A Japanese ginbari and cloisonné-enamel vase by Gonda HirosukeMeiji EraOf slender baluster form, the pale blue ground decorated with an egret standing in a pond by a tall, purple iris, the leaves in ginbari technique, signed to the base in red enamel with the mark of the artist, 30cm high.Condition Report: A tiny shallow enamel flake just under the breast of the egret. A few wires missing from the manufacturing process. Some very fine hairlines to the enamels, also possibly from the manufacturing, around the foot. Some scattered dark dusty spots around the shoulder, possibly a sign of over-firing.

A Fuzhou lacquer vase gifted to Pattinson by Chiang Kai Shek in 1943 is in the collection of the V&A Museum, accession number FE.82-1977.  Condition Report: Liu Lishang: Lightly stuck to mount through the centre. Also insignificant light creases to the top edge.Liu Junli: lightly stuck to mount through the centre. fold visible through the middle. Light water marks to the right edge of the leaf, and some smoothed out creases to the top left corner. A tiny tear to the left edge of the paper.Ding Cong: also lightly stuck to mount through centre like the other two. smoothed out crease to the top right conrner and very faint water marks to both top corner edges. A very tiny tear along the bottom of the central fold.

A Chinese archaic bronze garlic mouth wine vessel, suantoupingHan dynastyThe compressed globular body raised on tall slightly tapered foot beneath long neck terminating in a bulbous lobed mouth, 33cm high. 漢 銅蒜頭口瓶Condition Report: Expected surface wear and deterioration including a large patch of verdigris and other agent to one side, mouth to foot. A large mass to the interior which can be felt moving around when the vase is handled. A repaired patch to one side of the globular lower body, approx 7x5cm. A couple of small nicks to foot.
