27" x 41" (69 x 104 cm)Condition: GoodUnrestored, folded with light fold line wear, 1" tape repair to tear upper rim and overall in very good condition.Artist: Robert McGinnis£100 - 200VAT Status: M
Alternate image double-sided poster for "The Living Daylights" (1987). This Glidrose Publications poster presents two different images of Timothy Dalton as Bond, one with gun in hand and the other with head resting on fist. This is a highly unusual and scarce Bond poster.17" x 22" (43 x 56 cm)Condition: Good/ExcellentUnrestored, unfolded with light creasing and pin holes to corners.Artist: Unknown Artist£100 - 200VAT Status: M
UK Quad poster for the second Sean Connery James Bond film "From Russia With Love" (1963). For many, this poster encapsulates the essence of James Bond, his laconic nature, exotic locations, action, adventure and lots of attractive women. The poster illustration was by British based Italian artist Renato Fratini and unusually the poster carries the artist's printed name to the rim.30" x 40" (76 x 102 cm)Condition: GoodUnrestored and folded with fold line wear (slight paper loss to several crossfolds), a few light tape stains from reverse (these to mid horizontal fold line), small edge nicks (longest 1/4") and very faint "bleed-through" from writing to the reverse on the upper right vertical fold line. Overall still in good condition.Artist: Renato Fratini£3000 - 5000VAT Status: M
UK Quad poster for the fourth Sean Connery James Bond film "Thunderball" (1965). The Robert McGinnis poster illustration centres Bond in scuba diving gear among a group of bathing beauties. The text top left cleverly incorporates the "007" script. The poster was printed with an off-white background. Given the historical vogue for linen-backing, this poster represents an excellent example of this title in totally original unrestored condition.30" x 40" (76 x 102 cm)Condition: ExcellentUnrestored, folded with very light creasing to bottom rim but otherwise in superb condition.Artist: Robert McGinnis£4000 - 6000VAT Status: M
Bollinger Promo poster for "The Living Daylights" (1987). Bollinger champagne frequently featured in Bond films from "Live And Let Die" (1973) onwards, so a commercial tie-in was almost inevitable. It is believed that the print run for this exclusive marketing initiative was modest only and this poster is scarce.22" x 33" (56 x 83.7 cm)Condition: Good/ExcellentUnrestored, unfolded with very light creasing and a 1/4" nick to lower rim and overall in very good condition.Artist: Unknown Artist£200 - 300VAT Status: M
Linen-backed US Subway "Look Up!" Advance poster for "Thunderball" (1965). Several variant Subway poster designs for "Thunderball" were issued including "Look Out!" and "Look Here!" posters, each presenting different poster illustrations. This poster required very little restoration and now looks very impressive. This is a scarce poster to find, particularly in this kind of condition.45 1/2" x 59 1/4" (115.5 x 150.5 cm)Condition: ExcellentLinen-backed and originally folded. Minor restoration to corners and a few small edge tears (longest 3") with very light touch ins to fold line wear. Prior to restoration the poster was in very good condition and now presents to excellent effect.Artist: Frank McCarthy£2000 - 3000VAT Status: M
US One-Sheet "International" poster for "For Your Eyes Only" (1981). This "International" version US One-Sheet, supplements the Bill Gold "Legs" design with the poster illustration provided by British artist Brian Bysouth for the UK poster campaign. The poster here is a rare unfolded example.27" x 41" (69 x 104 cm)Condition: ExcellentUnrestored, unfolded with some very light creasing from previous rolling but overall in excellent condition.Artist: Brian Bysouth and Bill Gold£100 - 200VAT Status: M
UK Quad Advance poster for "A View To A Kill" (1985). There is a tendency for this poster to exhibit transfer of the red print to the left side but as this example escaped machine-folding, this has not occurred.30" x 40" (76 x 102 cm)Condition: GoodUnrestored, unfolded but with some light creasing along upper rim and across centre of poster.Artist: Daniel Goozee£100 - 200VAT Status: M
Two Japanese first release B2 posters for "The Spy Who Loved Me" (1977) and "Moonraker" (1979), the "Moonraker" being the gloss version with Daniel Goozee poster illustration. UK Quad "Style-B" poster for "You Only Live Twice" (1967). Known also as the "Little Nellie" poster, the Frank McCarthy illustration presents Bond as the epitome of "cool", calmly posing in his gyrocopter with explosions around him. This is one of the earlier 30" x 40" print run posters (the later print run was slightly larger than "normal" Quad size).30" x 40" (76 x 102 cm)Condition: GoodUnrestored, folded with light fold line wear, including a 1/2" separation to left vertical fold line at centre crossfold. Overall in very good condition.Artist: Frank McCarthy£500 - 700VAT Status: M
UK Quad Advance poster for the final Sean Connery James Bond film "Never Say Never Again" (1983). The poster mentions the West End release date, timed to capture Christmas trade and avoid direct competition with the Roger Moore Bond film "Octopussy" which was released earlier in the Summer.30" x 40" (76 x 102 cm)Condition: GoodUnrestored, folded with light fold line wear.Artist: Unknown Artist£100 - 200VAT Status: M
US One-Sheet "Blue Text" poster for "The Spy Who Loved Me" (1977). There are three variant US One-Sheet posters that were used for the general release of the film. We believe that the blue header text version, as here, has only been seen a couple of times before in the auction market. Wanting a more powerful visual appeal, a second version with the header text in a mixture of blue and red was printed but this was then dropped in favour of the more familiar black/red script design. This extremely rare "Blue Text" poster is in unfolded condition too.27" x 41" (69 x 104 cm)Condition: GoodUnrestored, unfolded with light surface creasing, 1/4" nick to upper edge and light staining bottom rim but overall in good condition.Artist: Bob Peak£300 - 500VAT Status: M
