London Underground quad-royal POSTER MAP designed by Paul Garbutt. Undated but shows the original Jubilee Line to Charing Cross and the Piccadilly Line western terminus as Heathrow Central so can be dated to 1979-84. A couple of small, light stains but generally in very good condition. Folded. [1]
1880 (July, August, September) South Eastern Railway TIMETABLE ETC BOOK. 221 pages inside hard-covers, includes main-line & branch services, tidal service to Paris, Stations, Junctions, Level Crossings etc closed at night & on Sundays, empty train & light engine workings, Cannon St & Charing Cross signals, guards' duty lists, collection of tickets, vacuum brake workings, weight of goods trains, highway vehicles by railway, tables of distances etc. A most unusual item. Some wear to covers but generally good. [1]
Southdown Motor Services ADVERTISING DISPLAY PANEL from a 'Queen Mary' Leyland PD3. These panels were placed in the blank window frame on the lower deck by the stairs. This one advertises excursions, express services and tours. Measures 43" x 23" (109cm x 58cm) and made of light alloy. In good, ex-vehicle condition, a few paint splashes. [1]
Croydon Corporation Tramways MAP & GUIDE TO CAR SERVICES dated February 1924. Printed on light-brown paper with a cover picture of Croydon Town Hall and an open-top Corporation tramcar. A superb example in excellent condition with just minor signs of wear. One of the best of these we have seen. [1]
1923 London Underground MAP of the Electric Railways of London "What to see and how to travel". Designed by MacDonald Gill with his distinctive style of calligraphy and map border, this is the issue dated 1/6/23 and the version thereof which shows the British Empire Exhibition stations with red dots. Generally a very good copy, light foxing spots on the spine and rear cover. [1]
1924 edition of the Metropolitan Railway's METRO-LAND BOOKLET, the British Empire Exhibition Number of the guidebook that ran from 1915-32. This is an original copy, not the recent facsimile, and is complete with fold-out, double-sided map. Very light wear but generally in very good condition, the map has a short tear. [1]
[Corrected] c1932-33 Metropolitan Railway pocket MAP OF LONDON, the Met's own very attractive map of the Underground which highlights their own lines in red and leaves the remainder of the network coloured light blue! The map has print-code M1795/50M and shows the Stanmore line open so will have been issued in late 1932 or early 1933, one of the last before the Met was absorbed into London Transport. In very good condition, no major blemishes. [1]
A Royal Worcester reticulated cabinet cup and saucer, on a white ground with painted floral decoration within gilt borders, puce mark verso, shape No.1471, registration No. 158959, date code for circa 1893, h.7.3cm; together with a Royal Worcester blush ivory teacup and saucer, hand-painted with flowers and heightened in gilt, having green mark verso, registration No.190547, date code for circa 1901 (2)Condition report: Blush cup – restored to the rim, paint quite rubbed particularly to the base, very grubby.Blush saucer – discoloured and grubby, light crazing to the centre, no apparent damage or restoration.Second cup – small chip to foot, gilding lightly rubbed, very grubby.Second saucer - gilding lightly rubbed, no apparent damage, very grubby.
A circa 1960s Royal Worcester pot pourri, the pierced cover with gilt finial, the body with twin handles, hand-painted with apples and grapes, signed Freeman, on pedestal base, with black printed mark verso and numbered H314, h.28cm (restored). Pot – has been restored to the rim (average standard), gilt does not quite match, some light rubbing/scratches to decoration, base appears OK.Lid – gilt lightly rubbed and scratched.
A Victorian Wedgwood bachelors teapot, transfer decorated in the Fallow Deer pattern; together with a Victorian Coalport bachelors teapot (2). Coalport example – restoration to the spout, handle appears intact, light crazing, light rubbing to decoration.Wedgwood – one area of possible restoration to the joint of the foot, otherwise no obvious damage, light signs of wear.
A late Victorian silver bonbon dish of pierced oval form having repoussee floral and C-scroll decoration, maker Henry Matthews of Birmingham, 1897, together with one other late Victorian pierced silver bonbon dish, and one other smaller example (3). Largest – 88g weight, hallmarks are clear, slightly bent and with minor dents, generally OK.Mid-size – 34g weight, hallmarks rubbed but legible, some light dents particularly at base.Smallest – 25g weight, hallmarks are clear, condition appears OK.
A Roslyn China Springtime part teaset and a Cauldon China coffee set Condition Report: Roslyn - five cups, and one is chipped and cracked., Eight saucers, 12 plates and 2 cake plates, jug and sugar bowl. Light surface scratches. Cauldon - 9 cups, 12 saucers and plates. Medium surface scratches/utensil marks.
An 18ct gold court wedding ring, size K1/2, and an 18ct gold moonstone set ring size Q1/2, weight combined 7.6gms Condition Report: Court wedding ring, Birmingham 1907, inscribed internally, light general wear. Moonstone some small losses to the setting, made from a wedding ring, date stamp lost. moonstone nice blue with surface abrasions indicative of wear.
A 15ct gold opal and green gem set ring, size N, weight 2gms Condition Report: One opal badly chipped will need replacing, the other two both have abrasions to the surface indicative of wear, green stones possibly tourmalines, too small and dirty to see much going on inside. they are also in closed back settings. Mount ok light general wear.
