1961 Jaguar Mk. II (2.4 Litre) Transmission: manual Mileage: 63000Synonymous with the swinging ‘60’s and the hit TV series, Inspector Morse, the Jaguar Mk. II saloon has been used as a vehicle to transport everyone from dignitaries and politicians to bank robbers and the criminal select. Desirable due to being a well-balanced saloon car with space for four adults and a good size boot, it also boasted engine options including the mighty Jaguar 3.8 litre power unit; small wonder it became popular as a getaway vehicle. 1950 Chrysler Newport Town & Country Transmission: manual Mileage: 54000The 1950 Chrysler Town & Country was built in limited numbers, just shy of 700 units. It was powered by a 323.5 cubic inch straight eight that cranked out 135 horsepower. Despite the low production, the Town & Country did accomplish its mission of adding a bit of glamour to a basically dull Chrysler line up. The 1950 Town & Country was base-priced at $4003, almost $900 more than a New Yorker Newport. Even the Imperial Newport, when it debuted in 1951, cost only a few dollars more. In fact, the Town & Country took the honour of being the most expensive closed car in the 1950 Detroit line up, excepting limousines and corporation sedans. It cost about $500 more than the Cadillac Coupe de Ville and over $1000 more than the four-door hardtop Kaiser Virginian.The Chrysler Newport Town & Country was only produced in limited numbers with just 698 ever made. It is believed there are only two examples in the UK and the car on offer today is one of the only black on black cars known to exist worldwide. This example has only done 54,000 miles which is thought to be correct and has been fully restored to a high standard, boasting beautiful black paint, gleaming wood grain and slick white wall tyres. The interior is in time-warp original condition having never been restored but very well preserved. The vendor states that the whole car is in genuinely outstanding condition. We believe this example was exhibited previously by a German museum for a number of years and hence we would recommend some light recommissioning before being driven in earnest. 1959 Austin Healey Sprite Mk. I ‘Frogeye’ Transmission: manual Mileage: 56123The Austin Healey Sprite is a small, open sports car which was announced to the press in Monte Carlo on 20th May 1958, just before the Monaco Grand Prix. It was intended to be a low-cost model that 'a chap could keep in his bike shed' yet be the successor to the sporting versions of the pre-war Austin Seven. The Sprite was designed by the Donald Healey Motor Company which received a royalty payment from the manufacturers, BMC. It first went on sale at a price of £669, using a mildly tuned version of the Austin A-Series engine and many other components from existing cars to keep costs down. The little Sprite quickly became affectionately known as the 'Frogeye'. The 43bhp, 948cc engine was upgraded with twin 1 1/8” SU carburettors. The rear axle was both located and sprung by quarter-elliptic leaf springs, again with lever-arm shock absorbers. There were no exterior door handles; the driver and passenger were required to reach inside to open the door. There was also no boot lid and access to the spare wheel and luggage compartment was achieved by tilting the seat-backs forward and reaching under the rear deck. This superb Sprite has been extensively restored to a good standard and as such presents in fabulous condition. The light blue coachwork is unblemished as is the interior. The hood is new and the car has been very well trimmed inside. Upon turning the key the engine fires up immediately and we are advised this ‘Frogeye’ drives every bit as good as she looks. These fabulous cars are remarkably simple and can be taken care of by any reasonably competent DIY mechanic. Parts are easy to obtain as the cars are well supported by the various owner’s clubs. 1993 Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evo 2 Transmission: manual Mileage: 87748The Lancia Delta was launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1979 and is best known for its domination of the World Rally Championship in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Constantly being developed, the first 'Evolution' cars were built at the end of 1991 and carried on through 1992; these models were the final homologation cars built for the Lancia Rally Team competing under the Martini Racing banner. In June 1993, the second 'Evolution' version of the Delta HF Integrale featured an updated version of the two litre, 16 valve turbo engine to produce more power and torque, now developing 215 PS (against 210 PS on the earlier un-catalytic version). The 1993 Integrale received a cosmetic and functional facelift that included 16 light alloy rims with 205/45 ZR 16 tyres, body colour roof moulding to underline the connection between the roof and the solar tinted windows, aluminium fuel cap and air-intake grilles on the front mudguards, red colour coded cam cover, leather-covered three-spoke Momo steering wheel and Recaro seats upholstered in tan alcantara with diagonal stitching. 1965 Sunbeam Tiger Transmission: manual Mileage: 25140Inspired by the AC Cobra that was effectively the British AC Ace sports car powered by the large American Ford 4.2 litre, V8, the Sunbeam Tiger first saw the light of day in 1964. Based upon the Rootes Group, Sunbeam Alpine, the Tiger - with the Ford power plant slotted into the engine bay, it became what is surely one of motoring's true 'wolf in sheep's clothing'. Precise handling was retained by keeping the Alpine's rack and pinion steering with stunning performance due not only to the muscle V8 but also due to the lightweight Alpine shell.This very nice example was fully restored in 1984 and is presented in red with a black interior, a new walnut dashboard and has recently had new black carpets fitted. The present owner has looked after this wonderful and powerful British classic since his acquisition in 2015, making sure the oil was changed regularly and in 2016, he renewed the master and slave cylinders as well as having new shock absorbers fitted at the same time. 1971 Marcos GT 3000 Transmission: manual Mileage: 34725Marcos was founded in 1959 by Jem Marsh and Frank Costin, in 1961 Costin left Marcos and Denis Adams took over as stylist working with his carpenter brother Peter. The cars were a big hit with the in crowd during the 60s and 70s with the likes of film director Sam Wanamaker, Rod Stewart and many other celebrity's enjoying ownership. The Marcos evolved from the race track and is a true drivers car. The basic design endured for more than three decades and evolved to cope with over 500bhp. The first five years saw the Marcos produced with a wooden chassis after which a more conventional tubular steel space frame