US Subway "Look Down!" Advance for "Thunderball" (1965). Showing McCarthy's exciting image of an underwater fight scene, this is the scarcest of all the variant US Subway designs. The colours on this poster remain particularly bold and vibrant.45 1/2" x 59 1/4" (115.5 x 150.5 cm)Condition: ExcellentUnrestored, once folded but now rolled with several small edge nicks (longest 1" to upper rim) and a few light scuff marks to blank rim. Still in excellent condition overall.Artist: Frank McCarthy£2000 - 3000VAT Status: M
UK Quad double-bill poster for the first two Roger Moore James Bond films, "The Man With The Golden Gun" (1974) and "Live And Let Die" (1973), this being for a 1975 re-release. The header text is simple but effective, stressing "Action", "Double", "Thrills" and "Great". This re-release poster with the solo image of Bond is far scarcer than the later re-release which shows artwork from the original Quad posters.30" x 40" (76 x 102 cm)Condition: GoodUnrestored, folded with light creasing/foldline wear but overall in very good condition.Artist: Unknown Artist£200 - 300VAT Status: M

Three Alternate US One-Sheet Teaser posters and one standard release One-Sheet for "Licence To Kill" (1989). Although all three Teaser posters carry the same "Coming July '89" text, they are different versions. Two posters carry the Americanised spelling of "License". The poster with the white title text is a rare "Printer's Proof" whereas the yellow title text poster is standard. The third Teaser poster carries the alternate English spelling of "Licence" and this title text is in gold. The standard release One-Sheet is the scarce version with a "Licence" spelling film title but "License" text to lower right rim.All 27" x 41" (69 x 104 cm)Condition: ExcellentAll unrestored, unfolded and in excellent condition. The bottom rim area of the"Printer's Proof" has some very light creasing.Artist: Keith Hamshere£200 - 300VAT Status: M
UK Double-Crown poster for "Diamonds Are Forever" (1971). This poster format was produced in much smaller quantities than the corresponding Quad poster. The poster illustration presents a close-up image of Bond and the two women that feature on the Quad. The original Robert McGinnis artwork was deemed to be too risqué and he reworked his composition to raise the girl's hand from Bond's lower abdomen. This rare poster remains in excellent order.20" x 30" (51 x 76 cm)Condition: ExcellentUnrestored and folded with two extra light vertical folds 1 1/2" in from the left/right outside edges. A STATIC DISPLAY MODEL FOR THE S.V. MAIN, ORIGINALLY BUILT BY RUSSELL OF GREENOCK FOR J. NOURSE, 1884, THE HULL MODELLED ABOARD MAIN CIRCA 1909 AND COMPLETED BY R.A. WILSON, C.1972the 15in. carved hull plated with paper and painted, the varnished decks with painted fittings, deck house and covered boats on chocks, painted masts with standing and running rigging and yards, mounted within glazed case -- 14½ x 24 x 7¼in. (37 x 61 x 18.5cm.)It's understood this model was largely re-built and restored by R.A. Wilson, circa 1972 using a hull that was probably made aboard the Main around 1909 by a sailor who gave it, unfinished, to one Hans De Mierre. De Mierre wrote 'The Long Voyage' about his time aboard Main and it suggests that the hull was made aboard the Main between 1905 and 1909 by one of the able seamen: "Before getting down into the boat, he leaned on his elbows and called over to me "Goodbye Long'un, you'll find that model in my bunk!" before the words had sunk in, or I could say thank you. he had gone! I ran forward and in the half light of the deserted forecastle found the model disassembled and packed in a box, and I was delighted!" De Mierre never did anything with it and passed it to Robert (Bob) Wilson to complete.Charles Miller Ltd is grateful to Mr Wilson for providing the above data.Charles Miller Ltd is grateful to Mr Wilson for providing the above data.Condition report: Several strands of rigging parted, veneered edges to case peeling.
A WELL PRESENTED AND FINELY DETAILED 1:192 SCALE WATERLINE MODEL OF THE LIGHT CRUISER H.M.S. ACHILLES AS FITTED IN 1939 modelled by John R. Haynes with 34in. laminated carved hull with port holes with rigoles, boarding ladders and armour plating, lined wooden decks with detailed fittings as appropriate including anchors with studded chains, deck rails, main and secondary armament, search lights, torpedo tubes, Supermarine Walrus biplane on catapult with crane, suite of fitted launches and boats and much other fine detailing, mounted on a green painted sea base with name plate and contained within glazed wooden display case -- overall measurements 11½ x 41in. (29 x 104cm.)Footnote: In December 1939, three British cruisers - Ajax, Achilles and Exeter - under the command of Commodore Henry Harwood formed one of various task forces searching the South Atlantic for the German pocket-battleship Graf Spee which had been preying on the Allied merchant shipping since soon after the War began. Harwood believed Graf Spee would be attracted to the busy shipping lanes off the estuary of the River Plate and his intuition proved uncannily accurate when he sighted his adversary on 13 December. Splitting his force to sail either side of Graf Spee , Harwood went into action immediately. Within half-an hour, all three of his cruisers had been damaged, with Exeter and Ajax so severely mauled that Harwood was forced to retire. Instead of pursuing his quarry when he was in a position either to defeat them or to escape, Captain Langsdorff took Graf Spee into the neutral port of Montevideo where he was allowed to remain for a few days. Believing that he was boxed in by a superior force which was growing by the day, Langsdorff took his ship out into the Plate estuary on 17 December and scuttled her. A somewhat hollow victory for the Royal Navy, the three cruisers had nevertheless fought valiantly against a much more powerful enemy whose sinking provided a sorely-needed boost to British morale as the War gathered momentum.Condition report: Fine overall condition.
