A PAIR OF DERBY VASES, of conical form with leaf capped cobalt and gilt handles, painted to either side with a leaping stag or doe at lodge or rabbits and sheep in octagonal frames on a ground of gilt stars beneath a berried foliate ribbon border, 11.5cm h, William Duesbury & Co, incised D or N and/or triangle of the 'repairer' Joseph Hill, painted crown, crossed batons and D in puce, c1790, exhibition label Provenance: Captain A E Burnett. Exhibited: English Ceramic Circle, 1948, No 324. ++Stag/Rabbits vase - fine ascending hairline firing cracks. Minor flat chip on the foot. Doe/Sheep vase - when inverted small spot of flaking on the underside of one of the handles is evident but not normally visible.

Cover with minor hairline crack from the rim to one aperture

Small retouched flat chip on the edge of the foot

Particularly high quality examples of Coalport ornamental porcelain of the period
