A Leica IIIg serial no. 969187, chrome, with Summicron f/2 50mm lens, serial no.1144742, case and lens cap, body F/G, lens F, shutter working on fast speeds and D/A only Body shows signs of light to moderate use with minor bright marks and superficial marks, particularly on windon knob, ends next to strap lugs and baseplate. Blinds, viewfinder and rangefinder appear to be OK. Lens chrome marked with small scratches and nicks, but no signs of serious impact. Stiff iris, focus OK. Lens coatings appear to be good and lens would benefit from internal clean. Case shows signs of heavy use, but perfectly functional.
A Wood and Brass 12in x 10in Field Camera, no maker`s name visible, comb-jointed with black bellows (G-VG), with Clement and Gilmer f/8 lens with rim-operated iris (VG) Camera well preserved, signs of light use - apart from some scoring around the tripod areas the wood is in above-average condition. Brasswork a little dulled but clean, and complete apart from one of the two knobs that control front rise. Bellows in good shape, leather strap present. Lens optically and cosmetically excellent, rarely seen in such a bright and smart condition.
A Walnut-Veneered Table Stereoscope, circa 1906-1932, with approximately 45 glass stereoscopic slides on internal rotating mechanism, subject matter mainly of English gardens, landscapes, zoo animals and some interior views, rack and pinon focusing and later electric adaptation some chipping to veneer at base, no major damages, some light scratching and marks to body, glass plate at back intact
Hand and Stand Cameras: a Sanderson quarter-plate serial no. 7737, c.1904, P, with f/6.8 Goerz Doppelanastigmat 120mm lens, G, in working Compur dial-set shutter; and unbranded camera, tropical style with teak body and brass binding, G, with Carl Zeiss Jena f/4.5 Tessar 12cm lens, G, in Compur dial-set shutter, slow speeds sticky but working, with film back, in leather case Sanderson shows signs of heavy use, and is a restoration project. Bellows are worn, case looks scuffed and tired. Lens and shutter not pristine, but in good working order. The unmarked camera has signs of light to moderate use, and may be American in origin It`s lightly built and suffers by comparison with classic British manufacture, but a pretty little item nonetheless. Lens clean, shutter could probably be easily returned to total efficiency.
A Rolleiflex 2.8D TLR Camera, serial no. 1606997, with Zeiss Planar f/2.8, G, with instructions and erc; and fitted accessory case for Rolleikin, filters, lens hood, tripod, quick release plates etc Camera has signs of light use with a few rub marks on exposed areas. Lens clean without significant faults, possibly some internal debris at extreme edges. Shutter and delayed action work, exact readings not tested.
A Canon VI-T, serial no. 603170, G, with Canon meter, f/1.2 lens, P, cap, boxed lens hood, instructions Body is clean - signs of light use only. It seems to work well - rangefinder works but patch a bit dull. Meter responds to light and retains translucent baffle. Lens has signs of moderate to heavy use with paint loss on barrel. Optics show extensive internal clouding, but might clean up if dismantled. Lens hood is immaculate as is original leather case; cartonboard container failing at glue seam but in reasonable condition. Clean instruction book.
A Thornton-Pickard Ruby Half-Plate Mahogany and Brass Camera, serial no. 2613a, with brass binding and red bellows, working roller-blind shutter, stereo and normal lens boards, Taylor, Taylor & Hobson f/6.5 7.7 in Cooke lens and cased close-up lens, all G, with three dds and canvas case Camera believed to have been used by a portrait photographer in Clevedon Bristol c. 1905, but it only carries signs of light use. Difficult to find this camera in such complete and smart condition, and the lens and accessories are most desirable. Battered canvas case the only trivial downside.
Folding and Other Cameras: Agfa Isolette II with rare Agfa Solinar f/3.5 75mm lens, in maker`s box and erc, Canon QL f/1.7 45mm lens, in maker`s erc, Zeiss Icarette 500/2 with Tessar f/4.5 105mm lens, Kodak Autographics (2), Ensign Selfix 420 with Ensar Anastigmat f/4.5 105mm, in maker`s box, other cameras and light meters (14) (a lot)
A London Stereoscopic Company `Carlton` Twin-Lens Reflex Camera, with matching London Stereoscopic Black Band 5in x 4in taking lens, magazine with plateholders, F-G, with fitted London Stereo velvet-lined leather case and home-made tripod top Exceptionally complete and unusual example of camera that was introduced in 1894. Camera bears signs of light to moderate use. Some internal rust on the changing mechanism, wear on the carrying handle and trivial marks on leatherette and metalwork do not greatly detract. Lens has internal marks which may clean off if dismantled, and iris needs to be freed up.
