John Adams for Poole Pottery CSA 'Chinese' blue glazed group of ceramics, comprising a pair of ginger jars and covers, with impressed marks to the base, 17cm high, a pedestal dish, incised '464' to the base with impressed marks, 11.5cm high x 20.5cm wide and a wide-shouldered vase, incised '422' to the base, 18cm high overall (4)Provenance: One of the blue ginger jars with covers was purchased from 'The Poole Pottery Museum and Archive' sale at Christie's South Kensington on 31st March 2004 and was lot 45, it comes with a photocopy of the accompanying invoice. The other item (Lustre vase) that is listed on the invoice is included in this sale. The ginger retains its original paper lot label. All with overall wear, marks, scratches, signs of age and use. One ginger jar lid with cracks. One ginger jar (Not the Archive sale example) with flaws to the footrim, we think this is a manufacturing/production fault, not damage. There is a similar fault to the footrim of the vase also. The pedestal bowl sounds dull when tapped, we have checked it under a UV light as a result and nothing shows. The Archive sale ginger jar has lots of sticky label/sellotape residue, but we think this would clean off with a gentle wash.
Truda Adams for Poole Pottery two large vases, the first decorated with a stylised bird and flowers, with 'NT' painted to the base, with impressed 11 mark, 25cm high overall, the second decorated with flowers and leaves, with 'NF' painted to the base, with impressed 11 mark, 29cm high (2) Overall wear, marks and scratches. Crazing to both. Some faults to the glaze in places. The bird vase with some peculiar-looking paint to the footrim, possibly restored, but there is no evidence of flaking that we can see. One small area of the footrim to the same vase shows under UV slightly. The floral vase appears generally ok with some pin-holes to the glaze.
Attributed to David Leach (1911-2005) at Leach Pottery celadon glazed preserve pot, decorated with an oak leaf to the lid, impressed Leach pottery mark to the footrim, 7.5cm high, a Marianne de Trey (1913-2016) bowl, with small running facet cuts to the exterior, impressed shell potters mark to the footrim, 10cm high x 11.5cm across, a Kenneth Quick (1931-1963) at Tregenna Hill Pottery small fluted vase, with impressed seal mark to the footrim, 7cm high (3) Overall wear, marks and scratches to all. All with minimal glaze and firing faults. The David Leach preserve pot has an underglaze chip to the rim, made when potted, not damaged. Otherwise seems ok.
Owen Carter for Carters Poole collection of four lustre vases, the tallest of square tapering form, with incised marks to the base and with Christie's lot number (See Provenance note), 31.5cm high, a red lustre baluster vase with impressed marks to the base and with Christie's lot number (See Provenance note), 22cm high, a Carters Poole red lustre bowl, with incised marks to the base, 20cm wide x 9cm high and a purple glazed twin handles vase, with incised marks to the base, 15cm high overall (4)Provenance: The two taller vases were purchased from 'The Poole Pottery Museum and Archive' sale at Christie's South Kensington on 31st March 2004 and were lot 1, they come with an accompanying invoice and catalogue. All with overall wear, marks and scratches. Consistent with age, display and use. All with crazing. The tallest example with some white to the corners and raised areas, this is wear to the finish, not damage. The baluster vase with some chips and a hairline crack. The bowl with minimal glaze faults, a pinhole to the glaze and with scratches. The purple vase with what looks like white paint on the surface?

Crazing to the glaze of all pieces. Some discolouration to the crazing on some also. The leaping deer vase has a professionally restored (Very difficult to spot, even under a UV light) handle. The large bowl has a very small bruse/tiny glaze loss to the rim. The small striped jug has a small fault to the footrim, we think this is a manufacturing fault, not damage. Panel brooch with small chips. Some old adhesive marks to some which would come off with a gentle wash.
Roy Manby (20th Century School) two still life 'Vase of flowers' studies, one signed and dated 1966 lower left, 17.5cm x 13.5cm and one other by the same artist, unsigned, 18cm x 14cm (2)Provenance: Has come via direct descent. We also have ceramic pieces by the artist's mother later in this sale. Overall display and age related wear. Minor scuffs to the frames, otherwise seems ok.

