A George III ormolu 'Goat's Head' candle vase by Matthew Boulton c.1770, with reversible finial and nozzle, on ovoid pedestal vase with goats head and laurel festoons on a stepped square base and four ball feet, 19.5 cm highQty: (1)NOTESProvenance: Collection of Jack Webb (1923-2019), London. Matthew Boulton and John Forthergill made these vases at their manufactory in Soho, Birmingham and sold them at Christie's throughout the second half of the 18th century. This variation is known as the 'Goat's Head' vase and was produced with a wide assortment of bodies, which included, Derbyshire Blue John, white marble and silver-plate. They proved to be one of the most popular vases amongst the aristocracy and examples can be found in the Royal Collection and many private collections. Delpech Redt, 39cm high, placed on an associated wooden stand for displayQty: (1)NOTESThe Townley Vase is a large Roman marble vase of the 2nd century BC, discovered in 1773 by the Scottish antiquarian and dealer in antiquities Gavin Hamilton in excavating a Roman villa at Monte Cagnolo, Rome. The name was given to the vase by Charles Townley who subsequently purchased it in 1774 for £250. The British Museum purchased the vase in 1805 where it remains today. The Art Union of London was founded in 1837 to promote the interest in British artists and manufacturer of decorative arts. In 1871 a bronze copy of the vase was made by Delpech and copies were produced and given to ten members of the Art Union of London.

Nude figure vase height 26cm, there has been some damage to the rim, with some small chips and regilding, extremely dirty and dusty, rubbing to gilt detail.

Pot pourri with finial missing and the cover has been broken in half with large chip/pieces missing, stained.

The two pieces of 19th century hand painted are both broken and parts are missing, also each piece is cracked.

The blue glass jug has a crack, further fritting, pitting and general wear throughout.

MALING; a group of tableware including 'Azalea' and 'Clematis' examples with further similar, including a Newhall 'Boumier' ware bowl (af), and a pair of Continental bisque porcelain figural vases with columns modelled as the Three Graces, one impressed F and numbered 14 to base, height 30.3cm (af).Additional InformationBoumier ware bowl cracked through, the bisque vases with firing cracks, usual scuffs and scrapes. One Grace head has been off and reglued on one vase and one has chip to the foot on the other vase. Some further general surface scratches.

All the items of blue and white ware with damage, apart from the tapered circular vase with handles to the lower section. Damage includes chips, hairline cracks, large areas of damage, also all crazed throughout. Numerous chips to the mirror, too many to detail individually. Some small nicks to the planter, similar to Wesley bust. The dish with mermaid has chip to shell rim. Worcester figure extremely dirty, some scuffs. The lidded jar again very dirty with some general wear. The Moore Brothers bowl with chips to the foliage. The clock not tested, no guarantee of working order, missing the back plate, no key, some nibbles to enamel, generally heavy wear.

DERBY; a small group comprising pair of floral painted cabinet plates with gilt highlights on dark blue ground, diameter 22cm, pair of shaped Imari palette decorated and gilt heightened bowls, 19.5 x 25cm, two further floral decorated bowls (af) and an urn vase (af), these with painted marks to bases, further similar floral decorated ceramics, two Royal Crown Derby Imari decorated plates, smaller dish and teacup, all pattern no.1128 and three pot lids (badly af).Additional InformationBoth early Derby plates with no visible hairline cracks, but hollow rings. Both shaped bowls with better rings, but both of these heavily scratched to surface and underside, with extensive firing imperfections and kiln dirt and pitting. Both of the floral decorated shaped bowls mentioned after the Imari bowls have hairline cracks. All of the other 18th and 19th century ceramics in this lot badly af, numerous cracks and serious damage and losses throughout. Two of the pot lids completely cracked all the way through, one with chip to underside. The Royal Crown Derby items all ring true with no visible hairline cracks and some light surface wear.