A Voigtlander Bessa II Camera, with Apo-Lanthar f/4.5 105mm lens in Synchro-Compur shutter, in maker`s case and lens hood, in maker`s case, body G-VG, shutter working, lens G-VG light signs of wear, some chipping to paint around edges of folding mechanism, bellows lightly creased, no heavy wear or signs of holes, lens is clear and clean, camera erc has some glue residue to one side and strap has some heavier wearing at fastenings, lens hood and case are in good condition
An Angenieux Lens in L39 Mount, type P1 f/1.8 90mm lens serial no. 180507, body P with paint loss and minor scratching, stiff focus, optics F-G, with minor internal dust and coating marks; Angenieux front cap, P Unusual lens, optically serviceable. Notable amber cast when held against the light.
An Underwood `The Club` 6 x 5 Mahogany and Brass Camera, with black bellows, with f/8 8in brass lens, in Thornton Pickard roller blind shutter, ivorine plaques printed `E & T Underwood Patenteers & Manufacturers, Birmingham` and `The Club Underwood`s Patent`, body G, shutter working, lens F Unusually well preserved and attractive - the usual minor faults do not greatly detract. Lens rear element has some separation to rear edge, otherwise clean and clear, roller-blind shutter tested with cable release, some heavier wear to leather carry strap by fixing, glass plate to rear appears to be a replacement, different colour wood, ivorine lable printed `Benetink & Co Cheapside London EC`, some light scratching and marks to body of camera, bellows some pin holes to corners
A Braun SK 5 Radiogram, in whitewood and light grey-painted steel cabinet, with hinged perspex and whitewood lid, designed by Dieter Rams and Hans Gugelot, successor to the SK4, icon of modern design, produced in 1956; this example was purchased from Martin`s in King`s Road, London in around 1960, 585mm wide
A Watson `Alpha` Tropical Half-Plate Hand and Stand Camera, serial number 13571, dovetailed mahogany body with brass binding, offered from 1894 `for hot climates`, with black bellows, original strap, working spirit level stamped `TT&H` (Taylor Hobson), Watson 8.6 x 6.5 in lens with wheel stops, Thornton-Pickard snap-shot shutter (fires, but blinds not light-tight) and one brass-bound dds, camera E, lens F Exceptionally fine hand and stand camera with attractive brass binding. Woodwork in fine condition apart from the usual trivial marks and scratches, brasswork complete and original retaining most of original lacquer, black bellows in good condition, sliding glass screen. Working bidirectional spirit level, shutter with original cord pull and attractive wood finish, blinds a little wrinkled. Lens has ding on front rim and some internal marks which may clean off if dismantled.
Wood and Brass Field Cameras: tailboard camera by Photo-Vulga Paris, plate size 13 x 18cm, revolving bellows giving landscape or portrait by means of stud-and-keyhole system, F-G, with non-working roller blind shutter and unmarked meniscus lens with screw-in aperture, G; and Houghton Triple Victo half-plate serial no. 11576, P, missing tripod fitments, lens board not original The French camera shows signs of light to moderate use, with no major issue. It has intact but shabby bellows and comes with a simple lens and French-made shutter, which needs repair. Good example of a design popular on the Continent but less so in the UK. Victo is shabby with various faults and missing parts and is a restoration project. It does have reasonably intact bellows, though.
A Dallmeyer Hand or Stand Camera, 5 x 4 inch, with gem size multiplying back (rear viewing screen having 7 1-inch circular apertures covered by swinging brass covers), black bellows, F-G, Zeiss Patent 11.5 inch lens in working Volute shutter, F-G Unusual camera that looks better than F-G rating might suggest. Model has not been positively identified. Best guess is that it is American-made which Dallmeyer imported to sell under their own name. Interior condition extremely good, with polished brass and woodwork bearing relatively light to moderate signs of use. Leather covered case has scuffs and surface loss but by no means tatty, and the lens is attractive in appearance with some internal marks or fungus that may clean off if dismantled.
A Sanderson Half-Plate Mahogany and Brass Field Camera, serial no. 22183 (c. 1914), dovetailed mahogany body with black bellows (possibly later replacement), G-VG, two porthole-style lens boards with Ross f/8 8-in Patent Concentric lens no. 53753, F-G, and Wunsche f/6.8 180mm Double Anastigmat lens in Compound shutter, F-G and dark focusing cloth A very pleasing example of this landmark camera - signs of light use, in better condition than normally found. Woodwork has a small piece missing on front extension near base, as well as a few marks on the base section proper, a small crack towards the bottom of the rear frame, and a few other minor marks, but finish otherwise frsh and attractive. Note that there is no leather handle, and a small ivorine plate on the side of the camera is missing. (It probably had a "British Made" slogan, reflecting anxiety about German penetration of the UK camera market.) The bellows are in good shape and may be a replacement. Brasswork complete, original lacquer with only minor touches of corrosion here and there. Lens has some paint loss on the front ring and a few internal marks, but again better than mostly found. It is push-fitted, with the flange fixing screws not present, so it is probably a later replacement.