was used. 2009 Land Rover Defender SVX 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Transmission: manual Mileage: 24300This special edition of the iconic Land Rover Defender was introduced to celebrate the 60th anniversary of this classic British 4×4 and since 1948, the original Land Rover has come a long way. The limited edition SVX shares its mechanical layout with the standard Defender, including the same, recently revised 2.4 litre, four-cylinder, turbo diesel engine. There are, however, a host of upgrades including a full, front to back, roll cage in contrasting silver to the Santorini black body colour with 60th Anniversary side-panel decals. Weather gear includes a mohair ‘bikini’ hood which goes on quickly or you can opt for the full hood enclosing the rear deck too (both supplied). Additionally, it benefits from big wheels, distinctive brightwork and a silver-coloured grille and headlamp surround with LED units to the rear. It’s also reported to be ‘flatter-riding’ than any previous Defender courtesy of some subtle, SVX-only improvements to the damping making life more comfortable. To the interior, the obvious addition is a large set of Recaro seats with firmer cushioning transforming the driving position from the usual Defender to, it is thought by the motoring press, ‘something close to ideal’. There are also a host of other small but well considered trim changes including an SVX gearstick, an SVX plaque, side steps, iPod connectivity, electric windows, satnav, and air conditioning. These cars perform brilliantly off-road thanks to excellent ground clearance and axle articulation, a locking centre differential and clever traction control. The owner spent some time looking for an SVX and back in 2019, he found one. He has used it sparingly, covering just 700 miles since purchase. During that time, he has replaced the front swivel joints with genuine parts as well as numerous other service items including intercooler hoses. The tyres are in good order and sit on genuine SVX alloys with the spare strapped down in the boot alongside two side-facing jump seats. 1985 Mercedes-Benz 500SL Transmission: automatic Mileage: 96665The Mercedes-Benz SL class has been manufactured since 1954. The designation SL derives from the German 'Sport Leicht' or 'Sport Light' and was first applied to the 300SL 'Gullwing,' named after the upward-opening doors. The term SL-Class refers to the marketing variations of the vehicle, including the numerous engine configurations spanning five design generations. The Mercedes-Benz R107 and C107 cars were produced from 1971 through to 1989, being the second longest single series ever produced by Mercedes-Benz after the G-Class. 1908 De Dion-Bouton AL2 8hp Rear Entrance Tonneau Transmission: manual Mileage: The names of De Dion and Bouton are inextricably linked with the pioneer years of the motor car, initially in company with Trépardoux in the building of light steam carriages, the first of which appeared in 1883. In the early 1890s De Dion and Bouton turned their attention to the internal combustion engine, much to the annoyance of Trépardoux who quit in 1894, leaving his erstwhile partners to develop what was, in effect, the first high-speed internal combustion engine.Engineer Bouton's power units developed significantly greater output than their contemporaries from Daimler and Benz, yet matched them for reliability. Small wonder then that De Dion Bouton engines were adopted by many other manufacturers both in Europe and the United States. Early 137cc engines ran at speeds of up to 1,500rpm, and the first internal combustion-engined tricycles were built in 1895. The 250cc engine of 1896 developed approximately 1.75hp and made the contemporary Benz engines seem positively antiquated. Early De Dions were rear engined and of the vis-à-vis type – where the passengers sat facing the driver but from 1902 onwards a more conventional layout for a motor car was adopted, one of the first of this kind being the Type O. By this time, De Dion's fast-revving, single-cylinder engines were offered in 4 1/2hp, 6hp and 8hp variants. All featured mechanical inlet and atmospheric exhaust valves, and were noted for their reliability, which is borne out by the number surviving today.The De Dion offered here although registered on the V5 as a 1906 at present is verified by the Veteran Car Club of Great Britain as a 1908 example of the 8hp with desirable rear entrance door which, when new, we believe cost £208. With right hand drive and wheel steering, it represented De Dion-Bouton's latest thinking at the time of its introduction, embodying important developments in design, construction and coachwork in advance of the firm's earlier quadricycles. Presented in green coachwork with beige trim, this example was purchased by our vendor from the ex De Dion-Bouton Club Chairman and the history file includes details of both operating instructions and the model line ups from the era and the full report from the Veteran Car Club. 1991 Mercedes-Benz 500SL-32 Roadster Transmission: automatic Mileage: 79490These incredibly accomplished, five litre sportscars represent a truly advanced way to travel. Stuttgart supplied these grand-tourers with high levels of comfort including a fabric convertible top as well as a colour-matched and manually detachable hardtop that could be fitted over the stored fabric convertible roof. Other advancements included an electronically controlled damping and the famous hidden, automatically extending roll-over bar. Electric mirrors, seats and windows combined with acres of leather and wood make for a very satisfying place to travel in.Presented in classic burgundy with a black leather interior, unmarked split-rim alloy wheels and Falken high-performance tyres, this example has remained in the vendor’s ownership for over 17 years. 1967 MG B Roadster Transmission: manual Mileage: 3981The MGB was launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA. Introduced as a four-cylinder roadster, a coupé with 2+2 seating was added in 1965. It was a relatively modern design at the time of its introduction, utilising a monocoque structure instead of the traditional 'body-on-frame' construction used on both the MGA and MG T-types. The lightweight design reduced manufacturing costs while adding to overall vehicle strength. The performance was considered brisk at the time of its introduction aided by the relatively light weight of the car.This MGB is presented in gleaming white and black leather interior with white piping. The black hood and matching full tonneau cover are complemented by a stylish chrome luggage rack mounted on the boot lid. Sold by Historics to our customer in 2017 and having been enjoyed by him since this MGB is presented with an MoT test certificate which expires in March 2021.
