Heavier scuffs to the tops of the smaller three tables. other genera, wear and slight fading to the top of the largest table, some edge wear to all and slight varnish degrading at corner joints. Despite faults overall appearance ok.
ROYAL DOULTON; a 'Pastoral' pattern 106-piece part tea and dinner service comprising thirteen dinner plates, diameter 27cm, six plates, diameter 23cm, twelve dessert plates, diameter 20.5cm, twelve side plates, fourteen tea cups and fourteen saucers, a gravy boat and stand, milk jug, teapot, coffee pot, sugar bowl, two entrée dishes and covers, an oval serving plate, a circular sandwich plate, fourteen dessert bowls and ten small plates (106). Additional InformationMost of the plates and bowls with light glaze scratches, knife marks, etc through use. All pieces with a little bit of rubbing to the gilding, but essentially ok. The handle of the coffee pot is cracked and weak.

A pair of 19th century Bohemian faceted glass perfume bottles and stoppers, with relief and gilt floral decoration, height 17.5cm (2).Additional InformationWear to the gilding as expected, light scratches, scuffs, there are very minimal nicks/nibbles to the edges of the relief cabochons, one with a larger chip to the foot rim.
A large Victorian Bristol Blue glass rolling pin, length 78cm, together with two witches' balls, diameter 18cm, (3).Additional InformationBoth balls with some wear to the colour on the inside surface, some air bubbles in glass, one bubble to each is close to the surface. The rolling pin with heavy wear to the gilt detailing throughout making most of it indistinct, genera, wear to the cut end. All with some light surface scratches.

The boards have shelf / book rubbing to the marbling. Slight creasing to one of the spines, general light rubbing at edges and slight fading to the spine on Vol I. Internally clean and bright. Some slight yellowing at the internal crease/gutter of some of the initial pages from the glue of the tabs under the end papers.

The dust jackets are in poor condition however, the vellum is bright, perhaps slightly yellower to Vol II. Both with light wear / lightly rubbed etc. Internally with some foxing and browning – more so to the beginning and end of the book. Some offsetting of the frontis plate – this is heavier to vol II. Page edges darkened and with general age wear. Plate called for 482 is at 484. Despite faults overall appearance ok.Vol II last chapter is xxi. (THIS IS ONLY A 2 VOLS SET.)

Bottom of the spine with a crease. Back board with some light and slight marks. Front end papers with brown marks to each corner from an old dust cover now gone, the back free end paper matches this and has one other mark at edge. Slight offsetting of the frontis plate through the tissue guard. Edges of pages with a slightly flattened appearance at the bottom when the book is closed. Internally with some light page toning.

Rubbing and wear to the spine with some cracking and splitting at the top and the bottom. Boards with some light scuff and chips to three of the corners. Internally with some light foxing, uncut paper edge wear but generally appears clean.

A 19th century rosewood workbox, 23cm, with two 20th century Damascus mother of pearl and wood inlaid boxes, the square box length 24cm, the octagonal box length 16.25cm and a pair of Dudson jasperware type vases, height 18cm (5).Additional InformationThe rosewood workbox lacking some of the dividers internally and one of the mounts to the underside of the lid is loose, some wear to the paper internally and a loss to the finial internally. Externally has general age wear patina and losses to the veneer on both sides of the right hand corner. The square Damasus box with light age wear patina but generally ok. The smaller octagonal box with heavy wear to the underside of the base, age wear patina throughout. The Dudson vases, one has a glue repaired chip to the rim and a crack downwards from this.

Fraying down the front gutter of the spine and rubbing to the spine. Cloth to Vol I rubbed to the top and bottom of the spine. Wear along both gutter edges – more so to the back spine gutter. Both with ink dedication to the front free end paper dated 1909. End papers to both browned and with some foxing at the beginning and end of the books. Pages with general light browning. Some slight creases here and there. Despite faults, overall ok.

The cover with some light line marks to the pictorial section.

M’Millan, 1816 (1).Henry Arthur Johnstone was born in St Pancras and his library, which contained many books on natural history, was sold to a London based bookseller in 1921.Additional InformationThe front gutter at the end papers is slightly open and a little loose at the top, some water marks to the top of the end papers. There is some foxing here and there throughout. The seed plates are brown around the specimens and this has offset onto the preceding page. The text and grass plates with expected light browning. The grasses have left an indentation onto the back of the page which they are secured to. Uncut pages with general edge browning, wear and a few minor tears. Binding with light marks throughout, two light scuffs to the front board, some rubbing to the spine and corners and slight split to the top of the front gutter. There is no folding engraved plan.

Corners of Took the great smials and The longfather tree with fold over to bottom corner and this has occurred at binding because the fold over section is larger than the page size. A pair of West African carved hardwood table lamps modelled as a male and female bust, height 46cm, together with a carved hardwood wall mask, height 33cm, and a pair of carved hardwood female figures (5).Additional InformationAll generally grubby throughout and with general light age wear scuffs and scratches throughout, the lamp fittings to the pair of bust are both damaged and will need replacing, the busts with some chips and losses in the head dress section and the dark finish is not original but later, there is possibly some damage underneath this, some general chips around the base of the lamps, the base of one of the female figures is split and there is a split running up the back of this figure which has had some repair.

A hallmarked silver mounted cut glass globular scent bottle and stopper, Birmingham 1901, height 12cm, with a silver lidded faceted glass scent bottle and cover, London 1895, with two further faceted glass scent bottles, a waisted glass scent bottle with silver collar, a silver lidded toilet jar and a plate mounted dressing table jar, (7).Additional InformationThe marks to the globular scent bottle are rubbed and general light wear and a couple of slight nicks to the underside of the base, the taller scent bottle with the hammered finish cover has many small dents and a split to the cover, the glass screw thread internally has had a chip which has been ground out and a few other smaller chips, lid still closes ok, the smaller scent bottles both have knocks to the silver on the lid, one more so than the other, there are small dents to the lid of the toilet jar, the waisted shaped scent with a few small nicks here and there.
