A matched pair of Chinese vases and covers, of baluster form, decorated horses and other motifs on a ground of waves breaking on rocks, in enamel colours (repairs), 35 and 36 cm high See inside back cover colour illustration Condition report Report by JB Vase and cover 1: Cover generally grubby, with light signs of wear. Light chips present to inside rim section. Some light areas of colour. The vase itself displays, unfortunately a large amount of damage around the neck, a large section has been broken off and then re-glued in an amateur manner, with some loss to exterior decoration. Otherwise the vase displays general wear, some light fading to the colour around the blue areas of the glaze. A few pox marks and faults can also be observed to the surface, two indentations to base rim, and one small chip. Interior displays noticeable glaze faults and pox marks. Vase and cover 2: The cover on Vase 2 displays a large amount of damage to one side. The rim section has been broken into at least four sections and then re-glued. Pox marks, glaze faults present to the surface and a noticeable amount of glaze has been chipped off the top finial section, along with noticeable rubbing. Two small chips can be observed to interior rim. Again much in the same manner of the first vase, there is noticeable damage to the neck section of this vase. A large section has been broken into at least two pieces and there are three noticeable areas of loss. It has been glued again in an amateur fashion, and is rather noticeable. Again the body of the vase is scattered with a few glaze faults and pox marks and some colours slightly faded Please see illustrations for details
A pair of Royal Doulton Slater's Patent vases, 1884, 38.5 cm high (2) Condition report Report by JB Vase 1 General marks and wear present across the surface. Pox marks and glaze faults can be observed to main body, most noticeably around the top rim. Gilt worn in all areas. Black and brown marks can be observed to textured detail around the centre, with some fading on the white petal details. Base section displays glaze faults with one noticeable white spot. No major damage would appear present. Vase 2 General marks present again with light glaze faults and pox marks, most noticeable to top section. One of note to the glaze in the middle region up the neck. A couple of brown marks again present to the textured section in the middle with some fading and gilt rubbing. No major damage of note would appear present.
A Minton aesthetic movement chamberstick, three Linthorpe vases, and another similar vase (a.f.) (5) Condition report Report by JB Crazing evident to the main body of the chamberstick, along with a crack running from the base towards the centre body, approx. 1.5 inches in length. Light chippings present to glaze around top section and rubbing to handle. Heavy crazing to the surface, along with general markings, two blue glaze faults can be observed to the base, along with two chips. Orange Vase: heavy crazing to the surface with one noticeable glaze chip, and one chip to rim. Red Vase: crazing present to the main surface, along with a few glaze chips to top rim. Pox marks and glaze faults can be observed across the main body, including some pit marks and a large black spot. Colours would appear to be relatively bright. Glaze faults and pox marks can be observed to main body and top rim, some quite rough to the touch, mainly around the exterior rim. There is a light chip to the inside rim of the foot section. A Pilkington lustre vase, by William S Mycock and Walter Crane, dated 1906, of ovoid form, decorated ships and birds, the base impressed with Pilkington monogram, design number 2472, date VI, and painted monograms for Walter Crane and William S Mycock, 27 cm high See illustration Condition report Report by NG Bit grubby with some paint spots from decorating on it. Glaze scratched - three small lines of white visible. Glaze crazed and with some discolouring. Some grey patches in background.
A large Chinese cloisonné enamel bowl (a.f.), of compressed circular form, decorated birds, flowers and insects, on a turquoise ground, with the base of another vase now used as a cover, 36 cm high (overall) See inside front cover colour illustration Condition report Report by JB The cover section is a different vase base. Discolouration and rubbing present to brass sections. Generally grubby, in need of a good clean, displaying general marks and wear. No major damage of note would appear present. The main body is again generally grubby with general knocks and nicks and some light discolouration to certain areas of colour, mainly noticeable around white sections. There are three unfortunate areas of noticeable denting, one large impact area and two combined dents in a close proximity. Some loss of enamel can be observed in both areas, however, majority intact, if slightly strained. Slight distortion can be observed to the lower rim of the foot section, probably caused from the impact - enamel bowl sits slightly wonky Please see illustrations for details
A Chinese carved wood figure, a pastille burner, a ruyi sceptre stand, and other items Condition report Report by NG Chinese carved wood figure: approx. 15 cm long. Left foot missing. Couple of chips and some rubbing. Pastille burner: approx. 11 cm high - crazed, cracked and chipped. Wooden stand: approx. 23.5 cm long - knocked and bumped. Glue residue. Vase approx. 7.5 cm high. Many chips - some cracks.
A set of ten George III style mahogany dining chairs, with pierced vase shaped splats, with drop-in seat and tapering square front legs (8 + 2) (10) See illustration Condition report Report by JB The width of the carver from the widest point is 72 cm, the interior section of the seat is approx. 50 cm, and the width below that is 56 cm. The regular chair's width, at the front is 49 cm tapering back to 40 cm, so the tapering back end on the carver is 45 cm Carver 1: displays general wear, fading to armrest region. The right hand side armrest front detail section has been broken off at some point and repaired. The back support veneer is peeling off in regions. Chair does wobble, quite a few knocks and nicks to legs, split can be observed to the wood in the top right section at the backrest. The chair otherwise appears to be intact. Carver 2: not as faded as Carver 1. Again displaying general wear, knocks and nicks. Some damage to backrest detail. A number of scratches can be observed to the armrests. The chair again would appear to be intact, apart from the aforementioned wear. The regular chairs display varying levels of wear and damage. One seat back is completely broken, however, the bits would appear present for repair. Five display fading and possible water damage to varnish. Three have a noticeable wobble, one cross strut to the seating back is loose, and will wobble back and forth. General wear and nicks present to feet sections. One is missing a noticeable chunk from the right rear supporting foot, light splitting and loss of veneer can also be observed across the range Please see illustrations for details
