Mit ihrer Höhe von nahezu einem halben Meter und einem Preis von 100,-- Francs zählte die Vase zu den größten und teuersten bei der Pariser Weltausstellung gezeigten. Die künstlerische Handschrift Franz Hofstötters ist sowohl bei der Form der Vase, als auch bei ihrem Dekor unübersehbar. Eine außergewöhnliche Rarität, Pendants existieren in Museumssammlungen in Deutschland und Großbritannien. (EP)

In ihr zeigen sich stilistische und technische Elemente, für die der Künstler steht und weltberühmt wurde: der Glasüberfang, die eingeschmolzene Goldfolie, die Emailmalerei sowie der reliefierte Ätzdekor demonstrieren die handwerklichen Fähigkeiten. Auch formal ist die Vase repräsentativ für dessen Ästhetik - inspiriert von der Natur und japanischen Gefäßen, die er sammelte. (JK)
A FINE 22-BORE PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING GUN, SIGNED LEGROS À PARIS, no visible serial number, circa 1800 with later conversion to percussion from flintlock, probably by the maker, blued 30in. barrels, the top of the left hand barrel signed in large gold-filled script 'LEGROS', the right barrel 'A PARIS' in a similar script, gold band at muzzle, white-metal blade fore-sight bisected lengthways by a gilt arrow device inlet to the rib, deeply struck oval French proof marks of a crown over 'HR' to both breech-blocks, engraved brushed bright top-tang featuring a depiction of a harpy and a portrait of a male within the carved sighting groove, engraved drum and nipple conversions, the radiused bevel edged locks engraved with partial borders of tulips and featuring an eagle above a recumbent rabbit on the left lock-tail and a lion on the right, both locks signed 'LEGROS A PARIS' below a floral flourish and retaining the rear half of the pan drains as fences, carved and engraved hammers featuring male portraits within a running vine of tulip flowers, finely chequered walnut half-stock carved with floral decoration around the top-tang and a realistic depiction of a wild boar's head to the base of the grip, raised cheek-piece with gadrooned border, engraved iron furniture, the capped heel-plate featuring masks of wild beasts blowing hunting horns, the pillared trigger-guard bow with a hunter and his dog within a woodland setting and a vase finial, a further eagle and stag engraved to the complex fore-end cap, turned ramrod thimbles and probable original worm-ended ramrod with gilded tip, fitted with iron swivels.
A large late 19th century Worcester porcelain blushware twin handled vase along with a similar Royal Worcester moon flask. Both decorated with flowers. The vase (36cm) having printed and impressed marks to base, No. 942. Date mark for 1888. The moon flask (13cm) No. 553. Repair to two feet of moon flask.
