Arm has also been cracked right through. Remaining items appear OK.

Ernst Rötteken (1882 – 1945) war Kunstmaler und Graphiker aus Detmold. Nach der Schule studierte er erst Botanik und später schloss sich ein Kunststudium an. Er besuchte die Kunstakademien in Düsseldorf und Karlsruhe. Stilistisch ist seine Malerei vom Impressionismus beeinflußt. Ab 1908 läßt er sich als freischaffender Künstler in Detmold nieder. Ab den 1920er Jahren arbeitet er am Detmolder Gymnasium als Zeichenlehrer und später auch an der Aufbauschule. Seine mehrfarbigen Linolschnitte wurden von ihm als “Handrucke“ signiert und überregional verkauft. Er machte damit seine Kunstwerke für die breite Masse zugänglich und erschwinglich. Die Graphik zeigt eine "farbintensive" Darstellung eines Blumenstilllebens mit einer roten japanischen Zierquitte in einer grünen Vase. Schöne Darstellung in hellen und mattleuchtenden Farben. Zustand: Graphik mit altersbedingten Fehlstellen und kleineren Ausbrüchen. Im weißen Rand fleckig und gebräunt, mit Knick- und Faltsuren. Rückseitig mit Klebe und Montagespuren. Ansprechende und schöne Darstellung.
