A 19th century Yen-Yen style Chinese porcelain Vase hand-decorated in famille-rose enamels with many figures, a pine tree and a pink dragon being tempted by the sacred pearl, further decorated to the neck with figures looking out of a building, figures in a small boat etc.; two hairlines to edge of lip, 39cm high

A late-19th/early-20th century Moorcroft MacIntyre Florianware Honesty pattern Vase in two-tone blue over a stipple ground, green painted flash signature and James MacIntyre printed Florianware transfer to underside, 17.5cm high CONDITION REPORT: Upon inspection the Vase appears in good general overall condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines or problems noted, there is a small glaze build up to the inside of the lip although this looks natural (see image).

Lot 36

A 17th/18th century style Chinese porcelain Bottle Vase (19th Century), the flaring lip now with pieces away and not present, overall dark-aubergine style glaze and raised on slightly spreading circular foot, four-character Kangxi mark to underside, 35cm high CONDITION REPORT: There is a significant portion of the lip away which is now no longer there. Two pieces of the lip have been re-glued some years ago (see images). Apart from the damage as outlined the piece appears to be in good original order.

Lot 397

A very fine set of twelve ebonised framed and glazed (later) 19th Century Chinese rice paper Paintings depicting high ranking officials and attendants in various guises within interior surroundings with lavish floor coverings and various objects and backgrounds etc., very finely painted with the facial expressions extremely well defined, each Painting approx. 31cm x 21cm CONDITION REPORT: Dimensions: Paintings each approx. 30cm x 20cm - within the frames they are 37.5cm x 27cm. Picture 1 (number 397) - All looks good although there is a minor water blemish on the mount on the bottom. Picture 2 - All looks good too with no major problems noted. Picture 3 - Similar although there is a match head sized dent to the painting to the middle left of the red vase on the table. Picture 4 (seated dignitary with an attendant boy to his right) - There is some paint deterioration around the feet of the seated dignitary (see image). Picture 5 - Looks reasonable overall, some very faint minor foxing noted on wall and a very shallow indentation horizontally running across the forehead of the young girl attendant. Picture 6 - Reasonable condition with no major flaws noted. Picture 7 (lady with her left hand on the table with pink vase and flowers) - The “back wall” on the painting looks a little brown and stained in places including top left (see image). Picture 8 (Dignitary in long blue robe with an archer in a yellow robe kneeling before him) - Some vertical and horizontal foxing lines across the back wall area (see image). Picture 9 (Dignitary looking towards a blue vase on a table and to her right is a young girl in a pink robe offering a cup resting on a red bowl) - In good general overall condition, there is a minor darkening towards the top left and side (see image). Picture 10 (Man seated looking left in a blue robe and a servant in a yellow robe offering him a cup and cover on a green saucer) - Generally very good order bar three minor pin head sized foxing spots noted upper left (see image). Picture 11 (Lady seated in a blue robe on a chair with a round circular tripod table immediately to her left also a small attendant with a kettle) - Generally good order with some faint horizontal darkening marks noticed upon close inspection to the back wall. Picture 12 (Gentleman in a long flowing blue robe with a sampan hat on and feather looking to his left and boy looking at him with a long pointed blue and green fan in his right hand - Generally very good order, some horizontal darkening lines mostly towards the top area and to the right of the fruit raised on a stand upon the table. Overall the condition of the paintings is generally very good and commensurate with age, the quality of the paintings including the faces is very good.

A late-19th/early-20th century Ming style Chinese porcelain Vase decorated with birds, chrysanthemum etc., the shoulder decorated with various Buddhistic emblems, four-character mark to underside, together with one other similar period smaller circular Jar and Cover similarly decorated, the Vase 12.5cm high (2) CONDITION REPORT: The larger Jar without lid appears in good original condition with no cracks, chips or restoration etc., the smaller circular lidded Pot also appears in good original condition with no cracks, chips or restoration noted.

