A Victorian painted wood police truncheon, polychrome decorated with crowned cipher above a cartouche inscribed "Police", with turned handle stamped "Field 233 Holborn". 43.5 cm CONDITION REPORT: On first viewing this truncheon appears to be in good clean order. There are some small knocks to the paintwork at the housing end to the handle. The paintwork appears to be generally in good condition. There is a small section of light paint chips on the white ermine of the crown on the right hand side. Also just to the left of the chips is a drip mark of a foreign substance which is over the glaze and may be removable but is hard set at the moment.
A rare oak and pine miniature chest of drawers by John Bubb, early 19th century, with four long drawers each with hand cut brass escutcheon and turned brass knop handles, raised on later bracket feet. Width 17.8 cm, height 20.5 cm, depth 8.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The oak top and drawers are nicely patinated although there is a light band running down the front of the drawers in between each handle. The legs are all later replacements. There is some shrinkage to the one piece backboard. The pine sides and drawer dividers retain their original staining although there are some very small insignificant scratches, but I believe do not detract. The drawers fit the carcass well but are not exactly snug.

British school, WW2 sketches, oil on canvas, 122 x 214cmThis substantial painting appears to depict incidents from the North African campaign in the Second World War. The panel top centre is almost certainly an Allied (British Eighth Army and US Army) parade into either Algiers in November 1942 or Tripoli in February 1943 as the Vichy French and Germans were pushed out of North Africa. The artist remains unidentified but on balance almost certainly British. There are both US and British soldiers depicted and the British army had a long traditional of embedding war artists into military campaigns from the start of the Great War. This painting acts as a montage of events, from hospital interiors to courtrooms, perhaps witnessed by the artist while in the theatre of war. It also retains a Mediterranean feel in both palate and the portrayal of light.
Indian School, two gouache paintings/book plates, each with ink inscription. Images 16 cm x 12 cm and 175. cm x 11 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The picture is in generally good condition. It is double sided. When held up to the light there is one very tiny pinhole perforation in the right hand margin just to the right of the top right hand angel wing. Other than this there are no condition issues that we can see. The colours are bright and strong and there is no evidence of any paint loss.
Three Sunderland lustre plaques, 19th century, two with religious texts with shell and scroll moulded borders, the other with printed garden scene, all heightened with enamels. Largest diameter 24 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The plaque inscribed “Praise Ye The Lord” has a small restored patch to the lower border otherwise there are no obvious further cracks or chips. There is a factory flaw running across the letter “L”. Other than that mentioned there are no further post production faults. The floral landscape plaque has a small slither chip to the bottom right hand corner though this does not impact on any of the decoration. There are no post production faults or flaws visible. On the biblical text example the lustre has faded and is now a very light pink/orange colour. There is a very small amount of glaze rubbing to the top left hand and right hand corners. The right hand corner has two minute nibbles on the reverse. The glaze is very finely crazed. Other than those mentioned there are no further post production faults visible.
A Crown Dresden porcelain cabaret set, circa 1900, with panels of courting couples and floral sprays against a yellow ground, inscribed marks. CONDITION REPORT: The teapot lid has been broken and professionally restored. The interior of the lid is obviously oversprayed. The left hand side of the teapot when looking from above has a very tiny chip to the rim of the spout. The decoration throughout appears to be in good order. The knop to the lid of the cream jug has the gilding rubbed on all four corners and there is very light gild rubbing on each corner of the lid but it is otherwise intact. The cream pot itself is in good order throughout with no obvious faults. The handle attached to the cream pot leans slightly to the right, however, this may be to aid pouring.
An English porcelain twelve piece part dessert service, circa 1900, decorated with a band of roses against a salmon pink and gilt border, comprising eight plates, two short tazzas and two tall tazzas. CONDITION REPORT: Two small tazzas are sound and ring out nicely when tapped. The centre gilding to one has more of a ghost like appearance and is rubbed. The gilding framing the flowers is also 20% rubbed. Each plate has very minor surface marks. Of the two tall tazzas one has a repair and numerous cracks to the top of the stem, it also has a breakage beneath the bulbous knop of the stem and has been re-attached. The surface decoration of this tazza is in good order. The other tall tazza rings out nicely when tapped and appears to be in sound order. The gilding to the centre has scratches and is 20% rubbed. There are 8 dessert plates all of which appear to be in sound order and ring out nicely when tapped. On the whole there is very little wear & tear or minor surface scratches. The central gilding to majority is in good order however two have light scratches and are slightly faded.
A pair of Georgian decanters, mallet form, with shaped stoppers and clear bands above four ring necks and with part faceted and fluted bodies. Height 28 cm A pair of monochrome Chinese vases, Republic period, decorated with loadies in a fenced garden, heightened with gilding, pseudo Qianlong seal mark. Height 25 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Both stoppers have very small chips to the top of the knop, one has a further small chip to the left shoulder and to the right corner of the band. The other knop has a further chip to the lower left section of the central band and a tiny grazed chip to the lower right section of the central band. One decanter has some very, very light scratch marks to the outer rim of the neck but these are only viewable through catching them at the right angle in the light through a jeweller's loop or feeling them with a fingernail. There is also very, very small dark grazing to the underside of the rim on the opposing side. The joins to each band can be clearly seen, and the body and base appear to remain free of any chips, cracks or flaws. The other decanter has a minute rim chip which can be felt with a fingernail. The rings joins can be clearly seen on each and the main body and base appear to be free of any obvious faults, cracks or flaws.

Garden Sculpture: ▲ Paul VanstoneReclining female figureWhite marble165cm highPaul Vanstone studied sculpture at Central St. Martins School of Art before completing an MFA in sculpture at the Royal College of Art, from which he graduated in 1993. Following his graduation Vanstone worked in Italy at the traditional marble carving studios near the famous Carrera quarries. He also spent time working in Berlin and has travelled to Rajasthan to learn India’s traditional marble carving techniques. On his return to the UK, and for the next five years, Vanstone became an assistant to leading British sculptor, Anish Kapoor. Consequently, works carved by Vanstone on Kapoor’s behalf have been exhibited at world leading galleries, including the Tate Modern, London. Since then Paul has shown his work at a number of major galleries in London, including the British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum, as well as galleries and sculpture gardens throughout the UK. He has gained a number of prestigious awards and commissions, among them being the Henry Moore Award (1991) and the Lady Carrington Sculpture Garden commission (1991 and 1996). Paul carves sculpture from stone, the nature of the material dictating how each piece evolves. His fascination is with the hardness and light reflecting qualities of marble and how this can be transformed to portray the curvature of the human body and the delicacy and flow of covering cloth.
