Kaneshige Toyo (Japanese, 1898-1967). Square formed Bizen ware ceramic vase or mizusashi, a fresh water pot used in tea ceremonies, 1964. Incised signature and date along the underside. Toyo was deemed a living national treasure in 1956 for his contributions to Bizen style ceramics.Height: 7 1/4 in x width: 7 in x depth: 7 in.Condition: There is a small crack along the bottom of the interior that extends through to the exterior underside. Pair of 18th century Chinese export baluster porcelain vases. With bold stripes of pink, green, yellow, and black. Each with cartouches depicting figures in a garden, ribboned precious objects, and flowers.Each, height: 18 1/2 in x diameter: 8 in.Condition: Both vases show signs of minor wear. One vase has a crack along one of the main cartouches that extends horizontally to the right smaller cartouche. There is further evidence of repair under UV light in this area. The other vase has a small chip along the upper rim. Both lids have major repairs, visible under a direct light. There are minute white accretions throughout one of the vases, most visible along the black areas. There are a few areas along the painted stripes that appear to be touch-ups to the coloration; these do not appear to be restorations under UV light. General wear throughout consistent with age and use.
Chinese porcelain biscuit glazed mallet formed vase with applied decoration depicting a crane in a tree. The vase has been lamped.Provenance: The collection of Bruce Dayton and Ruth Stricker Dayton - Selections from The Marsh, Minnetonka, Minnesota.Height: 33 in x diameter: 19 in.Condition: There are no visible major cracks, chips, or losses. There are minute firing flaws throughout; one small firing flaw to the glaze along the shoulder. Light wear throughout. The lamp base appears to be affixed to the vase. The metal components are corroded along the underside and they are very difficult to remove; as such the underside has not bee inspected. The lamp has not been tested for functionality.
Chinese celadon glazed garlic head porcelain vase, likely 19th century. With incised floral and foliate decoration throughout. With a carved wooden stand.Vase, without stand; height: 14 in x diameter: 9 in.Condition: There is crazing to the glaze throughout. There is a major oval-shaped firing flaw along the upper rim measuring approx. 2 in x 1.75 in. There is an additional small firing flaw along the body and a brown discoloration, possibly another flaw, near it. There is an area of especially thick glaze near the base of the neck, which causes a slight undulation to the form. There is wear and scratches along the upper rim, consistent with use of a lid. Wear to the footrim consistent with age and use. There is a small sticker affixed along the underside. To the wooden stand there are splits throughout the platform, notably three large splits. Wear throughout consistent with age and use.
Large Chinese export porcelain famille rose medallion or rose Mandarin floor vase, second half of the 19th century. Decorated with applied dragons and painted with birds, roosters, and butterflies among flowers.Height: 24 in x width: 9 1/4 in.Condition: General wear throughout as expected from age and use. There do not appear to be any major restorations when inspected under direct and UV light. There are several large, vertical, hairline cracks. One through the center of a large cartouche and one just to the right of the cartouche. There are minor losses to the paint throughout; minor losses to the gilt throughout. Along the underside there is a series of hairline cracks. There are four chips to the footrim.
Japanese cloisonne vase with a pale blue ground and a landscape of Mount Fuji rising from the clouds. The cloisons have been removed, showing the skill of the artist in the creation of the vase. Similar to many vases by the Ando Jubei Company.Height: 6 1/4 in x diameter: 3 1/4 in.Condition: There is an area of overspray that measures approximately 2 inches x 2 inches, which has begun to flake and discolor. No other visible areas of restoration. No visible cracks to the enamel. There are a few minute chips to the enamel along the footrim. There are several areas of adhesive residue around the footrim. Some wear and light scratches throughout; light wear to the metal rims.

Light wear throughout consistent with age and use, especially along the footrim. There are six rectangular felt pads affixed along the underside.

With an applied dragon and bat along the lip of each rim. Marked along the underside with a six-character Qianlong mark.Each, height: 7 1/2 in x diameter: 5 in.Condition: The head of one of the dragons along the top rim upon one the vases has been heavily restored. There is residual adhesive along the side of this vase. Along the underside of the other vase there is a small glazing flaw to the underside. Light wear throughout consistent with age and use.

Base; height: 1 1/4 in x diameter: 5 1/4 in.Condition: Light wear throughout; dust collected, particularly along the interior. No visible dents to rim or footrim. Along the flowers, there are a few scattered areas that show discoloration; however, they do not affect the overall appearance of the item significantly. Wear along the footrim. Along the underside, there is a network of surface that show surface bubble, which appears to be original. No visible sign of restoration under UV light. Wear to the base; there are four spots to the top of the base that appears to be adhesive residue from glue.

Wear throughout as shown in the listing image. Original glazing and firing flaws. To the left of the center, there is a minute dent that appears to be original. Consistent with age and use, color glazing faded throughout. No visible chips to the rim. Along the margin, there are a few scattered areas with light brown accretions. No visible sign of restoration under UV light; along the margin, there is an area to one of the cherry blossoms that is fluorescent under UV light; however, it does not appear to be a restoration but the top layer of the paint is peeled off. Minute chips to the footrim. Along the underside, there are light brown accretions visible and minute chips to the surface that do not alter the overall appearance of the item.
Pair of Chinese blue and white porcelain baluster vases with decoration depicting flowering branches on a blue ground, ca. 1850-1910.Provenance: Christie's, 1983; The collection of Bruce Dayton and Ruth Stricker Dayton - Selections from The Marsh, Minnetonka, Minnesota.Each, height: 24 in x diameter: 10 in.Condition: There is a large restoration to one of the vases. It appears that there were two large pieces that were broken and reattached with one large crack radiating outwards from these two breaks. The radiating crack measures approx. 8 inches in length; the smallest break measures approx. 3 inches x 8 inches; the largest break measures approx. 6.5 inches x 8 inches. The blue color is slightly darker along the cracks. No cracks or chips to the other vase. Light wear throughout both vases consistent with age and use.
