Pair of French gilt-metal, enamel and alabaster mounted two-handled vases, circa 1900, of baluster form with whiplash foliate cast handles and enamelled borders in blue and orange enriched in gilding, decorated with lappets, stars and foliate cartouches, raised on similarly enamelled stepped bases, 31cm high (2) Condition ReportIn good order and of decorative appearance. Both have some rusting to the metal underneath the base and there are also some signs of wear on the metal elsewhere, though this is not visible from the outside (the wear is only visible inside the rim and on the back of the handles). Some rubbing to gilding and very minor wear to enamels overall, slight rubbing to one footrim, one vase with very minor scratch (or possibly a minute chip) to the edge of the alabaster footrim, some areas of wear and slight sanding to the alabaster.
A Chinese porcelain celadon-ground bottle-shaped vase, underglaze blue apocryphal Yongzheng seal mark, probably nineteenth century, finely painted in the famille rose palette with peony, chrysanthemum and further scattered flower- sprays on a sgraffito pattern ground, below gilt lined rim, 33.5 cm high. Condition Report Overall in good order. There is some typical and minor wear to the upper gilt rim, there are scattered small blow-outs to the glaze and minute flecks of sanding to the glaze. No apparent chips or cracks.
