EARLY MDINA MOULDED AMETHYST GLASS 'FISH VASE', 5 1/2" (14cm) high, paper labelThe following provenance and information has been provided by the vendorThis is a beautiful piece of Mdina glass,given as a present by Michael Harris around 1970 to Helen Monro Turner and John Lawrie of the famous Juniper Green Studio in Edinburgh Scotland.This is an extremely rare colourway for a fish vase of Amethyst swirls in clear glass,it was part of the private collection of Helen Monro Turner and John Lawrie-both former Heads of the Edinburgh College of Art, Glass Dept. and leading lights in the British studio glass movement.The provenance for this piece comes via John Lawrie who had retired post 1989 and decided to sell off some of the Studio's collection.Pieces such as this were regularly exchanged by artists as a mark of respect for each others work or even traded for pieces.It is unsigned,but bears the original Mdina paper label.