Some glaze faults and pin-holes in places. One of the candlesticks has a small repair to the top/sconce. The small beaker has a hairline crack. The wide squat vase on the far right of the picture has a hairline crack. The large vase has some faults to the footrim, which we think were made during the manufacturing.

Some scratches. The red glazed vase has some chips and damages, both to the neck and footrim. The green glazed vase has a hairline crack to the interior of the rim.

Crazing to the glaze. Tallest vase with suspect area on the rim, no damage to see, but a small area of unusual paint. The jug with a bird has signs of damage/a crack to the handle. The large twin handled floral vase has a pin-hole fault to the glaze on one handle.
James Radley Young and Truda Adams for Carter Stabler Poole three pieces of ceramics, comprising a 'Portuguese stripe' jug in a purple colourway, incised '310' to the base, with handpainted decorators mark to the base, 14cm high, another smaller vase with stripes and dots on a grey ground, incised '353' to the base, with Ruth Paveley handpainted mark to the base and impressed marks, 9cm high and one other small sprig patterned vase, incised '344' to the base, with painted and impressed marks, 7cm high (3) Overall wear, marks, scratches with signs of age and use. Some crazing and minimal glaze/firing faults as expected. Minor area with loss of glaze to the handle, we think this is due to the manufacturing process and is not damage.
Susie Cooper (1902-1995) pottery jug, decorated with rams on a green ground, incised to the base, 'Susie Cooper 1932', 21cm high overall and a Clarice Cliff (1899-1972) vase, decorated with flowers on a yellow ground, stamped with 'Bizarre' mark to the base, 21cm high (2) Overall wear, marks, scratches and display wear. Bot with dirt and some discolouration to the interior. Crazing to the glaze, particularly on the yellow vase.

Surface dust and dirt to all. The tall flaring vase has a small bruise to the rim. The seed pod vase has a firing crack to the rim, it also has a small blemish to the foot, which we think is part of the manufacture. The squat vase has a small blemish to the footrim on the underside, we think this is part of the manufacture.
Collection of Poole Pottery 'Magnolia white' range, comprising a large globular vase with twin moulded handles, impressed marks to the base, 27cm high approx overall, a pair of bottle vases, with '698' and other impressed marks to the base, 40cm high overall, a small globular vase, with impressed marks to the base, 19cm high, a pair of small vases or pots, with '276' and other impressed marks to the base, 5cm high overall (6) Overall wear, marks, scratches to all. The two smallest pieces with tiny rough areas to the rim, in our opinion this is due to the manufacture rather than damage. They would benefit from a gentle clean. Otherwise seems ok.

Some crazing to all, some with discoloured crazing. Minimal glaze faults in places. The large vase is damaged and restored throughout.
Dylan Bowen (b.1967) collection of studio pottery comprising a slip glazed bud vase, signed to the underside, 11.5cm high, and two slipware small plates or dishes with abstract trailed slipware design, each signed to the base, 17cm across (3) Overall minimal glaze/firing faults, some scratches. Otherwise seems ok.
Marianne de Trey (1913-2016) collection of studio pottery, comprising of a large incised vase, with triangular mark to the footrim, 19.5cm high, a red glazed bowl, with triangular mark to the base, 10.5cm high overall, another bowl with original paper label which reads 'Marianne de Trey Bristol Guild 1984', 16.5cm x 10cm high and a small studio pottery spade shaped vase, with incised detailing to the foot, triangular mark to the footrim, 15cm high (4) All with overall display wear and minor scratches. Crazing to the glaze of the red bowl. The red glazed bowl also had a Bristol Guild label which has detached from the bowl. Otherwise seems ok.

Minimal glaze/firing faults. Otherwise seems ok.
Geoffrey Eastop (1921-2014) three studio ceramic pieces, one of small vase with large flaring rim, signed to the base, 11.5cm high overall, a gourd fruit shaped vase with bottleneck, signed to the base, 13.5cm overall and one larger vase, signed to the base, 20cm high (3) All with overall signs of display marks, age and wear. All with scratches. The small vase with a flaring neck has been damaged and repaired/reglued. The largest vase has some very small chips in places.
