Eleven pieces of Continental porcelain including a Vienna pot pourri jar and cover, a Vienna salt pot and cover of triangular shape, a gilt decorated double scent bottle, a pair of green ground bottles, etc. CONDITION REPORT: Classical Scene Scent Bottle: gilding losses throughout, scenes appear good and bright.Vienna Pot Pourri: gilding rubbed, no chips or cracks visible.Trianaular Salt: finial rough, no chips or cracks visible.Butterfly Decorated Scent Bottle: appears in good order, gilding slightly rubbed in placesPair of Green Ground Bottles: no visible chips or cracks, some slight gilding loss but overall decoration is good and bright.Bottle Decorated with Sailing Scenes: gilding losses throughout, chip to inside of stopper. Painted scenes appear well.Floral Encrusted Twin Handled Jar: many petals chipped, crack to lower part of one handle.Double Scent Bottle: gilding losses, mainly to stoppers. No chips or cracks visible.Floral Encrusted Bottle Vase: some petals chipped, petals on main body are very crudely done, gilding losses throughout.Small Floral Bottle: some chips to petals, gilding losses.
Pair of French Montigny Sur Loing faience Art Pottery vases with hand painted floral decoration MSL to base, 26cm tall. CONDITION REPORT: There are chips to the top of the rims, repair in the neck of the vase and large chip to the foot rim. There are also some flaws in the body of the vases.
STUDIO POTTERY including a large vase with a tenmoku glaze, possibly by Mike Dodd (unmarked), also with a Jim Malone dish with incised Fish design, and a large dish with blue glazed interior (marked and dated 2007). STUDIO POTTERY - MUCHELNEY a variety of Muchelney Pottery including a partially glazed vase by Nick Rees, a vase with 3 small lug handles, a large bowl with glazed interior, and various other Muchelney items. Also with some other studio pottery items, and a small porcelain bowl possibly by Sheila Fournier (dated 76). Rees Vase 7 1/4ins (18cms) high. (15)
GORDON BALDWIN - STUDIO POTTERY VASES 2 cylindrical stoneware vases with flared rims. One with an incised design on a white glaze, the other vase with a central band with painted motifs. Both with repaired section to rim. Both with incised mark, GB. Larger vase 9 1/4ins (23.5cms) high. (2) *Gordon Baldwin OBE was born in Lincoln in 1932, he studied at the Lincoln School of Art and the Central School of Art and Design (1950-53) and was a teacher of Ceramics and Sculpture at Eton College. He was influenced by contemporary sculpture and has worked in stoneware and earthenware, his work has been widely exhibited and is represented in many public collections. Lots 1270-1274 were acquired by a friend of Gordon's wife Audrie Gie, presumably many as gifts. We believe these to be quite early works, probably 1950's-60's. Audrie was born in Cape Town in 1922 but came to the UK at a young age and settled in Devon. During the War she worked at Bletchley and afterwards went to Art School in Tiverton. She became Head of the Art Department at Covent Garden, and provided printing and design to Coventry Cathedral. She was also Head of Department at Wimbledon Art Collage, and continued to have commissions after her retirement.
RICHARD BATTERHAM - STUDIO POTTERY including a stoneware vase with a tenmoku style glaze to the body, and celadon glaze around the rim. Also with a small cut sided bowl, a jug with 3 tankards in a celadon glaze, and 4 small dishes. All unmarked. Vase 8 1/4ins (21cms) high. (10)
LINTHORPE VASE - CHRISTOPHER DRESSER a small Linthorpe vase with a ruby and yellow running glaze. Also with a Doulton Faience vase dated 1879, makers initials for Matilda S Adams. Linthorpe marked, Linthorpe, 811, CH Dresser, and HT monogram (Henry Tooth). 3ins (8cms) high, Doulton 11ins (28cms) high. (2)