Lot 43

A Chinese porcelain Kangxi style Plate decorated with lotus flower heads (hairline and chips to rim) together with: one other slightly larger Plate hand-decorated in underglaze blue with flowers etc. within panels (four-character Kangxi mark to underside); a circa 1900/1910 Chinese porcelain Plate centrally decorated with a building before water; and one further Plate centrally decorated with a vase, table and other objects etc., mostly in green and red, the largest Plate 25.5cm in diameter (4)

Lot 50A

ADDED LOT Three 19th century Majolica Vases: one in Art Nouveau style, one modelled as a tree and running turkey, the third double gourd shaped and with moulded leaves, the highest 52cm CONDITION REPORT: The largest Vase has a couple of small hairlines going in from the top of the lip, there is glaze crazing, the underside of the Vase appears OK. The dark blue double gourd shaped Vase also appears to have a hairline coming in from the inside of the upper lip approx. 6/8cm, there are some minor pieces away from the applied leaves, the underside looks OK although it exhibits glaze marks where the piece has been taken away from the kiln after firing and there is some paintwork away from this Vase also, the last Vase with a turkey has a fair amount of restoration not done particularly well to the top edge of the inside of the tree where the turkey's beak is away, there are some other pieces away from the Vase. None of these Vases are in perfect condition. Within the unglazed underneath section there is the number impressed 6614 and below the 14 is 64, these are the marks of the maker.

Lot 50B

ADDED LOT A large pair of 19th century Aesthetic style ceramic Planters; 40cm high x 37cm diameter CONDITION REPORT: One of the vases has several large hairlines running right down from the top into the bottom of the vase. It looks as if it has been re-affixed at some stage. This vase has also been repaired with rivets. The other vase also has hairlines emanating from the top travelling towards the middle of the bottom of the vase. Both vases are quite dirty and some surface scratching. Unfortunately both of these vases are not in good condition.

ADDED LOT A large pair of 19th century Majolica Vases, each decorated in high relief with a dragon chasing a flaming pearl through cloud, 69cm high CONDITION REPORT: One Vase has been heavily restored from the inside with significant reparations and restructuring, there are also paint losses and losses to the extremities on the first Vase, the other Vase appears to be in better condition but again not perfect with hairlines, some restoration and some losses to scales upon the back of the dragon and to the feet, these Vases although with wonderful decorative appeal in our opinion have been heavily restored and are nowhere near A1 condition.

ADDED LOT A large 19th century three-handled Majolica Planter decorated in relief with chrysanthemums etc.; 36.5cm high CONDITION REPORT: Looking at it from the inside there appear to be star cracks and other cracks to the bottom although the bottom has been applied with a soft felt so it is not possible to see underneath, glaze crazing and some marks prevalent, the main Bowl looks like it has been re-affixed to the slightly spreading circular foot at some stage although it has a good look about it, the Vase is in less that A1 condition.

Lot 51A

ADDED LOT A Poole Studio style Jardiniere decorated with horizontal and angular grooves, together with two further similarly decorated Vases and two other Poole Studioware Vases (5); the Jardiniere 22cm in diameter CONDITION REPORT: The larger Jardiniere does have a couple of small hairlines running from the lip of the vase, the similar vase with the vertical grooves appears OK. All the items appear grubby, dirty and in need of a clean. The second vase appears OK, the third vase which is predominantly yellow ground with an abstract design again appears grubby and dirty but no major problems, cracks, chips or restorations to the body. Turning it up there is prevalent glaze crazing and what appears to be a 2cm “star crack”. The vase with the red band to the middle appears in reasonable order again although dirty inside. The last vase with a yellow and orange ground with vertical angular fluted decoration has some minor scratching to the underside but apart from that appears to be in reasonable order.

Lot 51B

ADDED LOT Four Poole Studioware Vases of cylindrical section, the patterns against an orange ground, the largest 39.5cm high CONDITION REPORT: Cylindrical example with the “waist” has a small star crack to the underside, no other chips, cracks, hairlines or restoration are noted to the other three vases although there is some minor glaze crazing and some firing blemishes to the tallest vase,

Lot 51C

ADDED LOT Four Poole Studioware Vases of squat baluster form together with three other cylindrical form Vases (7) CONDITION REPORT: Some minor glaze crazing, discolouration to tallest vase to inside, the four squat vases appear in good general overall condition with no chips, hairlines, fractures or restoration noted but one or two with minor firing blemishes.

Lot 51P

ADDED LOT A late 19th century Chinese porcelain Vase hand-decorated in underglaze blue in the Kangxi style, four-character mark to underside; 21cm high CONDITION REPORT: One of the handles has a small piece missing from the bottom Ruyi head otherwise the vase appears to be in good general overall condition, with no major cracks, hairlines or restoration noted.

ADDED LOT A Bernard Palissy style Jug decorated with serpents, a toad and a lizard in relief; together with one other Art Deco style Jug, a late 19th century Doulton Lambeth stoneware Jug and one other (4) CONDITION REPORT: The snake vase appears in general original condition, there is a small 2cm firing crack on the inside of the lip where the two snakes meet the body, otherwise in fairly good order overall with no major problems noted. Height of the snake vase is 24.5cm
