A CHINESE WUCAI JARDINIERE AND A FAMILLE VERTE VASE 19TH CENTURY The jardini?re decorated with fish amongst seaweed, flowers and other plants, all beneath an iron-red wave border, the vase depicting Shoulao with his deer and two boys holding a large peach, with three bats in flight, the neck painted with the moon and a band of alternating red and green leaves, 26cm. A CHINESE GUAN-TYPE FANGHU-SHAPED VASE SIX CHACACTER TONGZHI MARK AND OF THE PERIOD 1862-74 The faceted pear-shaped body raised on a short rectangular foot, moulded with two peach-shaped panels to the principal sides, the neck flanked by two handles, 30.6cm. Provenance: from the collection of Sir Richard Evans, d.2012.
TWO CHINESE FLAMBE GLAZED VASES 18TH CENTURY One a bottle vase, the other a meiping, each coated in a rich maroon glaze with streaks and flecks of lavender and orange, the glaze thinning to a pale brown at the mouth rims, 20.6cm. (2) Provenance: formerly in the collection of Lieutenant-Colonel W B R Neave-Hill (1912-2000) and thence by descent. Neave-Hill was a client of Bluett's from 1953 until the 1970s and he published Chinese Ceramics in 1975. He was secretary of the Oriental Ceramic Society for many years and lent six pieces to the Society's exhibition The Ceramic Art of China in 1971.
THREE LARGE CHINESE FLAMBE GLAZED BOTTLE VASES 19TH CENTURY Each with an ovoid body rising to a tall cylindrical neck, decorated with a deep red glaze which thins to brown towards the mouth rims, the neck of the smallest vase with streaks of vibrant lavender and the largest with hints of a rich magenta, the base of each washed with a thin brown glaze, 55.5cm. Provenance: from a Scottish private collection acquired in London in 1967 and thence by descent.
